((Decided to put the warning in the title, just in case. Smile I don't trust my antagonist characters. O.o ))

Thanks so much to Arby for the plot ideas! XD

My character:

Laiko
Age 17
Appearance Quite the handsome little guy. Razz Very fluffy hair, and generally has a bright, friendly and innocent expression - like a kiddiewinkel. ^_^ He's also relatively tall - just a little above average. Smile
Everything else is pretty much to be RPed, which it will be. Wink

He has 2 roommates - Mike and Kevin (Prop characters)
Volunteers at ETU (Emotional Trauma Unit) - an organization for helping victims of traumatic crimes to learn to live normally again. (No commenting on Polo's naming skills unless you have a better suggestion. XD Haha!) He is currently assigned to help Ria.

Maricia "Ria" Chastmen
16 years old
Baby blue, puppy-dog eyes. Messy layered chocolate brown hair that sweeps down across her right eye which goes down to her mid-chest. Doesn't neccesarily have a specific style. She could fill the country-girl boots or the modern-chick heels. But, she wears what she feels like, when she feels like. Her hair either in a messy bun or down, framing her face. Her eyes are usually rimmed with brown eyeliner, then accented with pink and grey eyeshadow to give it the smokey eye look. Her personality is usually quite stand-off-ish. Around the girls she has many friends. But, the minute that you get a guy close to her that she doesn't know she gets quiet and hides behind her bangs and friends. She can 'read' the girls emotions and tell whether they are lying to her because she can't stand to be betrayed, her heart wouldn't be able to take it.

Other important information - Was kidnapped at the age of fourteen for two months time. During that time she was raped multpile times. News of her kidnapping was all over the news, though no one knew about the rape as her family kept it hidden from the reporters. Only one article exists telling about her rape, and it is from her old city. She has moved to a different town and her parents have forced her into a trauma treatment center because she is still having panic attacks at school after being homeschooled for so long after the incident. She prefers not to talk about it, and anyone getting in her personal space usually causes some issues, ecspecially if they are of the opposite gender.

Am I supposed to actually start the roleplay orr... yea... xD

Post  Abba is back in school Sat Apr 30, 2011 7:35 pm

The sunlight filtered into the room, the cold room with pure white walls and no emotional pieces scattered around. The wooden floors were freezing to the touch in this house because the air was always cranked up as high as possible so that Ria didn't have a panic attack when it got too hot. Afterall, the cell she had been placed in had been tiny, concrete walls and floors with a tattered cot in the corner and a bucket for the toilet. Food had been given to her through a tiny opening, only big enough for a tray with food to slid through, that was positioned on the floor. The door was a cast iron one, almost like you would see on a safe. No windows, only artifical light from one naked bulb in the middle of the room, dangling slightly. Her room was bright for this reason. No personal effects because any of the ones from the past reminded her that she really had been kidnapped. She had distanced herself so well from everyone after the incident she literally had no friends. But, after missing her freshman year of highschool, and with her father getting a job in a different state, her parents were insisting that she return to school. They said it would be much better if she could socialize with people and get used to the world again. They also said that maybe she could find someone of which she would trust and or possibly a guy that would understand, wouldn't care, and would want to be with her. Ria highly doubted that someone like that existed at this age but yet she took their advice. Her eyes slowly fluttered open as the sunlight hit her eyes, reminding her that it was now around seven o'clock in the morning. She had almost two hours to prepare for school. Silently, she allowed her feet to peek out from under the thin sheets and then dropped them over the side of her bed. They dangled just about the floor before she scooted to the edge of the bed and allowed them to drop, hitting the floor just right as she stood up. Her eyes darted around the room once more, ensuring herself that it was not the confined space of the kidnapping cell before she exited the room and entered the bathroom down the hall. Her hand gently spun the shower water onto hot, her eyes catching the parallel scars on her wrists from when she had cut herself with a razor while stuck inside that cell. Of course, the disgusting animal who had kidnapped her would require her to shave and take a cold shower before he forced her onto a bed and did what he pleased until his heart was content. But, she had hidden the razor from him, under the cot, and when he had left her and she was able to move she had cut a slit in her wrist. Once for each time he had done it to her. It was a haunting reminder, but at the time, it had released a lot of the fear and pain that had been building up inside of her. She had seven or eight parallel lines on each arm, and if you looked closely a few more on her legs. As the days had inched on, she had become more of a toy to him than the girl he had just kidnapped. It had seemed as if he had forgotten that he had even taken her and that the cops were looking for them. Either that, or he knew for sure that they wouldn't find her now. Well, he thought he knew, as they obviously found her. Her mind inched back into real life before stripping down and then slipping into the warm shower and washing her hair and continuing with her normal routine. The smell of the shampoo proved to her that she was safter than she had been two years ago. She bit her lip, hopping out and then drying herself off with the towel. Her wet locks clung to her back as she paused infront of the mirror, taking herself in. She had realized that her expression seemed to be locked in that of a scared cat's. Her eyes were wide, and her mouth set into a straight line or a frown. Her brows were slightly furrowed. Shaking her head she grasped onto the hair dryer and dried her hair quickly, without much thought before sitting down in the chair and quickly applying her makeup, bringing out her blue eyes unintentionally. Quietly, she slipped back into her room before rummaging around her closet for an outfit to wear. Finally she decided upon a pair of dark denim jeans and a nice flowy shirt along with a bunch of bracelts to hide the scars. Then, she sat back down infront of the mirror and straightened her hair so that it wasn't wavy as it usually was. Her gaze inched towards a clock and realized that by now it was 8:15. Rolling her eyes she slid into a pair of red pumps and grasped her red bag with all of her school supplies before slipping down the stairs. "Have a good day at school sweetie!" her mother called at her as she opened the front door. "I hate you." Ria called back before slamming the door shut and sliding into her red mustang she had recieved as her sixteenth birthday present. She turned the radio on a bit louder before becoming aggrivated with the talk and no music, no matter which station she turned it onto, and quickly put in her OneRepublic CD. She turned the volume up in even louder before pulling out, singing along to it in her perfect tune. That was one of her talents, along with art and photography, her singing was something anyone could easily recognize. And with that she headed towards the school building, her body trembling slightly in worry. There were going to be too many people there in one place. No one would notice if she disappeared, like she had but two years back...

