His face is casually framed by shorter, loose strands, falling in layers from just above his eyebrows to below his chin. He has a stocky build, and is slightly shorter than most boys his age. He has high, proud cheekbones and a naturally richly tanned complexion. His eyes, though seldom seen, are a bright, fiery shade of brown - seeming almost red when the sun strikes them. He generally stands with a somewhat aloof and disinterested stance, often making himself appear unapproachable. He usually walks with his hands in his pockets, partially because he likes it that way, and partially for the practical purpose of having quicker access to the pen and notepad he keeps there.

An elderly man, with wise, owl-like eyes sat perched up right in an old decrepit leather chair. The chair itself had seen many years, yet it stood grander than ever with the white bearded sage upon its leather cushion. The Sage stroked his beard thoughtfully before finally breaking the silence between himself and his young apprentice, “Is that your final decision then? There’s no turning back once you’ve started, perhaps you should take an easier quest? After all you are still very young to do actual field work”
The black haired boy breathed out in relief at the gentleness of his master’s tone, he had expected the old man to anger at such a request. The boy bowed his head before opening his mouth to speak, his voice filled with new found confidence, “I am ready Master, You’ve trained me well.”
The Old Sage sighed before allowing a faint smile play on his lips, “Good, then I assume you are ready to leave straight away?”
The odd eyed boy pulled his satchel over his shoulder, his face pulled into an excited grin as he replied with a single word, “Yes”
The elderly sage nodded before reaching for a thick navy blue book, his wrinkled fingers then flipped through the pages before coming to a sudden halt at the designated page. He scanned the page for a few seconds, then looked up into his apprentices odd eyes, “Sign here” he stated simply as he pointed to a black line in the book. Caleb nodded before obediently piercing the tip of his index finger with a small needle he had in his pocket. Once the shining appearance of crimson blood came into sight he put his finger to the spot indicated on the page, then signed his initials. The Sage then stood up, his wrinkled fingers clutching the open book in his left hand, while the right was occupied with a long peculiar staff. Caleb stared in awe as his master slashed at the air instantly opening a black portal to another world. “You must go now…take this medallion; it will help find the shards.”, the elderly sage explained, before handing the silver item to Caleb. The black haired boy nodded in thanks to his master, before finally disappearing into the black portal...into the darkness to find the light.

Two years later…

Caleb stood up before dusting the dirt from his jeans. Behind him a black portal closed, disappearing into nothing but air. The boy then gave his head a shake allowing the strands of messy green and black hair to fall back into place.
He turned his attention to his surrounds, by some miracle he had landed up in a school. He pondered on this thought for a while it was somewhat strange…he usually landed up in some twisted realm with things one could only see in nightmares, but this time..hmmm, this time things were very normal, perhaps too normal. Caleb fingered the silver medallion around his neck thoughtfully, his nail tracing around the markings and animate animal symbol that had been engraved into it. It was no good if simply stood here without making some attempt to find out where he was, one could swear he were some lost puppy in a strange new world. The black haired boy began to walk, he was not entirely sure where he was going, but never the less he would eventually get there.
The sudden sight of human figure caught his attention and he was relieved to find the figure a dark haired boy, perhaps even between his own age. The boy had chocolate brown eyes with a mysterious reddish tinge to them, though perhaps it was just his own sight that fooled him into thinking they were more red than brown. Caleb decided he would approached this person, yes and he would ask them where he was and what year it was without sounding like a mad fool……he thought this over a bit… Yeah perhaps he couldn’t do that with out sounding like a fool, but then again why not just be honest about his situation. He stood for a moment, trying to restrain his thoughts from bruising his brain. He approached the boy, not noticing the teen’s disinterested stance, “Um Sorry would you mind telling me what the name of this place is? And perhaps what year it is?” Caleb thought over his words, boy he really did feel like an idiot today.

