Kougu's face was a picture. He was genuinely surprised that Jimmy was being kind to him even when he was feeling like death. Hell, even Jimmy was surprised. But what was the point bullying Kougu? There was no one else there to enjoy it, and besides, Kougu would probably kill him.
Nodding, Jimmy wandered away to the kitchen with the bowls and boiled the kettle, then began rummaging through the near-empty cupboards for the cocoa. He found it, although it was a little dark, and prepared a cup of hot chocolate for Kougu and some coffee for himself.
Thirty seconds later he headed back with the hot cups, handed Kougu the hot chocolate, and sipped away at the coffee. It eased his headache, if only a little bit, and what with all th sugar he'd shovelled into it, he felt far more refreshed and in less of a sour mood afterwards, even with The Hoobs playing on the TV in the background.

After that Jimmy went to his room. He was tired dspite only having been awake two hours, but he wanted to have a little more time to himself. Unfortunately he hadn't brought much to do...
It was when he was digging through the clothes in his suitcase when he found it: the old pack of cards he'd lef rotting in his room for years. E couldn't even remember packing them.
He tugged off the rubber band from around the pack and fanned them out in his hands. They smelt of tobacco and beer. Tobacco from his mother, of course.
Forgetting about his previous plans, Jimmy shoved the pack in his pocket and jogged down the stairs, now feeling content enough to ignore his hangover for a bit longer.
“Hey Kougu, you every played Rummy?” He asked, pulling the cards out of his pocket. Without waiting for permission he sat on the rug on the floor with his legs crossed, then jerked his head to gesture for Kougu to do the same.
“Come here, I'll show you.” He murmured, and began dealing the cards out between them.

The next show had just started when Jimmy arrived with the hot chocolate, and Kougu stood up to take it, mumbling a grateful word of thanks. He wrapped his hands around the mug, cradling the warm porcelain, and smiled slightly to himself. His hands were not all that Jimmy's kind gesture had warmed. Taking a deep whiff of the cocoa, he lifted it to his lips, sipping at the warm, chocolatey liquid. Honestly, he had been somewhat dubious - but it really did taste amazing. Sighing contentedly, he sat back on the couch, sipping happily at his cocoa as Jimmy wandered off into the next room.
Kougu was just setting his empty mug down on the table when he returned, a pack of cards in his hand.
“Hey Kougu, you every played Rummy?” He asked, sitting down on the rug and nodding to a spot opposite him. Kougu just blinked in surprise at him, still holding the handle of his empty mug. "What?" He asked blankly. Jimmy might as well have been speaking Greek.
“Come here, I'll show you.”
Eyes narrowing slightly, he watched Jimmy cautiously for a moment, then slowly let go of the mug handle, and slipped off the couch, folding his long legs awkwardly into a crossed position like a little child at storytime. He watched with near indecent fascination as Jimmy dealt out the cards, skillfully dishing out a hand for each of them, then setting the remaining cards down in the deck. Kougu just stared at the upturned cards in front of him in vague disbelief. He knew of card games. He had read about them, seen them on TV, even caught a glimpse of his father playing from time to time, but never had he once thought that he would get to play one. How was he supposed to do it? What was the point? What if he did it totally wrong?
As nervous and excited as a child on his first day of school, Kougu followed Jimmy's lead and picked up his hand of cards, fanning them out and looking through the different coloured numbers on each. Jimmy explained that the cards had to be laid out in number sets of three or more, either of the same number in different colours, or of the same colour in ascending numerical order. And then there was the joker, which could serve as any number of any colour. At the beginning of every turn, each player was to draw a new card, with the winner being the player who finished his cards first.
Drinking in the explanation like he was dying of thirst for knowledge, Kougu's keen eyes began darting over the cards, instantly starting to pick out potential sets, and grouping them together in his mind. It had been quite some time since he'd had any real mental stimulation, and never before had he had the opportunity to exercise his mind without any sort of negative implication. And as he looked over his cards, then back to Jimmy, he realized that he was honestly excited about this. Excited to play and, perhaps for the first time, have some true fun.
"Right," He said, looking at Jimmy with an eager half-smile, "I think I've got it. Are you going to start?"

Seeing Kougu's usually expressionless face change so often at the sight of a few cheap, yellow-stained playing cards amused Jimmy, but he tried not to show it as he explained the rules for the game. Kougu swallowed all the information he was given eagerly, and by the end of the explanation his dark eyes were shining with the fascination of a baby who had just discovered it's own foot.
Jimmy surprised himself when he found that he was smiling with awe. He had never seen Kougu look so eager before, and although he was far too proud to admit it, he thought Kougu looked incredibly cute.
Right,I think I've got it. Are you going to start?
Raising his eyebrows in amusement at the man's eagerness, Jimmy shrugged and pickd out a card from the middle pile, crossing his legs like a little child playing with a mess of coloured bricks. He'd missed having a decent friend and playmate, even when he was younger he'd never really had anyone he was comfortable with playing with, and his parents had never had the time to share his interests. Even playing football in the garden.
“Go on, then” Jimmy urged. Kougu's eagerness was contagious. “Your go.”

Half an hour in and it was Jimmy's turn. He sat hunched over the cards fanned out in his hands. Kougu had only just learning how to play the game and he was already winning.
Grumbling, Jimmy reached over to the deck of cards in the middle and add another to his collection.
“This isn't fair.” He sulked. “You must be cheating. Either that or your just depressingly clever.”

Jimmy drew a card for his first turn, and Kougu didn't need to be told twice when the other man urged him to have his go. He drew a card, and automatically grouped it with other similar ones in his hand, then looked expectantly at Jimmy. He laid down his first set on the third turn, and as the game went on, he grew steadily further and further ahead, starting to understand it better on every turn. Roughly half an hour in, just after Kougu had set out his fifth set, Jimmy's patience finally seemed to crack.
“This isn't fair.” He grumbled as he drew yet another card, “You must be cheating. Either that or your just depressingly clever.”
Kougu smiled faintly in response, and offered an apologetic shrug. "I must just be lucky today." He explained modestly, although he knew fair well that he was a genius. He was not proud of it, it was just one more unfortunate trait of his that benefited his father more than it did him.
"Want to do something else?" He suggested, lowering his hand of cards. He was rather enjoying the game, but the last thing he wanted was to have Jimmy getting annoyed with him again, and judging by the frustrated expression on his face, he was well on his way there.  Rubbing his head absently, Kougu glanced from Jimmy's sets to his, and noted vaguely that he was well on his way to winning. But honestly, it didn't matter much to him at all. Kougu was by no means a competitive person, and win or lose, he was just enjoying the simple act of playing the game. It was so remarkably different to anything else he'd done before, he almost felt guilty for enjoying it so much. It seemed sinful, spending his time on something so pointless, and getting such joy out of it, when he knew he ought to be working hard to atone for the crimes of his past by trying to change the future. That was what he'd dedicated his life to, after all.