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Sun May 01, 2011 3:26 am

((Not going to be able to keep up long posts, I’m afraid. I’m already in one long RP, and lots of short ones – I’m not going to have time to consistently type over a thousand words… Razz ))

Laiko awoke with a groan, his eyelids sliding slowly upwards to reveal just a sliver of his bright, emerald green eyes. Already, he could feel the stiffness in his neck from sleeping on a couch for the past… Oh shoot, how many days had it been?!
Laiko’s eyes sprung open completely in alarm – so bright and wide that they looked like a pair of tennis balls. He scrambled off the two-seater couch – tripping over his blanket in the process and managing to fall flat on his face. “Ouch, ouch, ouch!” He complained bitterly, slowly pushing himself up with arms that seemed strangely well adapted to this sort of thing, considering how seldom he actually worked out.
“What day is is?!” He called in distress while he struggled to disentangle himself from the blanket, which seemed determined to cling to him like a sticky spider’s web.
There was no response to his question, aside from his own desperate voice echoing back to him – so Laiko took matters into his own hands.
Finally, he managed to escape the blanket’s tenacious clutches – though it tripped him one last time as he tried to dash away.
He hit the ground face-first, and simply lay there a while. “Ouch.” He repeated, though his voice came out as nothing more than a muffled grunt, since his face was pressed against the hard wood floor.
Finally, he managed to scramble to his feet – rubbing his bruised forehead tenderly.
Once he had found his balance, he hurried into the next room. This room was a typical office, with a messy desk, a couple of pot plants and some bookshelves. The ETU really didn’t need any of this. In fact, they didn’t really even need a headquarters – but as it were, their enthusiastic leader had secured the premises for them, so this was now where they met regularly.
One other perk of the office, of course, was that people could actually come in to inform them of persons requiring assistance – though admittedly that seldom happened. One was more likely to find a group of the ETU volunteers screaming madly and jumping up and down while they played video games in the ‘recreation room’ – which was where Laiko had been sleeping for the past-
GAH!, how many days?! Refocus!
With panic striking him again, Laiko darted forward like a racehorse out of a starting gate – almost crashing into the desk in his haste. But, thankfully, he stopped just in time, and snatched the little desktop calendar from amongst the mess of books and papers.
His eyes quickly darted over the days he had already crossed off, and came to rest on the one right after the final cross. This block had been circled very enthusiastically in many colours, as though somebody had let a hyperactive toddler get hold of it.
Laiko stared at the colours, and his lips pulled upwards into a beam that simply sparkled with innocence.
That had been fun.
But wait… That meant today was…
Jumping in shock, Laiko began diving wildly around the room, trying to gather everything he needed. He couldn’t be late for school – that was against the rules! He couldn’t break the rules, or the Principal would be angry – and he didn’t want to make the Principal angry…
Besides, Maricia Chastmen was starting today, and she was his current mission. He had to be there.
Practically whimpering in nervous excitement – Laiko bounced on one foot to the door while he tugged on his shoe.
He finally got it on just as he reached the door – but as he was about to pull the door open, it swung in toward him.
Laiko leaped back with cat-like reflexes, only just managing to avoid taking yet another hard, wooden object to the face.
In the doorway stood a plump middle-aged man with a cap and a prickly black moustache, and he stared at Laiko is mild surprise.
“Laiko, shouldn’t you be at school?” He questioned curiously, “I didn’t take you as the type to bunk.” ((Not sure what word you guys use… Skip, Skive, I dunno. Razz We use bunk. Wink ))
Laiko’s eyes widened in horror, and he shook his head rapidly. “No, Sir! I’d never-“
“Relax, Laiko, I’m not the school police.” The man laughed, ruffling Laiko’s fluffy blond hair affectionately, then glancing toward his watch. “It’s only 6:30AM, so you still have plenty of time.”
Breathing a relieved sigh, Laiko collapsed against the wall, a silly smile scampering across his face. “Thanks, Mister Stewart.” He said, beaming gratefully up at the man.
“For the last time, Laiko.” He replied with a frown, “We’re co-workers, so call me Frank.”
“Yes sir!”
“No, Laiko, you’re missing the point…”
“Sorry Mister Frank, but I still have to shower when I get to school, so I’m going to be really late if I don’t go right now!”
“Laiko, wait-“
“Bye Mister Frank, sir!”
“Laiko!”
Clang.
The door slammed shut, and Laiko was gone, leaving Frank Stewart staring incredulously after him as he sprinted down the street, humming cheerfully. “What a strange boy…” He murmured to himself, shaking his head. He sighed, then ambled over to the desk and sat down. His eyes soon came to rest on a half-eaten bar of chocolate that had been left there. He picked it up, and his upper-lip curled in a disgusted sneer, but then he shrugged and popped it into his mouth anyway, munching merrily as he began sorting through the papers on the desk. Somehow, Laiko’s cheerful attitude was always infectious.

