Harry Potter RP

Three years ago, Harry Potter learnt that he was no ordinary boy. He learnt that, in fact, he was a wizard.
For years he knew nothing of his past, of the excruciating torture his parents were put through to save his life. He is the only person to ever survive the Killing Curse, leaving him with nothing but a single, lighting-bolt shaped scar on his forehead.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a highly respected school suited only to those with magical abilities. It's vital that this school's identity remains a secret, hidden from the sight of all muggles (Non-Magical Folk).

In Harry Potter's third year, he returns to Hogwarts, glad to escape the evil clutches of the Dursleys. But students are going missing. Who is doing it? And what's hidden deep in the Forbidden Forest, guarding something only He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named would desire. Can they put and end to this madness?

Key Personality Traits: Sort of "holier-than-thou", especially when confronted with a Slytherin student. Respects rules, refuses to cheat yet still lets Harry and Ron copy her notes before exams. A good friend, loyal to a fault and a true Gryffindor to the heart.
First appearance in the story: Asking Harry and Ron on the train if they've seen Neville's frog.

Harry sped onto Platform 9 3/4, trundling his large suitcase bearing the Hogwarts logo and Hedwig's cage behind him. The owl gave an annoyed hoot as a few people knocked into him. 'Sorry Hedwig.' he breathed as he made his way onto the train, giving his luggage in. Just as he had stepped on, the scarlet train gave a lurch and started to plow it's way forwards, steam billowing around it like a veil.
Many people were already in their compartments, only a few were in the corridors. Some were first years, he could tell because their eyes were fixed upon his lightning scar. He self-consciously moved his hair in front of it and pushed though. Harry was so fixed on getting a compartment, he nearly walked right into Ron, who had just walked out of the next compartment along.
'Bloody hell Harry, slow down!'
'Sorry Ron, I was in a rush. Dursleys 'forgot' to get me here before the train leaves.' Ron rolled his eyes and pushed Harry into the compartment, following after him and closing the door. They were the only two in there.
'You haven't seen Hermione have you?' Ron asked, staring absent-mindedly out the glass window into the corridor, watching students walk past. Harry shook his head.
'You haven't found her? Maybe she's changing into her robes already.' Ron shrugged.
'We've only just left the station...'

Luna sat on the train, wearing a rather odd pair of glasses and reading a magazine which appeared to be upside down. She didn't bother looking up from her reading as two very loud boys entered the compartment. She flipped a page and gasped, then stuck her nose further into the magazine, engulfed in what it said.

Harry opened his mouth, about to launch into an explanation as to why his scar had hurt over the summer holidays, but then he noticed the curious figure in the corner. Studying her further, he realized it was a girl, about his age, absorbed in a magazine that was clearly upside down. He shut his mouth, anxious to tell Ron. Ron seemed oblivious to the fact that Harry was about to say anything at all, as he looked out into the corridor.

Luna noticed Harry looking at her. "Hello." She said, her voice light and distant. She didn't take her eyes away from The Quibbler, the name of the magazine in her hand. Her features were impossible to see, due to the fact she had massive glasses on her face, which were circular with little juts sticking out. The faintly resembled the word bubbles used in comic books.

Ron had to stifle a snigger as Harry looked back at Luna as she spoke. 'Um - Hi.' he couldn't see around The Quibbler, she was holding the magazine too close to her face to see anything, but big, rounded glasses obscured her eyes and part of her nose. Harry cleared his throat. 'So-' He was grasping at a random topic '-any guesses on who's the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher this year?' He asked conversationally to Ron, who was still laughing. He straightened up.
'No, I don't think so. Dad says it'll be someone who won't leave. I mean, Quirrel got killed, serves him right, and poor old Lockheart still thinks he's a manufacturer of Dragon Dung.'

Luna pulls the magazine away from her face. She stares at the boys, not removing her glasses. "I do so hope the new teacher will teach something about the animals not presented in the books. Maybe mention something about the Crumple-Horned Snorkack." Her voice was distant and far-off. She finally removed the glasses, revealing distant blue eyes, and a rather pale face. She wasn't ugly, and she wasn't gorgeous. Either way she didn't care. Barely visible were earrings that looked something like radishes.

Ron opened his mouth to ask something that was probably along the lines of 'What is a Crumple Horned Snorlack?', but as soon as he had, Harry gave him a 'I don't know!' look. They both looked at the strange girl.
'What's your name?' Ron asked, trying not so sound a little ridicule. Harry thought her rather charming, once you got past her bizarre glasses, and earrings that dangerously looked like radishes.

"Luna Lovegood. My father is Xenophilius Lovegood, editor of The Quibbler. It's a most spectacular read. You should read it. Here." She piled many copies of The Quibbler onto her lap, and began to sort.

[[Hey, I was thinking, do you want to go by the plot pf another book? Say, the Order of the Phoenix? Luna's in that one a lot, and I think it'd be better to stick to the story of another book. My head's a bit jumbled, and I can't really think up a decent way for the plot to go... :/ ]]