I must just be lucky today.
Jimmy bit back a scoff. They both knew that was a lie, and by the look in Kougu's eyes, he really knew what he was doing. This had nothing to do with luck.
Jimmy tried to save his ego by reminding himself that he was way better than Kougu at flirting and socialising, but at times like this that didn't really prove to be much of a help on his case.
It was his turn. He picked up another card from the deck, then his eyes widened when he realised he had a set of cards, finally, in his posession. He grinned and threw them on the carpet. He was still two sets behind Kougu, but he wasn't doing too badly. If Kougu suddenly forgot how to play or plaid shockingly in the next few minutes, he might just win the game.
Want to do something else?
Jimmy automatically shook his head. The likelihood of him had gone up a little bit. He didn't want to give up yet.
But Kougu had already lowered his deck of cards. Apparently the game was already over. Releasing a sigh Jimmy did the same, leaning back against his good palm and resting the bandaged arm across his stomach casually. He looked in a considerably better mood than before.
“I guess we could.” He replied, sub-consciously massaging his aching temples.
“Say, Kougu...” Jimmy added thoughtfully, cocking his head to one side. “It's occurred to me that we have all this money to use... I don't know how long we'll have it for, but it seems a lot.”
He paused to pull a face at the pain between his ears. The pain killer had eased what would have been an excruciating headache to a very painful one.
“Why don't we go out, tonight? I mean, Jesus, we're in New f*cking York!” He gestured enthusiastically around him, as if they were sat right in the middle of the city. “I've always wanted to see New York. We could go out for dinner or something. Proper dinner, not some cheap takeaway. Maybe see a few sights? It'll be dark, so it's not like it'll be hard to hide out if anyone notices us.”
Shrugging, he fell back slowly onto his back and folded his good arm behind his head.
“Just a thought. And if we do it I promise tomorrow I'll help you with whatever Hellish mission you have planned, if you have one yet.”

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

“I guess we could.” Jimmy answered, and Kougu watched sympathetically as Jimmy rubbed his temples. He knew that feeling all too well; his whole life was just one constant headache. If he'd had any painkillers left he would have offered one to Jimmy, but alas, Disprin was the strongest thing available to them. In Kougu's case, it was only a little less useless than popping surgar pills.
“Say, Kougu...” Jimmy said thoughtfully beside him, just as Kougu had begun to pack away the cards, “It's occurred to me that we have all this money to use... I don't know how long we'll have it for, but it seems a lot."
Slowly, Kougu lowered the cards in his hands, and glanced cautiously at Jimmy. He wasn't entirely sure when they had become a 'we', but it seemed oddly suspicious when it only applied in regards to his father's filthy money. Not that he minded, of course. It was more the fear of an insincere friendship that bothered him, even if he hadn't quite the courage to realize it yet.
"What's your point?" He asked delicately, starting to shuffle the deck of cards.
“Why don't we go out, tonight? I mean, Jesus, we're in New f*cking York!” Jimmy threw out his arms in an extravagant gesture, and Kougu ducked away in fear of being caught across the face. His brow creased worriedly, but before he could object, Jimmy chirped on, “I've always wanted to see New York. We could go out for dinner or something. Proper dinner, not some cheap takeaway. Maybe see a few sights? It'll be dark, so it's not like it'll be hard to hide out if anyone notices us."
"That's not exactly the point..." Kougu muttered hesitantly, a frown wrinkling his forehead. Jimmy just shrugged, leaning back with his arm behind his head.
“Just a thought." He said, brushing off Kougu's concern, "And if we do it I promise tomorrow I'll help you with whatever Hellish mission you have planned, if you have one yet.”
At this, he raised an eyebrow, somewhat taken aback by the offer. If Jimmy was offering to help with his 'Hellish mission' willingly, then this clearly meant a lot to him. And much as he dreaded the idea, Kougu didn't have the heart to turn his friend down. When all was said and done, he really did want to make Jimmy happy. He couldn't help it; it was in his nature. He was a people pleaser, and always had been. Still, to hit the streets of New York...?
"I don't know..." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck and chewing the inside of his cheek worriedly. The memory of his near-miss the night before was still fresh in his mind. Too fresh. "I'm not exactly one for 'going out', to be honest. You can go, by all means, but I think I might be better off just staying here..." He rubbed his wrist, fretting slightly, and cast an anxious glance around, as though searching for some reason to stay home. He didn't need one, but it would certainly help his pride to have at least a vague excuse better than 'I don't want to'. He wished that he could go with Jimmy, but the very idea of all those people, every one a potential victim, was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach. Even if they did go out for dinner, he'd never keep the meal down.
"You'd have more fun without me tagging along anyway." He pointed out fairly, offering a faint smile, "And I should probably start planning some sort of 'Hellish mission' for tomorrow."

I don't know...” Kougu replied, not at all convinced. Jimmy's face fell at his reaction, but he decided it couldn't be helped. Kougu was bound to be reluctant after what had happened earlier that evening. He scratched the back of head worriedly, and continued. “I'm not exactly one for 'going out', to be honest. You can go, by all means, but I think I might be better off just staying here...
Jimmy's eyes narrowed boredly at this. That was a totally selfish to say, especially from Kougu, and frankly he was disappointed. If during the day they were going to go round risking their lives doing serious missions at least they could spend one night doing something fun. Kougu thought Rummy was fun, he would find a whole new meaning of the word. What about the statue of Liberty? Buying some pathetic souvenir from some Asian guy in a cheap corner shop?
You'd have more fun without me tagging along anyway. And I should probably start planning some sort of 'Hellish mission' for tomorrow.
“I'm sorry I brought that up.” Jimmy said through narrow eyes, although he wasn't at all sorry. He wanted to go out, but there was no way he was going on his own.
“Come on, Kougu...” He whined, ((Yes, Jimmy just WHINED)) “It's no fun on my own. It's New York. Just give up a few hours.” He made a sulky pout, very much like a spoilt little boy. “The mission can wait a few hours, can't it? Besides... I need a good walk. And proper food. Come on, Kougu.” He slowly managed to find his feet – although he was rather stiff still from their trek two days earlier. “Start building some memories. Outside these walls there's about a billion taurist spots, places made to be visited. And here we are trying to find the fun in a pack of cards.” He gestured sulkily to the cards being sorted out on the floor. He liked cards, but he wanted better. What if they succeeded and had to leave suddenly and he never managed to visit all the places from his favourite movies?
“I'm asking you as a mate.” He raised his eyebrows seriously. “Will you come with me to see New York City?”