After a 10 minute run to the school, Laiko charged full-speed into his dorm. Everybody had been forced to go home for the holidays – which was, of course, the reason he had been staying at headquarters. His neck was still sore, but he didn’t really mind. All the same, he was glad to be home!
With a grin as bright as the sun, he skipped into the familiar room, then dumped his few belongings on the middle bed (Between Mike’s and Kevin’s) and dashed into the little en-suite bathroom for a shower.
He emerged not long later with his long blond hair plastered down over his eyes by wetness. He wore a pair of slightly tatty old jeans, and a lovely pink shirt that had been a gift from Mike. Laiko was extremely fond of this shirt – mostly because Mike had given it to him, but also because he had seldom owned something ‘new’ before. As it turned out, the shirt looked surprisingly good on him. Most clothes seemed to, no matter how ridiculous. Mike, of course, had not anticipated this.
Thus, pink-clad and handsome, Laiko left the dorm with his school bag flung over his shoulder, and skipped out toward the school yard, whistling cheerfully. It was 7:30AM now, so he still had a bit of time before school started.
Hopefully he would find Mike and Kevin somewhere… Or even get to meet Ria! He was very excited about that…

Post  Abba is back in school Sun May 01, 2011 2:03 pm

Ria stayed inside her car for a bit. The doors locked tightly as she felt her heart pounding. She was expecting a swarm of people towards the front door as per usual at any school. But, instead, as she gazed around she noticed quite a few dorms. School started now at eight forty, or so that's what her parents had told her. She clenched her hands as the nervousness took over. Still, if there was a small amount of people, then everyone would know she was new. Hell, even a few people might recognize her face from the papers that had been circulating around the country after the incident. Biting her lip she glanced out the windshield, still humming along to the music radiating from her car stereo system. If it was as small of a school as it seemed, though, people would probably notice if she went missing again. With that, she nodded her head, more or less reassuring herself than anything else before unlocking the car doors and slipping out. Her heels gently clacking against the concrete as she walked around to the other side of her car, grasping her red school bag and then closed the door quietly. Her fingers played around with the keys until they hit the lock button, pressing it twice to ensure that the car was locked as it beeped and the lights flashed, proving her theory. But, would she really be safe in this school? Her mind slipped back to something about a truama center and she rolled her eyes. Why had her parents decided that it would be amazing to go and get her someone to talk to and follow her around? Maybe it would just spook her even more. Or maybe... maybe she would actually find someone who she could be around without panicing at every single move he or she made. She hated to admit it, though her parents might really be right about this. Her blue orbs searched the school grounds again as people meandered along, hanging out with their friends and laughing as normal teenagers did. They all seemed very carefree here and she wondered if she would ever be able to be like that again. Her left hand was clenched tightly around her purse, prepared to reach in for the pepper spray which sat in the top unzipped pocket for easy access if for some reason someone tried to grab her again. At least this time she would be ready for it. Well, as ready as someone can be for a surprise attack. Taking in a few short breaths she slowly climbed the steps to the front door of the academic building before entering the doors. Her mind taking in everything around her, including the odd colour of the slightly battered lockers and the locks that seemed quite interchangable. Awesome, her parents not only enrolled her in a highschool against her will, they also chose the highschool that looked like it might fall apart and had dorms. If they thought in someway that she was ever going to stay in one of the dorms then they had something coming. Sure, she might stay in a dorm in college, though it was more likely she have her own apartment with a multitude of locks positioned on the door than a dorm room with another person who might decide throwing parties every night was the best thing in the world. Ria slid off to the side, quietly weaving her way in and out of the stream of people that of which weren't really a stream and more like obstacles in her way. Glancing at her sheet of paper she found her locker number, and the combination to the lock. Almost robotically, she scanned the locker numbers until she found hers, it was seemingly secluded from everyone elses, and that was something she enjoyed at this point in time. Her fingers gently twirled in her locker combo to find that the locker was rusted and didn't enjoy the idea of opening. Grumbling something to herself she yanked on it, sending it open yet nearly causing her to fall onto her butt. Catching herself from falling at the last minute she shoved everything she wouldn't need for the days classes before closing it again and muttering something about it needing WD-40. Biting her lip she glanced up at the time. Still, in the school building time she had about another twenty minutes until classes even considered the idea of starting up. Maybe she would just spend some time outside in the morning sunlight that enjoyed blinding people while they tried to look at someone they were talking to. Quite content with being ignored at this time she slipped back out the front doors and found a secluded tree. No one else was around, though it was near the dorms, and she slid down to the ground. Silently, she pulled out her sketchbook and began to continue sketching the cell she had been in. Her origional therapist had said it would be therapeudic to get it out of her head if she put it on paper. She had said that it would never come back to her if she could just get it all out. So. Even two years later, she continued sketching it, drawing every tiny crack and every little shadow. And she didn't dare stop until it looked exactly like the cell she had been in. Her hand moved freely drawing tiny lines along the paper in shading as she became engulfed in the drawing, her mind filling with haunted memories. Then, at that moment she decided she would include herself in there. Maybe that was what was holding her back. Her pencil began to stroke out the outlines of a girl cowering in the corner behind the bed, a razor in her hand, and teeth clenched as she began to cut yet another slit in her wrist. Of course, since it was just the blocking in no one would ever guess that was what it was going to become, or that there were going to be tiny blood stains on the floor of the cell. But, desperately, in her mind she hoped that it would allow all of these horrible fears and memories to disappear. Finally just disappear...

