[Are you going to start?]

[Sure.]

Iris sat on the beach, her paws slightly dipped in the cool sea water, and she lay back on the sand, listening to the rhythmic rush of the tide as it moved steadily in and out.
Sighing, she opened her eyes and looked up at the beautiful clear blue sky, not a cloud to be seen.

Forge, being ever-curious and ever up to mischief, crept up on the faye until he was crouching just behind her, and looked upside-down into her face. "You're upside down," he commented."

Her view was disrupted by a messy-haired wolf, who peered at her curiously. "Well spotted. Unfortunately you are the one who is upside down." She commented with a smile, studying the male's features with interest. She had seen him around a few times, but had never plucked up the courage to talk to him.

Forge blinked ice blue eyes at her in surprise, ears flattening. "Huh. Are you sure?"

He sat back and curled his tail around his paws, cocked his head to the side interestedly. He'd never seen her before today, but had caught her scent around the area. And, as he had a moment to go find out - here he was. AND she's kinda cute. "I'm Forge," he said quickly, before he forgot his manners. "Er, how are you?"

You're a real GENIUS, idiot.

Iris shifted so she was facing the male, sitting cross legged in the sand. "I'm Iris, and I'm very well thank you." She said pleasantly, with a smile. She brushed some of her short hair out of her face that was being blown around by the small breeze. "It's a nice day, huh?"

"Uh, aye, it's a good day, good breeze. I was going to take my boat out today and head for one of the islands - an adventure, if you will - but I'm kind of short on crewmates." The boat in question was a red-sailed sailboat, bobbing gently on the waves, tethered to the long dock. He shrugged sheepishly. "I guess everyone else went off partyin' elsewhere..."

Iris' ears perked. "I can come with you if you like! I have some experience when sailing, my father used to own a boat when I was young. Besides, I love the water." She gave the anthro a smile, but she doubted whether he would accept her offer, them only just having met.

"Seriously?" Forge's eyes lit up. The sailboat really only needed maybe two to three people to work, but his current "crew" of carpenters, tailors, workers, sailors, and etc. - the Brotherhood, as it were - were all inland, enjoying the local life and probably too drunk to return. He really could use the extra paw.

Forge hmmmed. Maybe. "Do you know how to splice a line? Trim a sail, navigate by star?" The basic sea-beast knowledge/

I nodded. "I think I can do all those things, but it has been a long time since I sailed a boat. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it again, I can remember being very fond of that old boat we used to have."

"Well, welcome aboard then, Miss Iris," Forge bowed in what he presumed was a gentlebeastly way, despite one ear being a bit floppy and his unruly fur sticking up like a pup's. He offered her his paw. "What kind of boat? What 'appened to it?"

She giggled at his gesture. "Well, my father had to sell it off to someone, because we were very short on money at that time I remember."

"Eesh, weren't a fisherman or naught, was he?" Forge inquired sympathetically. In some cases, to lose a boat was to loose a lot more than just a trade.

I pondered. "I think he fished from time to time, and sold the proceeds. But a lot of the time it was just for pleasure."

"Oh." He walked alongside her up the beach, towards the dock. "So not a sea-faring family, then?"

"Well you could say that." Iris made pleasant conversation. "We didn't really go out to sea much, it was a boat where I learnt to sail on primarily. I remember my father saying something about sailing ships when he was in the Navy."