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Kougu smiled apologetically at Jimmy's reply, raising a shoulder in a helpless shrug. He could tell that Jimmy wasn't really annoyed about the prospect of their next mission, but whether or not he was willing to accept Kougu's rejection of his offer to spend a night 'out on the town' was another question entirely. As it turned out, it seemed that he most certainly was not.
“Come on, Kougu...” He whined, his voice unlike Kougu had ever heard it. He looked up, staring at Jimmy with his eyebrows drawn closely together, crinkling his brow. He had never heard Jimmy sound so ridiculously childish before, and frankly, he wasn't sure whether to be shocked or amused.
“It's no fun on my own." The other man pressed, "It's New York. Just give up a few hours. The mission can wait a few hours, can't it? Besides... I need a good walk. And proper food. Come on Kougu.” Kougu shifted uncomfortably under the pressure, turning his head away from Jimmy's pleading face. He had certainly never seen Jimmy look like that before. Frankly, Kougu had thought that he was too proud to beg. There was no way that he could turn Jimmy down now, but it wasn't like he could go, either! That would just be ridiculous.
"I don't know, Jimmy..." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his head, and frowning anxiously. He felt trapped between a rock and a hard place, and the stress was getting to him. His head was starting to pound again. “Start building some memories." Jimmy encouraged as he clambered to his feet, making Kougu feel suddenly small as he knelt in the floor, shuffling the cards for perhaps the tenth time. "Outside these walls there's about a billion tourist spots, places made to be visited. And here we are trying to find the fun in a pack of cards.”
Kougu silently tapped the deck of cards against his palm, straightening them, then dropped them back into their box. He closed it and set it on the table, then stood up, wincing at the stiffness in his limbs, and dusting off his knees. He was trying desperately to think of a way to escape the situation, but no matter how long he stalled, there just didn't seem to be one. He just couldn't accompany Jimmy without actually going along with him. When a minute had passed and he still hadn't spoken, Jimmy brought out the big guns.
“I'm asking you as a mate.”
He said seriously, and Kougu looked up at the use of the word, meeting Jimmy's gaze at last. “Will you come with me to see New York City?”
His eyes searched his friend's anxiously for a moment, then his expression softened. He still struggled to believe that Jimmy considered him a friend, and to hear it out loud touched him more than he cared to admit, especially after his near breakdown the night before. His jaw tightened as he watched Jimmy a moment longer, still clearly fighting a losing battle in his mind, then he groaned, and slapped a palm to his forehead, running his fingers through his dark hair in despair. "Ugh," He muttered, sighing and pushing back his fringe, "Okay, fine, you win. I'll go." His shoulders slumped in defeat, "But just so you know, this goes completely against my better judgement, so if I end up losing my mind, I'll be expecting you to deliver that bullet you owe me." He drew in a long, deep breath, then sighed again. Why did I let him talk me into this? It's clearly a terrible idea. Dammit Jimmy, why couldn't you just leave me behind like any normal person would?

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

For a moment Jimmy feared that Kougu would turn him down, but thankfully the pressure he'd put on the man paid off. “Okay, fine, you win. I'll go.” Jimmy's face broke into a grin. Evidently this news meant more to him than he'd first let on, and although he wouldn't admit it in words, he was very grateful that Kougu was willing to risk going berserk again and overcoming his general fear of people to see the sights with Jimmy. It was a fair deal, though. They went to see sights, Jimmy would help Kougu fulfill his wish of assassinating Noah.
Well, for now it seemed fair.
He watched the man run a hand over his face stressfully, then push back his fringe. For a brief moment Jimmy flicked his eyes over Kougu's exposed face, surprised at how good-looking he was hidden under that mop of hair, then shook the thought off. Now wasn't the time. Besides, he was too happy about being able to see New York.
But just so you know, this goes completely against my better judgement, so if I end up losing my mind, I'll be expecting you to deliver that bullet you owe me.
Jimmy chuckled, like Kougu had just told him some hilarious private joke. As if he was going to shoot him now. They were friends, weren't they?
But still, Kougu's sudden willingness to take a bullet for the good of Jimmy and the rest of the public was somewhat unnerving. He'd not realised until now exactly what Kougu's attitude to life was, but now he knew and had witnessed it, he was shocked. How could something so twisted as suicide be used for the good of the public?
“If you're as responsive as you were to me slapping your face last night then we won't have to go that far.” He replied fairly. “But it's fine. Just don't take any weapons. I'll take one or two for safe-keeping, but I doubt you'd need one anyway.”
Winking, Jimmy wandered off to the kitchen to make himself a quick cup of coffee. He'd need the caffeine to keep his enthusiasm up that night.
But as he passed Kougu, he placed a gentle hand on Kougu's head and ruffled his fluffy mop head. “Good lad.” He praised cheekily, as if he hadn't just begged for Kougu's company like a whiny child. “And I promise it'll be worth it.”

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Kougu was glad to see how pleased Jimmy seemed, and although it did little to make him feel better, his lips remained set in a tight, grim line as he struggled to think of a way he could get through what was sure to be a nightmare of an evening. His frown lines deepened, then slackened momentarily in surprise when he heard Jimmy chuckle. Did he not realize that he was being dead serious?
“If you're as responsive as you were to me slapping your face last night then we won't have to go that far.” His friend informed him, as if this solved everything. The previous night, Kougu had still been in his right mind - albeit barely - even until the moment Jimmy had slapped him. If he'd lost it entirely, the whole situation would have ended very differently. Very badly. He opened his mouth to tell Jimmy this, but before he could, the other man added reassuringly, “But it's fine. Just don't take any weapons. I'll take one or two for safe-keeping, but I doubt you'd need one anyway.”
He hesitated a moment, then sighed again, and nodded. He couldn't argue with that.
"Okay." He agreed, shoulders slumped defeatedly. He stared miserably at the floor, still looking distinctly hangdog as Jimmy stood up and, in sharp contrast, winked cheerfully at him. Kougu turned baleful eyes toward him, like a dreary basset hound looking up to its master, only to find himself blinking in sudden surprise when Jimmy's hand landed gently on his head. This time, he didn't even flinch, but merely peered questioningly at his friend through the blinding veil of hair that had fallen over his eyes as soon as Jimmy ruffled it.
“Good lad.” He said, and despite the evident teasing in his voice, Kougu took the praise to heart. “And I promise it'll be worth it.”
Eyes wide, he stared after Jimmy from behind his mess of a fringe, peeking shyly through the dark bangs as his friend vanished into the kitchen. His scalp still tingled from the touch of Jimmy's hand, and as a bubbly warmth spread from the pit of his stomach, he began to feel stupid for how much those two silly words had affected him. He blushed at the thought, rubbing his arm awkwardly as goosebumps crept over his skin. He couldn't help it. As pathetic as it was, he had been striving his whole life for a few simple words of praise. He had burst his heart trying to win them from his father, and now, Jimmy was closest thing he had. As the only man in his life that he actually looked up to - although he was far too shy to admit it - Jimmy's praise meant the world to Kougu.

Annoyed that something so silly could affect him so much, Kougu shook his head, and tried to rub the blush from his cheeks with cold hands. Shivering at the touch, he turned around and slunk timidly back to his bedroom, resigning himself to a night of torture and torment with Jimmy.
A few minutes of rummaging through his luggage later, Kougu managed to uncover a few clothes that actually fit, and clambered uncomfortably into them. He felt awkward with his usual bare feet and baggy hoodie, but if he was going to go out in public, he had to at least attempt to blend in. He looked down at himself, pale legs concealed by a pair of black cargo pants which just flared out over the tops of his laced leather boots. He shrugged his shoulders, and shuddered at the tightness of the leather jacket around them. He wasn't used to having his mobility restricted, but he figured that perhaps, in this scenario, it might be a good thing.  He gave the high collar around his neck a sharp tug, then snatched a white scarf from the dresser beside him, and wrapped it around his neck to guard against the chill. The final touch to his outfit was a pair of dark shades, although those were more to save him from making eye contact than anything else.
Dropping his wallet into his pocket, he opened the door and headed out into the living room, thumbs hooked loosely into his pockets. He had managed to tame his hair for the time being, and although his jagged fringe swept stylishly across his face, he knew that it wouldn't stay that way for long, with the stressful night he had ahead of him. He would be lucky if he had any hair left at all...
Sighing at the thought, he took off his sunglasses, hooking them onto his shirt, and drummed his fingers anxiously on the back of the couch as he waited for Jimmy. Honestly, he just wanted to get this over with. Even more honestly, he was kind of looking forward to spending some time with Jimmy, acting like a normal guy for once... Even if it was going to be complete hell.