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Sun May 01, 2011 3:19 pm

Laiko tottered merrily around the school grounds, smiling happily at everybody he met – and getting some extremely odd looks in return. One girl waved as he walked past – so Laiko waved back, then continued walking with a chorus of whispering and giggling following him.
Strange – girls often did that when he greeted them. He didn’t fully understand it, but Mike seemed to think that it was a bad thing, so it always made him somewhat nervous…
Speaking of which – where was Mike, anyway?
Laiko stopped walking, and turned slowly in a circle – eyes darting curiously in every direction.
“Mike?!” He shouted innocently – receiving glares from the group of students sitting nearby who were either reading or finishing last minute homework.
“You’re noisy, Laiko.” Came a familiar voice from amongst them.
“Kevin!” Laiko squeaked gleefully, bouncing toward his friend like an excited puppy.
“Hey!” He greeted his friend, diving forward and wrapping his arms around the pudgy boy in an affectionate hug.
“Laiko, get off me.” Kevin ordered wearily, but Laiko wasn’t listening – he was talking. Talking, as it were, extremely fast.
If he’d had a tail, it would most likely have been wagging enough to turn him into a human helicopter at that point.
“Kevin! I missed you! How’ve you been? How was your holiday? Mine was great! Well, not as great as being at school – but great anyway! Great’s a funny word isn’t it? Speaking of words, did you hear about the vocabulary test that Mrs. Whitler is planning? I hear it’s going to be a killer! First week back, too?! I’m really excited! It’s going to be fun, don’t you think? I do love vocabulary. In fact, I love all English, and Maths, and Science, and-“
“LAIKO!”
His friend’s voice finally broke through his babble, and Laiko stopped abruptly – blinking in wide-eyed surprise, with an expression like an innocent toddler.
“Get. Off. Me.” Kevin ordered, speaking very loudly and clearly.
People nearby were starting to snicker, and Laiko cocked his head curiously at them before getting off Kevin’s lap and beaming cheerfully at his friend.
“It’s good to see you, too, Laiko.” Kevin admitted finally, glancing up from behind the book he was reading – his big round glasses glinting in the early morning sunlight.
“Why don’t you go find Mike before he gets into trouble?” Kevin suggested through a wide yawn.
Laiko nodded eagerly in response – then set off with alacrity to search for Mike.