Tyson stood next to the door to the school. With every student that entered or exited through the door, a gust of icy wind blew over him, flapping the soft bangs of hair framing his face and setting a chill deep into his skin. Ty’s shoulders were hunched up to his neck against the cold, and his hands remained firmly in his pockets, yet he made no move to find a warmer place to be. He simply stood there, enduring the cold weather, and seeming to take savage pleasure in the fact that he could tolerate it without reacting. The passing students did not seem to notice him, for Ty was quiet, and in this school, a quiet student was a nonexistent one. Ty was glad of this, of course. If he stayed perfectly still and made no noise, they would not notice him at all. This was the method he had created to make himself invisible, thus discouraging the others from approaching him. He did not want to socialise with them. He simply could not see the point, and thus he kept to himself.
The door swung open again, and Tyson looked down as a shiver ran through him.
Damn.
He pursed his lips in annoyance, then looked up with a glare as he heard, not a sound, but rather the absence of one. Where a moment before he had heard the steady tapping of footsteps that meant the students were passing him, now he heard nothing. Sure enough, when he looked up, the boy was standing still in front of him, looking directly at him, and clearly directing his rather pointless questions toward Tyson, and nobody else. Tyson blinked coolly at the boy, his reddish-brown eyes sliding slowly up and down – silently judging him. Once his assessment was complete, Tyson decided it was fair to answer the boy’s question. He had noticed Tyson whilst he was being ‘invisible’, after all. That warranted some reaction, he supposed. Besides, it would attract more attention to simply ignore him, and Ty did not want that.
So, with a somewhat bored expression, Tyson slowly removed one hand from his pocket, then flicked it upwards – pointing to the sign above his head, which bore the name of the school. Next, he jerked his thumb backwards behind him – gesturing toward the calendar pinned on the notice board. If he found the boy’s questions at all strange, then Tyson showed no indication of it. It didn’t involve him, so why should he care, anyway?
Having done his job, Tyson looked away, gazing aloofly into the distance in a way that clearly dismissed the boy – his body language all but screaming that this stranger was no longer welcome in Ty’s presence.

The next moment, a loud shout shattered the silence. “TYSON!” The girl screeched, dashing full pelt down the corridor, and drawing curious gazes from every direction. Ty did not react. He simply ignored her completely. “Hey, Ty!” She greeted him loudly, skidding to a stop behind him and slapping him jovially on the back. “Chip on your shoulder again, Buddy?” She questioned cheerfully, obviously not quite receiving Ty’s blatantly obvious ‘crawl into a hole and die’ vibes. “Oooooh, who’s your friend?!” She squealed eagerly, leaning over Ty so her chest was pressed awkwardly into his shoulderblades and staring open-mouthed at the newcomer. “Oh my gosh, he’s gorgeous!” She exclaimed in a stage whisper, easily loud enough for everyone to hear, despite the fact that she was whispering into Ty’s ear. He continued to ignore her, but as she continued blabbering on, he raised one hand to slowly and dramatically wipe the saliva away from his ear. Then he turned his attention elsewhere and stared blankly out of a nearby window.
Meanwhile, Lizzie was openly turning the old charm on the newcomer. “Hey there!” She greeted him confidently, “Are you new here? I bet you are. You look new, anyways.” She swayed flirtatiously from side to side as she spoke, a feminine sing-song note to her voice. “My name’s Elizabeth, but you can call me Lizzie. And this old lump-“ She elbowed Tyson, who closed his eyes and turned his head slowly, with ill suffering patience, then slowly opened his eyes again and blinked disinterestedly at the newcomer. “-Is my brother, Tyson. Ty to his friends.”
At this, Ty reached into his pocket and withdrew a pen and notepad. In his neat, curvy handwriting, he rapidly jotted down a single word.
Tyson.
He held up the paper – just as Lizzie was turning to beckon him closer to greet the strange boy. When she saw what he had written, Lizzie’s mouth dropped open and her face turned beet red in fury. “Oh no you didn’t, Tyson!” She snapped, glaring at him so angrily he was sure her hair would catch alight. “How dare you be so rude to our new friend?!”
Ty tilted his head slightly to one side as though contemplating this, raising his eyebrows thoughtfully. Then he shrugged, and began writing on his notepad again.
“Don’t you answer back, young man!” Lizzie snapped, snatching the paper from his hand and holding it up out of his reach. He was taller than her, and could have reached it if he wanted to, but he saw no point in making a scene. Lizzie was being enough of a drama queen for the both of them. But she was distracted again now, talking to her new boy toy…
“So~” She went on, turning back to the boy. “Sorry about him… Anyway… Like… What’s your name?” She smiled and fluttered her eyelashes at him, while Tyson watched with a complete lack of interest – as though he was merely watching paint dry.