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Jimmy was surprised to return to the lounge and see that Kougu had already fled the scene. But Jimmy wasn't worried about this, since Kougu had already accepted the challenge. The poor guy had robably gone upstairs to cry.
Shrugging this off, Jimmy lounged on the sofa with his coffee. Some weird game show was on the TV, which he allowed himself to get lost in whilst he waited for Kougu to get ready. Not that he was going to make any effort himself. It was late at night they would be wandering around the streets, no point showering or making any effort on his appearance, since no one would really see or pay attention to him
In fact, Kougu didn't take too long in his room. Jimmy was just about to finish his coffee – he was slurping his last mouthful – when he heard footsteps enter the room. Turning around casually in his seat he glanced up at the male-in-leather stood by the door, and nearly excreted in his fright. The stranger had Kougu's face... But that was the only similarity to this figure and the man who had disappeared upstairs. He was stood there, looking suddenly confident in his place leather jacket, scarf and boots. He looked like a biker, without the beard and far better dressed.
The coffee in Jimmy's mouth nearly blurted out onto the sofa. He quickly clamped a hand over his mouth to stop it.
“Ko-” He began, but the coffee in his mouth was beginning to dribble down his windpipe in it's desperation, and before he knew he he was coughing and spluttering, yet trying to the best of his ability not to spit it out like an idiot. In an attempt to save his dignity, he raised a finger in Kougu's direction, motioning that he would be just a moment, and stood up and fled to the kitchen. There he spat out the last beloved mouthful of coffee down the sink, coughing and choking the tiny droplet that was threatening at the top of his windpipe.
Once he'd sorted himself out he wandered back to the entrance to the lounge, his cheeks puffed red, and stared unblinkingly at Kougu's outfit for the second time. It wasn't that it didn't work, because it did, and Kougu suited the look, in a very weird way. But it was the fact that he owned clothes that nice and expensive-looking before they'd gone shopping, that he knew exactly how to style himself, and the fact that his entire demeanour changed when he wore it. And the way his hair, usually some scratty bedhead was now styled perfectly in a one-sided swish, as if the wind had made it that way.
In another word, Kougu looked... Good.
“Y-y-you... Clothes...” Jimmy gasped, looking perhaps more horrified than he felt. “The... L-leather, y-your jacket...” He stuttered pathetically, gaping at Kougu's dark jeans and white shirt under his jacket. Jesus... He even had shades. For night time.
Yeah... That made sense.
“You look... Good.” Jimmy concluded finally, looking extremely confused. Why did he look good? Why had he decided to wear slick clothes?
Why was Jimmy suddenly so bothered about it?
Realising his cheeks were still flushed a mild shade of beetroot, he cleared his throat awkwardly and wiped the remaining coffee droplet from his lips with the back of a sleeve. For the first time in his life he felt self-conscious, and he had no idea why.

Kougu turned around, when he heard a strangled noise behind him, but just as he was about to speak to Jimmy, the other man started coughing and spluttering as if he'd just had his head plunged into the toilet. Frowning in concern, Kougu quickly took a step toward him. "Are you...?" Before he could finish, Jimmy raised a finger, so he fell silent, and watched helplessly as his friend rushed off to the kitchen, still coughing. He emerged a few minutes later, red-faced and splattered in coffee, and stared openly. Suddenly, Kougu began to feel uncomfortable.
“Y-y-you... Clothes...” Jimmy stammered, looking utterly horrified. Startled, Kougu looked down at himself, frowning down at his new jacket. “The... L-leather, y-your jacket...”
"What?" He asked uncertainly, tugging self consciously at his open collar. He was feeling suddenly flushed, and deeply ashamed. I must look ridiculous...  He thought to himself, rubbing his arm shyly.
“You look... Good.” Jimmy concluded at last, much to Kougu's surprise. He looked up at his friend, considered him a moment, then shifted back timidly. He had never been good at pinpointing sarcasm, but he was fairly certain - given Jimmy's reaction - that that was it.
"I, um..." He cleared his through awkwardly, already starting to scratch his hair so it stuck up at the side, "I thought I might fit in better like this." He shrugged, excusing his outfit, "I just don't want to attract unwanted attention, and..." He trailed off, blushing in earnest now, and mumbled, "Sorry. I'll go change." He pushed his hands back into his pockets, leaving his hair sticking up messily, and turned back toward his bedroom, hiding behind raised shoulders. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been so embarrassed. Except for the night before, of course. And the day before that. In fact, it seemed that nearly every day he spent with Jimmy was a day spent effectively embarrassing himself throughout. He just couldn't catch a break.

Kougu looked oddly apologetic, like he didn't quite understand the compliment. Didn't Charlie compliment him? Didn't he understand the concept? He certainly didn't look pleased, and this caused Jimmy to blush further. He felt stupid. Never had he complimented anyone's appearance and already it was backfiring quickly.
I thought I might fit in better like this.” Kougu mumbled, “I just don't want to attract unwanted attention, and...” He trailed off suddenly, blushing guiltily again.
Sorry. I'll go change.
“W-what?” Jimmy muttered, scrunching his eyes closed and shaking his head. He wasn't sure how it had backfired, but he needed to clear it up before Kougu thought he'd done something. That awkward, pathetically sad face was pissing Jimmy off.
Kougu turned away to leave the room, but Jimmy took a quick step forward. He was still nowhere near Kougu, but he had no intention of letting the man think he was in the wrong. If there was even a wrong. “Wait.” He ordered, hopefully stopping Kougu in his tracks. “Kougu, I mean it. You look good.”
Don't make me say it again, asshole.
“I just... Didn't expect you to.” He chuckled awkwardly, not quite as ashamed of this confession as anyone else would be. Growing up in the environment he had, he'd never cared much about his appearance, and until now, he'd thought Kougu didn't either. “Don't change. It suits you.” He nodded awkwardly in the general direction of Kougu's outfit, then cleared his throat and scratched the back of his head. That would make him look a little shabby in comparison, he realised. But there wasn't a lot he could do, except wear the clothes he'd bought to wear at the gay club...
He blushed.
“Yeah... I'll...” He gestured to the door and wandered out, brushing passed Kougu in the process and accidentally getting a feel of leather with the back of his hand, and fled to change in his room.