Mike, meanwhile, was on a mission all his own. A never-ending, never-changing mission: to gain the affections of as many girls as was humanly possible. He tended to string at least five along at any one time. Had Laiko known the possible implications this might have for the poor girls, he would probably have stopped his friend – but as always, ignorance was bliss.
Today, Mike had a very special victim. There was a new girl, who did not yet know about the ‘Hansel and Gretel’ rumour circulating about him – that his good looks lured girls in like candy, but that once he had them – he locked them up and plotted to destroy them. Figuratively, of course. Naturally, that rumour meant that getting girls at his own school had become exceedingly difficult.
Right at that moment, Mike was crouched in the low branches of a tree – watching his target. She appeared to be drawing something, but from his position, he couldn’t quite work out what it was.
Well… He supposed it was time to make his move.
Mike dropped from the tree with cat-like precision – landing beside the girl and greeting her with a grin.
“Hey beautiful.” He purred flirtatiously, “What’s your name?”
“MIKE!”
Mike’s head jerked up, and he jumped away from the girl as he saw Laiko sprinting toward him – an uncharacteristic frown on his face.
“Oh, shoot!” Mike muttered, spinning on his heel to make a getaway. Too late.
“What are you playing at?” Laiko demanded, tackling his friend to the ground, and jerking Mike’s arm up instinctively.
“Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!” Mike whimpered, squirming away from Laiko’re grip. “You’re hurting me!”
“I am?!” Laiko exclaimed, aghast. “Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry!!!” He hurriedly released Mike’s arm, jumped off him, and bowed his head in shame.
“Dude, what have I told you about getting all up in my grill when I’ve got company?” He jerked his thumb toward the girl beneath the tree. Laiko glanced briefly at her, then turned back to Mike with a frown. “She doesn’t want your company. Besides, Kevin would be mad if he caught you hitting on a girl again. Remember how mad he was with Emily?”
Mike blinked blankly for a moment, before replying. “Laiko, this is different.”
“How?”
“Emily was his girlfriend.”
Laiko tilted his head curiously to one side. “Does that make a difference?”
Mike goggled at Laiko for a while as though he had grown a second head, then finally laughed and ruffled his friend’s fluffy hair.
“Gosh, Kid, you’re like a flipping alien. I can’t stay angry with something as pathetic as you.”
He laughed, punching Laiko playfully on the shoulder, then walked off – leaving Laiko staring after him in utter confusion.
Does it make a difference?” He asked uncertainly, turning toward the girl. He stared at her a moment, then a lightbulb seemed to go off in his head.
“Oh, right! You’re Ria!” He exclaimed, plonking down cross-legged in front of her like a kid preparing for story time, and beaming brightly. “I’m Laiko – from the ETU. I’m going to be looking out for you.”
He grinned cheerfully at her from where he sat a short distance away, but he didn’t offer his hand as he usually would have. Mister Stewart- Well… Mister Frank, seeing as he had decided to change his name that morning, had warned him that Ria might not be too fond of physical contact… Especially with the opposite sex. Thus, he was supposed to be very careful around her. Of course, she was supposed to trust him – so he couldn’t do anything to intimidate her…
He doubted he’d manage that. Although he meant well, he still didn’t understand society much.
Ever since that incident two years ago…

Polo and Abba-dabba-doo! :3 (Mature content) Empty Re: Polo and Abba-dabba-doo! :3 (Mature content)

Post  Abba is back in school Sun May 01, 2011 4:49 pm

Ria continued drawing, her mind completely engulfed in it as she began to create a bit more definition to her own body, mainly concentrating on her arm and the razor. Her own scars seemed to tingle as she did so, causing chills to run down her spine. The braclets clinging and clanging slightly with every pencil stroke created by a flick of her wrist. She was quite content here just drawing. Her ears picked up on the conversations of a couple of people, one fairly enthusiastic boy that of which everyone seemed to laugh at. Quietly she glanced up, taking her mind off of the drawing she was so intent on finishing. She caught sight of a pudgier boy with glasses who was reading and a lankier boy in a bright pink shirt with fluffy blonde hair almost curled up on his lap. She rolled her eyes, immediately returning to her cut off world as she did so. Sometimes she wondered about people. She paused for a moment as a cool wind cut through and she gently rubbed her arms, her eyes looking at the scars as she pushed the braclets up and then allowed them to clash together at her wrist. After a few more minutes of solitude a young boy plopped to the ground next to her. She jumped immediately, flipping her notebook shut and edging away so that there was at least a foot of space inbetween them. Her hand went straight for her purse as he began talking. "I have absolutely no reason to give you my name." she hissed at him, pushing a bit of her hair behind her ear. She heard his name shouted and immediately added that onto the end of her statement. "Mike..." she nearly growled. By this time, her fingers were wrapped tightly around the bottle of pepper spray preparing to take it out when he was tackled to the ground. Ria quickly gathered her things prepared to stand up and bolt if she had to. Her eyes followed the two of them as they quarreled around on the ground and she shifted her weight from one hand to another as she listened to their conversation. She made one tiny mental note to stay away from Mike and then another mental note that the blonde haired, ditsy boy was called Laiko. She paused when he asked a question in mid-air. "Urm..." she murmered, gently scratching the back of her head. "You really are a blonde... yea. It does make a major difference..." she murmered. Her hand placed her sketchbook into her bag before listening to him, her expression immediately dropping. "I thought my parents were joking when they said that." she grumbled, rolling her eyes. Wait. How did he know her name? They gave out her personal information also. Oh... she was going to kill her parents when she got home. She cocked an eyebrow. "How the hell do you know my name, and what on earth do you even know about me?" she hissed at him, her fingers reclenching the pepper spray bottle in aggrivation. She lifted a hand up to her face, pushing back the same lock of hair that had wiggled its way from behind her ear, causing her bracelets to dangle back down to her elbow, the scars completely visible to him now as she placed the hair back where it was supposed to be. Her eyes scanning him carefully as he sat there. Was he always this... this... what was the right word? Was he always this ignorant and crazy? Yes. Ignorant and crazy would have to do in describing him. Honestly, if he was supposed to be looking out for her, she wasn't sure if this was going to work. Shaking her head her blue eyes caught sight of Mike scurrying off, a couple of girls following and talking to him in the process, all looking starry-eyed. She, on the other hand, would have prefered to be left alone to her drawing and the process of ridding the memories from her mind...

“Ah, so it does…” Laiko murmured in wonderment – making a mental note to commit this to memory.
So that was why Kevin had been so much more upset about Emily than the others. Come to think of it, at the time, Laiko had been rather worried he might actually kill Mike.
It had been terrifying. He hadn’t seen Kevin move even half that much until that day…
He frowned thoughtfully at the memory, then shrugged it off and turned his attention back to Ria, smiling mildly.
When she spoke, he tilted his head innocently to one side – clearly oblivious to her irritation.
“Your name… Well, they told me – because I was assigned to you.” He explained simply.
“That’s all I know, though. Just your name…” His eyes traveled to the scars dashing Ria’s arm, and Laiko’s expression darkened slightly – showing some seriousness for the first time. “And your case.” He finished quietly.
“That’s all I need to know for my mission. The rest isn’t my business, so naturally, I don’t know anything else…” He trailed off, shrugging vaguely.
Laiko watched Ria for a while, blinking placidly, but he soon grew bored, and decided to start talking again.
“Sorry about Mike.” He piped up innocently. “He’s a little over-the-top at times, but he’s harmless, really.” He offered a slight smile – then fell silent again, twiddling his thumbs to amuse himself.
He didn’t like sitting still for long. He tended to have too much energy… But he didn’t like running around too much, either. Mike was always dragging him out early in the morning to run – being the jock that he was.
If there was one thing in the world Laiko hated with pure passion – it was getting up early.
He would if he had to…
But he liked to sleep.
“Sorry, Ria…” Laiko mumbled suddenly as a thought occurred to him. “I wasn’t aware that you hadn’t agreed to this…” He scratched his head somewhat awkwardly. “I can cancel the mission, if you’d prefer.” His wide green eyes shone with honesty as he fixed them directly on her. Laiko was strange like that. Everything important that he said, was spoken like a pledge from the soul.
“If you want me to leave you alone, just say the word.”

Ria slowly removed her hand from the position of clenching the pepper spray. He was quite oblivious to a lot, wasn't he. Ria took in a short breath, "and my case? What exactly is in my case?" she muttered to him, watching as his expression darkened when he saw the scars. Her other arm, looking exactly the same as the one he had seen provided the same look into her past except much darker than before. These scars were jagged and deeper than the others. Each dash she had cut deeper than the last in an effort to relieve more of the pain from her body and usually it ended up working. Only once in the two month span had she even considered the thought of suicide and she hadn't the guts to finish her life so it didn't work and she had dealt with more of the pain, making sure that here cuts were deep and painstaking. She took in a short breath. "Relatively harmless? Do you even know what he is doing to them right now?" she murmered, cocking an eyebrow and giving a tiny laugh at this boy's ignorance. She rolled her eyes, her auburn hair cascading down her back and onto her chest that it framed her face, bringing out her blue eys a bit more as she held his gaze for a second. She took in a tiny breath, her body shaking slightly as another cool wind blew in, this time ruffling her hair and caushing her to remember the cool touch of the disgusting man's fingers against the nape of her neck. Watching him closely for a few more minutes and then shrugged. "You seem to be of no harm, so I don't mind too much." she murmered, her eyes glancing around the school again before pulling out her sketchbook and continuing to work on it. "You know, you might wanna learn how to not talk though. I'm not much company." she murmered her mind diving back into her drawing each tiny little detail of herself huddled in that corner...

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Sun May 01, 2011 5:38 pm

Laiko disregarded Ria’s comment about Mike. He didn’t know what Mike was doing to the girls – but he did know that he trusted his friend, and that Mike would never hurt anybody. Well, perhaps hurt them emotionally, but as Mike would say ‘Don’t hate the player, hate the game’. Laiko didn’t understand this, but since Mike seemed to swear by it – he assumed it had some sort of deep, relevant meaning.
He shrugged off his thoughts, glancing toward Ria as she spoke again.
"You seem to be of no harm, so I don't mind too much."
These words caused Laiko’s smile to broaden considerably, until he was grinning with shiny-eyed innocence at Ria’s words – which he recognised as acceptance. And thus, the beginning of his mission.
It seemed Laiko had never fully comprehended the aims of the ETU. What he was supposed to do was befriend Ria, and gently council her until she felt comfortable in society once more.
But what Laiko instinctively understood about the mission was one thing, and one thing only:
No harm must come to Ria.
No matter what the situation, no matter what the cost, he would not let anybody lay a finger on her. If it meant jumping in front of a moving train to save her, then he would do it in a heartbeat – because that was his mission. And Laiko never backed out on a mission…
"You know, you might wanna learn how to not talk though. I'm not much company."
Ria’s words jerked him back to the present, and Laiko nodded in understanding.
“I will learn.” He promised solemnly, nodding politely, then falling obediently silent – watching Ria like a puppy watching its master.
But he didn’t say anything, not even a word, because that that was his order.
And Laiko never disobeyed orders.