"Wait." Jimmy said, and Kougu stopped obediently, looking back at Jimmy and blinking puzzledly. “Kougu, I mean it." Jimmy said seriously, "You look good."
Stunned, Kougu just stared blankly at Jimmy, not quite sure of what to say. He wasn't used to people complimenting his appearance. And apparently, he wasn't quite used to the concept of sarcasm, either.
"Oh." He said at last, blushing an even redder shade as he realized his mistake. "Thanks."
“I just... Didn't expect you to.” Jimmy explained himself, and as he uttered a soft chuckle, Kougu felt his own lips curve in gentle amusement. Now that was a comment he could understand. He hadn't much expected himself to look good, either. Much less for Jimmy to comment on it. He supposed they'd both been taken a bit by surprise. “Don't change." Jimmy concluded at last, "It suits you.” He mumbled something incoherent, looking uncharacteristically uncomfortable, then walked off to change, leaving Kougu standing awkwardly in the middle of the lounge, still feeling vaguely startled and confused. That had been, without a doubt, one of the oddest moments of his life. The awkwardness was palpable.

He didn't have to wait long before Jimmy returned, and once they were both ready, Kougu unlocked the door and let himself out, locking it after Jimmy had joined him. They headed to the car together, and Kougu tossed Jimmy the keys. He knew best where he wanted to go. This time, Kougu was only a passenger. Letting himself into the car, he buckled up his seatbelt, then turned to face Jimmy.
"So where are we going?" He asked, curiosity overcoming dread now that their 'mission' was actually about to start. He would make it through this, somehow. It wouldn't be easy, but he'd make it through.

Jimmy paid as much attention as he could to his appearance, but he was new to the whole 'style' thing, and outfit after outfit he couldn't seem to find sense in it. Eventually he ended up sticking to a plain t-shirt with an open hoodie, a thick jacket and jeans. Compared to Kougu he looked almost like a homeless guy, but he'd get over that fact sooner or later.
It didn't take long for him after that to get ready and be in the car, when Kougu handed him the keys.
Obviously the silent agreement had been made. Jimmy nodded in comprehension, excited butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. His turn to drive the BMW! For fun, this time.
So where are we going?” Kougu asked, his face lit up with curiosity. Jimmy shrugged and pulled his belt around himself, then revved up the engine.
“Wherever the road takes us.” He replied, rubbing the steering wheel eagerly. “The statue of Liberty, maybe? Might as well go visit it while Liberty still stands.”
His eager smile sank a little. Of course, society would be taking it's turn for the worst very soon. This might be the last time they would be able to walk around freely before people started looking for them.
“We could park the car somewhere and call for a cab.” He shrugged. “They'll know the city better than us, and it'll save the time we'd be spending getting lost.”

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:09 pm

Kougu was uncertain whether Jimmy's comment about liberty was supposed to be a joke or not, but if it was, then neither of them laughed. The situation was serious, and reminders of it certainly did nothing to lift a man's spirits. The statue of liberty would be slapped in irons soon enough.
"Sounds good." Kougu agreed mildly, staring out of the window. He wasn't going to argue, in any case. Staring at a giant sculpture seemed like a safe enough situation for him - better than a gentleman's club, in any case.
“We could park the car somewhere and call for a cab.” Jimmy suggested, and Kougu's head snapped away from the window like a puppet on a strong, “They'll know the city better than us, and it'll save the time we'd be spending getting lost.”
"I don't trust cabs." He objected suspiciously, "They could take us anywhere, and we wouldn't even know. Besides, I don't have cash on me, just my card." He patted his wallet, "At least if we've got the car with us, we know we can make a quick getaway if we have to."
He didn't bother to elaborate. Jimmy ought to know as well as he did that they were hardly welcome guests in the country. It was only a matter of time before somebody caught on to what they were doing. Knowing his father, Kougu expected that he had figured it out already, and was just biding his time considering his first move. It was like they were pieces in a game. If he wasn't living life ten moves ahead, he was sure to lose.
"Shall we go?" He asked, nodding toward the gate, which had been open for quite some time, waiting for them to leave.
The sooner we go, the sooner this senseless 'fun' will be over.

A short but traffic-heavy drive later, the shiny BMW pulled up in a parking bay near the Statue of Liberty ((Because I so know how New York works. XD )) And Kougu squinted through the window to see the great sculpture, stretching  well into the sky, with its brilliant torch thrust up triumphantly.
"It's bigger up close." Kougu mused in an awed whisper, suppressing a shudder as he gaped up at the thing. It was beautiful.
"Let's go take a closer look."
Suddenly excited, he flashed Jimmy a brief smile, then pulled open his door and got out, spinning around to gaze up at the Statue. The smile remained on his face, and he waited a moment for Jimmy, then started making his way closer to the  famous landmark. It was no wonder people came from all around the world to see it... The sheer power of that one chiseled heap of stone was simply tremendous.

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Post  Dreambug Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:36 pm

Kougu's response wasn't quite the one Jimmy was after, as it reminded him just how serious their situation was. Alas (( Cool )) they weren't there on a holiday, they were there to do serious business. But Jimmy didn't want to think about that. For one single night, he wanted to forget what they were there for, and enjoy this experience whilst he still could.
The truth was, Jimmy was scared. Scared that he'd never see his family again. Scared he'd never have the chance to give Amelia the childhood she missed in Mexico. Scared he wouldn't be there to protect her from the monsters of the world. Technically he was doing than there, but what it something happened to her at home? Alfredo would do his best, but it was Jimmy's job to kick the ass of anyone who threatened to put her in danger.
Sighing, he changed gear and rolled the car out of the gate. This reminder would drag down on his shoulders for sure, and he just prayed that it all would be worth it in the end.

It took them over forty-five minutes to reach the statue of liberty due to heavy traffic, but they git there eventually. It was quiet, due to the time. It was perfect.
They both got out the car, and Jimmy was hit by the frigid wind harshly, and stuffed his hands in his pockets miserably. Kougu's words had stuck, and only now had it truly occurred to him what they were trying to do. Even after their missions, it was only now that it felt more like a serious, yet necessary crime than a holiday gone wrong.
Kougu rushed forward, far more enthralled with the statue now he was stood before it, but now the sight of it made Jimmy's heart grow heavy with despair. Noah would soon find a way to make the statue seem wrong or immoral in some way and order to have it taken down. Along with the freedom of anyone in the United States. Where would it lead then? UK? Mexico? Australia?
Kougu made a soft whisper about taking a closer look, but Jimmy just stood, staring up at the magnificent piece with his hood hanging loosely on the back of his head, his icy-blue eyes sad. He almost forgot about the cold.
“This sh*t's getting real, isn't it?” He asked, loud enough for Kougu to hear. His warm breath came out in whispy, grey steam. After his words his eyes dropped to the base of the statue, then the floor beneath his feet. Then, he scrunched them closed. He didn't want Kougu to see the fear in his eyes, or interpret the shakiness of his tihtly clenched fists as anxiety rather than the cold. “Do you think we can do it? Save America, I mean?”