Ria paused, looking up and watching him carefully. She shook her head slightly, letting out a tiny sigh. Such a weird boy he was, such a weird boy. He was almost like a puppy. She recalled Mike saying something about not being able to stay mad at someone as pathetic as he and she could believe it. He really wasn't someone that she could stay mad at for long. She went back into her drawing quite contently for a bit before pausing. "You never answered my question, Laiko." she murmered, having expected a response quite some time ago. She really did want to know exactly what was in her case and what her parents had said. It was a good place to start off with at least, realize how much he knew, and what he expected to see out of her. She bit her lip, pausing her work, and not covering up as she watched him, not really caring at this moment if he saw it or not. If he was working for that truama center then she would have to let him know about it at sometime whether it be now or later. So he could ask what he wanted, even if he wouldn't get an answer. Her blue eyes showed that she seemed to be at peace even though her body seemed rigid and stiff, in her mind she wasn't worried at the moment. She couldn't really understand him, in his pink shirt, frolicking around. Even the guys she had known before the incident acted more like Mike, even if they didn't look like him. Shaking her head she waited for an answer to her earlier stated question so that she could figure out where they stood...

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Sun May 01, 2011 6:01 pm

((Sorry, this one really is too short, but my muse just went... Poof. XD ))

Laiko froze for a moment, panic gripping him.
What did he do when given a contradicting order? She had asked a question, so naturally he felt obliged to answer, but did her earlier demand for silence still stand, or did this question negate it? Was this a test? Biting his lip uncertainly, Laiko struggled to find a solution.
”You never answered my question.”
Well, technically that was a statement, not a question. As such, it didn’t require an answer – but it surely implied that he ought to give one.
So complicated, so confusing! What was he supposed to do?!
Finally, he took a deep breath, then whispered softly, “Um…” He licked his lips nervously – glancing uncertainly from side to side. Right. He thought to himself determinedly, I’ll just answer, and hope it’s the right thing to do!
“You were kidnapped two years ago and held captive for two months.” He recited, speaking as though he was reading directly from a page. “During that time, you were brutally treated, and raped multiple times.”
When he had finished, he fell silent abruptly – then shifted uncomfortably and added in a small voice, “I’m sorry for speaking.”
Never go back on an order, huh?
He bit his lip, feeling terribly guilty all of a sudden for his failure.

((XD It is totally fine, darling. My muse isn't working either on letting me expand.
.o.))

Ria's face fell. He knew about all of that. Now her parents really were going to be dead when she got home. Her eyes, usually full of emotion went void as she bit her lip, holding back the want to grasp something sharp and press it against the skin on her leg as a few memories flooded back into her mind. Why did he have to know? Why did they have to tell him? Why did it always have to come back to her? Why couldn't the memories just leave her be?!? Taking a short breath she nodded her head before hearing his last comment. Something about it caused her to feel a bit of relief as she watched him sitting there awkwardly. "You are sorry for talking? I'm not saying you can't talk, Laiko." she murmered, shaking her head before adding. "Look. The only thing I care about right now is that no one and I do mean no one else knows about what happened." she murmered, fear now glinting in her eyes as she looked away just in time for the warning bell to ring, saying that the students should get to class. She jumped in fear, immediately closing the sketchbook and shoving it into her bag before hopping up. "What do you have first?" she murmered, wanting to stay near someone she knew so she didn't feel completely alone.

((Haha! Oh well. Wink at least we're in the same boat.))

“You’re not…?” He trailed off uncertainly – then simply accepted her words as permission to speak, since she was obviously talking about something far more important, now. A frown of concentration crossed his face as he listened closely. "Look. The only thing I care about right now is that no one and I do mean no one else knows about what happened."
Laiko blinked at Ria in complete surprise. Did she even need to place that order? He was already aware of that, of course. Didn’t she know? How absurd…
“Even under torture, I’d sooner bite off my own tongue and bleed to death than speak a word.” Laiko promised mildly – a placid smile on his innocent face.
When the bell rang, and Laiko saw Ria jump, he instinctively calmed himself – hoping that she would find his confidence somewhat reassuring. People’s minds generally worked that way – they subconsciously adopted the moods or traits of the people around them.
“What do I have first?” He repeated innocently, “Well, whatever you have – I suppose. I adjusted my classes to fit in with your schedule.” He explained brightly, trotting cheerfully along at Ria’s side as they headed toward the school.
“I think we have English first, right? I don’t quite remember…”

Ria cocked an eyebrow at him. "You really are a puppy." she murmered, shaking her head, following him as he headed towards english. "Yep. English is first..." she said. Her heels clacked against the tile, and the sound of that calmed her down. Though, she still watched everyone around her, now watching her with curious eyes and then a few pointing fingers and giggles as they passed. "Please tell me they are giggling at you in the pink shirt..." she muttered, rolling her eyes and allowing her right hand to fall to her side, the braclets jingling with each stride she made. Her eyes continued to take in the old, battered school. It smelled fairly strange, like something that had been there for milleniums. Shaking her head and getting rid of the horrid memory of the cell she continued to trudge forwards. Biting her lip she paused. "How 'bout you tell me a bit bout yourself since you already know my whole past..." she said, her blue orbs watching him intently as he led her to the room, unknowingly.