Kougu had taken only a few steps toward the monument when he realized that Jimmy wasn't following, and he paused, looking back to see his friend staring at the tall grey statue, his pale blue eyes sad in the half-light.
“This sh*t's getting real, isn't it?” He asked softly, and Kougu stopped, his shoulders dropping an inch in sympathy. "It is." He agreed with a subtle incline of his head, his eyes silently searching Jimmy's face as he looked down, hiding his eyes. “Do you think we can do it?" He asked softly, and Kougu saw his hands curl into tense fists at his sides, "Save America, I mean?”
Kougu was silent a long while, considering the question as his intelligent eyes searched Jimmy's tense stance, reading his body language like a book. It was obvious that he was scared, but with the mission they had facing them head on, he'd be mad not to be. In fact, Kougu was impressed. Jimmy's courage was truly admirable, for with the fear held fast in his shaking fists, his power over it was unbelievable. He had been thrown into the deep end of one of the most insane plots in the history of America - perhaps the whole world - and never before had Kougu been more grateful to have such a reliable partner at his side.
"Yes." He said, breaking the silence at last with a voice so confident, it left no room for question. "Yes." He smiled, "I think we can save America." Taking a step toward Jimmy, he gave his friend a brief clap on the shoulder, sharing his new found confidence before it could have a chance to escape him, then turned back toward the Statue with Jimmy at his side, hooking his thumbs into his pockets. "Seems like something out of a movie, doesn't it?" He chuckled under his breath, "Assassinating a mad president to save the world..." Kougu shook his head at the thought. Saying it out loud, he sounded preposterous. It was hard to believe that it was real, but as Jimmy said, the closer they got to their goal, the harder reality hit. Soon enough, there would be no more change to say 'I think we can do it'. It was only a matter of time before 'I think' turned to 'Do or Die'.
"Do you think we can do it?" He asked, eyes creeping up Lady Liberty's arm to fall upon the torch in her hand. "Not that we have much choice at this stage, anyway."

After a long pause Jimmy felt Kougu's presence ease closer to him, and although they weren't physically touching, he felt immediately warmer and comforted. In a country where his family weren't there to comfort him, at least he knew Kougu would be there instead. Perhaps it wasn't quite the same, but it was good enough for him.
Yes.” Kougu replied confidently, not at all taken aback by Jimmy's fear. “Yes. I think we can save America.
Jimmy released a long, shaky breath as a tiny weight rolled off his shoulder. He knew Kougu sucked at lying, and at least his confidence was true. A hand dropped onto his shoulder and his head raised in his surprise, but Jimmy didn't flinch. He welcomed the gesture, more that it came from Kougu.
But if anyone else found out about it, he'd deny it. Obviously.
Seems like something out of a movie, doesn't it?” Kougu said, turning back to the statue with a look of awe. “Assassinating a mad president to save the world...
Jimmy sighed again, scrunching his eyes closed. Shut up about it. He begged silently. I want one more night to pretend it's all gunna be alright. Just one...
Do you think we can do it?
That was it. The pressure was back on him, and Jimmy wasn't even sure he had an answer. Did he think they could do it? Really? Well he didn't want to think it wasn't possible, because the thought of not seeing his family again was too much to bear. But was it realistically possible? Really?
Not that we have much choice at this stage, anyway.
Jimmy regarded this. It was true, he was already in too deep to turn back . But if Kougu thought they could do it, and Jimmy knew he would have only dragged him into this if it was crucial to get right, then of course it had to be possible.
Jimmy swallowed nervously, releasing a warm puff of breath into the frigid air.
“Yes.” He replied not quite as confident as Kougu, but far better than he had been. “Yeah, I-... I think we might be... Able to.”
He nodded as if to emphasise his point, and stared tiredly back up at the statue. The wind brought automatic tears to his eyes, but he didn't wipe them away.
“It's striking, isn't it?” He muttered, watching the torch in Lady Liberty's hand flicker gently. It was a surprisingly calming sight. “You don't realise it until you see it in person.”

Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature] - Page 7 Empty Re: Polo and Dreameh's fanfic RP... ;D Jimmy/Kougu [Probably mature]

Jimmy took his time to answer, and when he finally did, Kougu only nodded. He knew how Jimmy felt; so unsure, so unconvinced - just desperately hopeful that somehow they would make it out alive. It was a terrifying feeling, but Kougu took solace in the fact that they were, at least, taking action. If they played their cards right, he knew that determination would carry him through. Or he hoped so, anyway. No matter what, there was one thing he knew for certain: he would get Jimmy out of here alive, come hell or high water. He swore it on his very life.
“It's striking, isn't it?” Jimmy muttered softly beside him, and Kougu blinked in surprise when he realized that the topic had changed without him. For a moment he was confused, then he looked up at the statue, and comprehension dawned. “You don't realise it until you see it in person.”
"Mm." Kougu nodded, following Jimmy's gaze to the torch. It was true; in person, there was something almost lifelike about the statue. As of she would stand up and fight for America's freedom if it was ever threatened, just like it was about to be. Kougu smiled grimly at the thought. It was a pity she was made of stone; truth be told, they could have used her.

Tearing his gaze away from the Statue, he glanced behind him to see a man sitting on a bench nearby, reading a paper. Kougu didn't remember noticing him before. Just to his right, another man had appeared, smoking casually a few meters away as he stared up at the Statue. Eyes narrowing, he spared another subtle glance over his other shoulder, and caught a glimpse of a black SUV - barely visible in the darkness - parked a little way down the road from the parking lot, hidden by a tree. Near the front wheel of the BMW, he could have sworn his eye caught movement. In an instant, he put two and two together.
They've found us.
"Let's see what it looks like from behind." Kougu said, nodding for Jimmy to follow him. He kept his hands in his pockets, and felt a flash of anxiety when he realized he had no weapons to defend himself. He wondered if Jimmy had remembered to bring some.
As they walked, Kougu kept his ears strained for the sound of following footsteps, and soon enough, as they began to draw away, the sound was there. Then came its echo, once. Twice. Thrice. There were probably more.
As they rounded a corner, Lady Liberty hiding them momentarily, Kougu immediately sprung into action.
"Run!" He hissed, grabbing Jimmy's hand as he bolted toward the street. A flash of Deja Vu came over him as they raced out into the street, narrowly escaping a huge truck that blared its horn as it skimmed past them, headlights bright and dazzling. For an instant Kougu was back in England, reaching out to Charlie as she raced past his alleyway.
Slicked by sweat, Jimmy's hand grew slick in his, and Kougu released it, freeing the man to run at his own pace. He chanced a glance over his shoulder, and looked back to see a group of three sprinting toward them, shouting words lost in the wind.
Where's the fourth?
Cars flashed by on the road, and as a double-decker bus hid them for the space of a heartbeat, Kougu grabbed Jimmy's wrist and pulled him into the narrow alleyway between a fancy diner and what appeared to be a hotel. It was dark despite the well-lit buildings outside, and with a yank on Jimmy's wrist, Kougu dropped down to crouch in the shadow of a dumpster, his muscles strained taut with alertness. For a handful of seconds he was silent as the grave, listening closely, then he looked to Jimmy. "Do you have a gun?" He whispered, his gaze turning sharp as he quickly tried to formulate a plan. "We're outnumbered. There will be more nearby, and they'll find us." He let his gaze travel to the end of the alleyway, searching for a way out. Nothing.
We're trapped. Trapped like rats.

Jimmy felt Kougu tense up beside him, and he knew by the way Kougu hissed a breath and flicked his dark eyes around the area by barely moving his head that it was something serious.
Let's see what it looks like from behind.” He urged, nodding for Jimmy to follow, who did so as if Kougu hadn't made such a stupid suggestion. Who would want to see something like that from behind? But there was obviously something up, and he needed to find out what.
Once they'd reached the shadow of the statue, Jimmy shot Kougu a questioning look.
What is it?
Moments passed but Kougu didn't say anything. He was too busy listening, observing his surroundings like a police dog. Jimmy could practically see his ears twitch. He'd never seen him like that before and it worried him.
Run!” Kougu hissed, bolting forward. Before Jimmy had the chance to react he realised he had been yanked forward, dragged along by the hand, and he didn't have time to whine about it. In fact, in these circumstances he didn't even care Kougu was holding his hand and actually, he was glad. Otherwise he'd have been trailing behind pretty far.
They sprinted across a road, just dodging a huge truck with blazing, white lights, and seconds later Kougu's hand slipped from Jimmy's in the spur of the moment. Despite the cold temperatures, Jimmy's hand was still sweaty. He kept running as fast as his stiff legs would allow, and when he caught a brief glance behind him he found three figures chasing after them. Adrenaline kicked in, and in a flash he was sprinting faster, matching Kougu's lightning speed, wherever they were heading. The figures behind them didn't shoot, but they shouted, loudly into the noisy air. Jimmy couldn't pick up anything, he didn't try, but he knew they had to be cops of some sort. Anyone else would have tried to kill them by this point. They'd probably have succeeded, too.
“Kougu-” Jimmy gasped, but he was running out of breath. He'd missed his training that day. Damn... Why were these goons after them? Was it really to do with Noah, or some stupid mistake?
Once again Kougu grabbed his wrist, and once again Jimmy was yanked into the shadows, down a cold, dank alleyway. Kougu ducked behind a huge dumpster and dragged Jimmy down beside him. Good thing, too. Jimmy was beginning to choke in his breathlessness.
Do you have a gun?
Jimmy stared incredulously at him. After all the fuss back at the house and now he wanted Jimmy to give him a weapon?
We're outnumbered. There will be more nearby, and they'll find us.
“So we're gunna shoot them?” Jimmy replied unconfidently. He didn't like it. And it was is stupid fault for wanting to see the statue. “What if they're just a group of thugs? We are in New York...” Jimmy coughed quietly into his sleeve as he failed to catch his breath. “What would cops have on us, anyway?”
Unless...
“Wait...” Jimmy shot him a worried look. “You think they were sent by the Pres? That they're onto us? Kougu?”
He realised he was babbling, and it wasn't the time, but he was scared. They had been there days, just under a week, and already they were going to be caught? They'd hardly made any progress, and just like that it could all be taken away from them in a heartbeat?
Swallowing nervously, he handed Kougu his gun.

Kougu frowned at the incredulous look Jimmy shot him, and as he was about to repeat his question, Jimmy responded with one of his own.
“So we're gunna shoot them?” This time, it was Kougu's turn to look surprised.
"Of course not." He answered, "I just-"
“What if they're just a group of thugs?" Jimmy demanded breathlessly, Kougu's words clearly going straight over his head, "We are in New York... What would cops have on us, anyway?”
"Well," Kougu peered around the dumpster, "I don't think they're-"
“Wait...” Jimmy interrupted him again, and Kougu sighed, watching patiently as his friend quickly cottoned on, “You think they were sent by the Pres? That they're onto us? Kougu?"
He looked calmly into Jimmy's anxious eyes, and saw comprehension dawn on his face. Silently, he handed over the gun.
"I didn't say you had to give it to me." Kougu objected, pushing Jimmy's hands back toward him, "And we're not going to shoot them. But they don't need to know that." He crept forward, and risked another glance around the dumpster. He could hear voices nearby... It was only a matter of time until they were found. Slowly, he drew in a breath, then leaned back against the wall, staring up at the narrow strip of sky overhead. He couldn't see the stars.
"I'm fairly certain that Noah sent them." He admitted at last, "If I know him, then he knew what we were doing before we even arrived here. It was only a matter of time before he chose to act. This is a game to him." He offered a grim smile, "So we'll just have to play along. We can't fight back;" He mused out loud, "That's what he wants us to do. If we give him any excuse, he'll have us on death row by morning, but if he can't prove we've done anything wrong, then he's still bound by his own laws..." He trailed off, wincing and rubbing his temples. "I have to figure this out... maybe we should-"
"Over there!"
A sudden shout echoed down the alleyway, and Kougu's head snapped up, eyes springing open.
"Go!" He told Jimmy, quickly ushering him to his feet, "Hurry!"
But before they'd even found their feet, running footsteps echoed down the alley, and an intimidating black-clad figure dashed out in front of them, gun at the ready.
"Don't move!" He snapped, and Kougu raised his hands obediently.
There's no point fighting. He reminded himself firmly, Stay calm. Play along...
"On your feet, both of you!"
Slowly, hands still raised, Kougu found his feet. He didn't say a word, but his mind was racing. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't think of a way out of the situation.
If we fight, he'll track us down, and have us on death row before we even get a chance to breathe, but if we run, they could shoot us down right here. We're trapped. His head started to throb, and he clenched his jaw against the pain as he thought harder, willing his mind to come up with some sort of solution. It was impossible.

Jimmy was surprised when Kougu pushed the gun back in his direction, and slowly catching on, he dropped it on the ground. Owning a weapon wouldn't help their case. But where would he put it?
He craned his neck to stare at the dumpster, and in one quick swoop, tossed it in the trash. ((Oh yeah, gone American, now. Cool ))
I'm fairly certain that Noah sent them.” Kougu explained. He looked more stressed than scared. “If I know him, then he knew what we were doing before we even arrived here. It was only a matter of time before he chose to act. This is a game to him. So we'll just have to play along. We can't fight back;" He mused out loud, "That's what he wants us to do. If we give him any excuse, he'll have us on death row by morning, but if he can't prove we've done anything wrong, then he's still bound by his own laws...
Jimmy nodded slowly through this explanation. It made sense. The Pres obviously wanted them to act like criminals so they could stick them in prison like those poor prisoners on death row on the news, and Jimmy was desperate not to let it get that far. He didn't want his sister thinking he was a bad guy, even though he'd had a rough start, and not made the best of choices in his life, he wasn't a villain. He didn't deserve to die.
Kougu said something about figuring something out, but before he could finish his sentence footsteps began thundering down the alleyway. They both looked up in horror. So much for the hiding place.
Kougu shoved him to the side, ushering him to his feet. But it was too late. Within seconds they were cornered by the men in dark clothes, pointing weapons in their direction. Jimmy glanced at Kougu for direction, but his partner just raised his hands in surrender. It was only option realistically, but it made Jimmy's heart sink to think they were about to walk willingly right into the lion's den. He just prayed Kougu had a plan.
Reluctantly, Jimmy also raised his hands, slowly pulling himself to his feet. Bright torch lights burnt his eyes, blinding him from the dark, and he squinted against the pressure. All the while Jimmy kept an eye on Kougu, half hoping he'd have a plan or that he was suddenly going to jump into an attack and Jimmy would play along, but he didn't.
The attackers didn't waste their time handcuffing both men, and Jimmy couldn't control his shaky fists when fear threatened to show in his body language. Here they were, hands cuffed behind their backs, and these secret police could do whatever they wanted. Beat them, shoot them, take them to some torture camp... The possibilities were endless
Except they didn't. They led Jimmy and Kougu out the alley and led them to a black Jaguar, where they were both shoved in the back seat, guarded by two men. Each had a gun pointed casually in the direction of their stomachs.
Jimmy kept his mouth shut, but he shot Kougu a worried glance across the back seat. The car was set out almost like a taxi, with a back seat and another two seats facing towards them in front. It made Jimmy feel totally cornered.
Come on, Kougu. Jimmy begged silently. Tell me you have a plan for this.

Kougu was still searching for a plan right until the moment that his wrists were slapped in irons, and then he felt his shoulders slump in despair. Now there was nothing to do but turn themselves in. He only hoped that if they went quietly, they might somehow stay out of trouble.
Luckily, Jimmy followed his lead, and the pair were shepherded to the car together, where Kougu climbed obediently into the back seat, helped along by a rough shove. He said nothing, but when he caught the worried look Jimmy shot him, he inclined his head slightly, looking perfectly calm and relaxed, as if this was all a part of his plan. In a way, it was. He just wasn't sure what the rest of the plan was yet, aside from 'get out alive'.
"You two were at VJ's last night, weren't you?" A voice asked from the front seat as the vehicle started, pulling out onto the road with a luxurious pur.
"We were." Kougu answered, not bothering to deny it. There was no point covering up a truth that they already knew.
"Then I assume you're aware of what happened to Mister Jefferies?"
"No." Kougu blinked curiously, wriggling his wrists in his handcuffs. They were tight. "What happened?"
A sharp pair of eyes met his in  the rear view mirror, and Kougu held the gaze innocently, playing the part of the victim with all that he was.
"Actually," The driver replied quietly as the car turned off the road, heading down a dark side street, "We were rather hoping that you could tell us."

They pulled up outside a large, apparently out-of-use storage unit nearby the docks, and after one of the men - who Kougu assumed were Noah's private guard - had got out to key in a combination code into a number pad around the side, the large metal door gradually rose with a cantankerous din. The clattering of metal reverberated in Kougu's eardrums, and he shuddered dramatically, his senses as sharp as ever. His ears were still ringing as the group herded them out of the car, and Kougu heard nothing of the threats and orders barked at them as they were chased along to a staircase in the corner, leading down to the basement below. He stumbled on the first step - his balance confused by the ringing in his ears - and nearly fell to the bottom, but a firm hand steadied him, and he was guided along by one of the guards until they reached the bottom, and the man let go to turn on a light. It flickered once, twice, then the whole room burst into eerie whiteness as the fluorescent lights overhead stuttered into life. Kougu winced at the brightness, squinting to shield his eyes, and as they adjusted, he saw an open cell - much like a cage from a zoo - waiting to admit himself and Jimmy. His feet froze automatically to the spot, but a rough shove between the shoulderblades sent him staggering into the cage, where he fell to his knees, bruising his shoulder against the bars on the way down. A moment later, Jimmy followed, and the burliest of the guards pushed them both to the floor, then grabbed a section of rope from one of his accomplices.
"We have reason to believe that you two are enemies of the state," He growled, "And until you can prove otherwise, you are to remain down here." He began winding the rope around them, and Kougu felt his back pressed up against Jimmy's. He felt the subtle dampness of his friend's nervous sweat right through his shirt, and he rolled his shoulders as tension began setting in.
"We'll be back soon to question each of you individually." The guard said as he stood, dusting his huge hands on his trousers, "Wait here, and don't try any funny business."
With that, he slammed the door of the cage shut, padlocked it, then stomped away up the stairs, switching off the light on the way. Suddenly, the basement was bathed in darkness so thick that it made the very air seem solid. Kougu's breathing turned shallow with the illusion, and he felt himself grow lightheaded for a moment, until he felt a subtle movement in the still air, and realized that he could breathe. The basement was ventilated.
"Jimmy?" He murmured, angling his head to look behind him, even though he couldn't see. "How are your cuffs? Can you move?"

The man beside the driver asked – more for clarification than as a general question – about their attendance to the Gentleman's club. Jimmy was about to deny this, but Kougu admitted rather quickly that they had been there, and Jimmy nodded quietly. He guessed there was no point denying that, although he didn't feel like admitting that he'd been the one to knock Vincent out in his private room. Except, they were only under suspicion, which meant Vincent couldn't remember his face, which was a bonus.
For the rest of the journey Jimmy remained silent, leaving all the clever answers to Kougu to avoid putting his foot in it. He did that, sometimes.

Hours could have passed before the car finally rolled to a halt, and they were both guided out of the car. They had stopped in a storage facility by the docks on a wide river that probably led to the sea somewhere. Jimmy's eyes widened at the sight of it. A boat? So these guys were going to get information out of them then throw them into the sea?
He wasn't given a lot of chance to panic because soon enough they were led into a small building with an underground storage area. Except it wasn't storage they found down there, it was cages. Made of thick mesh to ensure no escape.
Jimmy's shoulders sunk in despair. They were well and truly screwed.
The cops weren't very gracious with their handling, as they pushed Jimmy and Kougu harshly into a cell hard enough to cause them both to trip and bash against the mesh. Jimmy swore, he was sure a wire had got at his face, but he felt no blood. He glared at the guard that entered with them, but he didn't raise a fist or steel-toed boot. Instead, he pushed them both on their knees and retrieved some rope, then began to tie them tightly together. Neither man struggled as he finished.
He left with a pathetic threat, padlocking the door behind him, and as he flicked the light switch, the room became engulfed in darkness. Jimmy immediately tensed. Were they going to et them suffocate?
A soft hum of the air vents. No, they hadn't got anything out of them yet, had they?
Jimmy?” Kougu wriggled behind him, and Jimmy rested his head in despair back on Kougu's. He was too tired for this. “How are your cuffs? Can you move?
Was he serious?
“Yeah,” he replied dryly. “Let me just get up and dust myself off, 'kay?” He added sarcastically, releasing a frustrated sigh. “I'm bound by steel, Kougu. The whole point is, I can't move.”
Still, in his irritation, he wriggled his wrists that were pressed agaisnt Kougu's back. The cuffs bit into his skin, and he felt his hands get pins and needles as the blood flow ceased. “Crap.” He swore, as if wriggling would have solved everything.
“You have a plan, right?” He whispered, calming down now. He angled his head so that he could feel Kougu's shaggy hair tickle his ear. “Like... I mean... This isn't it, is it?”