((But of course. Wink Scary hidden spiders do that to me. o_0 *Glances around room nervously* ))

A puppy? Laiko thought to himself, confused. A… Puppy? How is that possible – I was certain I’m human… I look human, I can communicate with humans… A puppy? Oh well, I’ll just have to ask Kevin what it means later…
Shaking aside his thoughts, he returned his attention to Ria – watching her curiously. She really said the strangest things sometimes.
She muttered something about his shirt as a bunch of laughing people walked past, and Laiko considered the shirt thoughtfully.
He was rather fond of it…
Shrugging vaguely, he answered, “They usually laugh at me.” He paused a moment, then beamed brightly and added, “It’s good to see them happy.”
He hummed cheerfully to himself for a while, then stopped as Ria spoke again – this time questioning him directly.
“Me?” He asked, somewhat surprised. “Well, there’s not much I can tell you. I got hurt two years ago. Quite badly, so I hear. The doctors expected me to die, but I guess I survived, somehow.” He smiled and shrugged, then continued. “I had terrible amnesia when I finally awoke from the coma. I didn’t know where I was, how I’d got there… Not even my own name. The doctors told me that my memories would come back, but…” He trailed off and shrugged again. “They never did. So I rebuilt my life from scratch, with the help of Principal Hayden (my naming skills…), Mike and Kevin… And here I am now.” He gestured vaguely, finishing with a grin.
“We’re here.” He added, opening the door of the English class for Ria to step through.

Ria laughed at the confused look on his face before listening intently to what he said about his past. "Oh. I'm so sorry. Do you even know if Laiko is your real name?" she murmered. Maybe that was why he was so ditsy, he didn't really remember half of things. He really was a good person if he just wanted to make people's days though. That was something she had yet to see in anyone and yet here he was, just glad that people were happy. She glanced around once more before into the room. Carefully, she stepped forwards into it before heading towards the back. "Thanks." she murmered to him as she passed through before placing all her things on the desk and sitting down in the hard plastic chair. The cold, hard, plastic chair. Currently, she wasn't too sure about this school. Everyone seemed a bit... odd. But, she guessed she would meet some other people later, and maybe they wouldn't be as strange.

“It’s not.” Laiko replied unconcernedly, “It’s just what they called me, and it stuck.” Smiling mildly, he followed Ria to the back, and sat down at the desk beside hers – his eyes automatically darting around to scan the room for threats.
Since he had met Ria, and started his mission, Laiko had felt a change in himself. New instincts were awakening in him, and he knew things he didn’t think he should…
When he looked around a room, he no longer saw the room – but rather every possible entrance for a threat, and every possible escape route. The objects in the room were no longer simply ‘school property’ – but potential weapons of self defense, if a fight should break out.
These new instincts made him wonder, not for the first time, just who had he been before…? What had he been?

(OMG The thunder is making me have panic attacks. -.-)

Ria nodded her head slightly, feeling bad for him. At least through all of her problems she could remember who she was and who she had been. Quietly, she pushed a few strands of hair out of the way of her face before beginning to doodle on a blank piece of paper. She didn't really pay attention to it. But, it was of Laiko in a hospital bed with doctors around and the machines beeping. It wasn't a detailed drawing more of a random sketch. All the same it was of him. It seemed the only way she processed bad things now-a-days was through her drawing. And sometimes, how detailed the drawings were scared her. By the time the teacher had entered the room most of the students had filed in and found their seats, all of them at least stealing once glance back towards the two of them.

((*Huggles* Poor Abba! Sad Polo is sorry… *Offers earplugs*
My muse just died completely. Sad I think that means it’s bed time for Polo. *Nods sadly* ))

Laiko glanced briefly toward Ria as he sat there, and he unintentionally caught a glimpse of her drawing. She was talented – that was for sure – but this was not Laiko’s first thought. His first thought was of how shockingly nostalgic the picture seemed to him.
He could still hear the stubborn rhythmic beating of the heart monitor, when the doctors crowding around him were only waiting for it stop. He could still smell the disinfectant – see the bright whiteness all around him…
And the pain.
The intense, mindboggling pain that had gripped every inch of his body…
”Laiko.”
Throbbing, pulsing, aching…
”Laiko!”
He jumped when the voice finally registered in his head, and Laiko realised that the teacher was speaking to him.
“Yes, Miss?” He replied politely, standing to address the teacher.
“Won’t you tell us what Shakespeare meant by this quote?”
The teacher pointed to the quote on the board, and Laiko began rattling off the meaning as though he had taken it word for word from a textbook – though all the while, he sounded as cheerful as ever. It was just as well, really, that the teacher had interrupted his thoughts. He tended to be happy most of the time, and he liked most things…
But hospitals upset him greatly. Even more than waking up early – and that was saying a lot.

(Aww. But thirty more minutes... my darling Polo?)

Ria looked up just in time to catch the teacher's question and she flipped the paper over, writing down the quote in her very script like handwriting at the top of the page. Then, she converted what Laiko was saying into what it meant for her. But, when the teacher realized that, she was then asked to explain what it meant. She bit her lip, standing a bit uncertainly before explaining it how she saw it. Immediately, most of the class understood the quote and the teacher said. "Good job, Ria. Seems we have a good new student here." she murmered before heading back up towards the front of the class. Ria shook her head before copying the writing she had done onto a seperate page and erasing her loopy writing from the back of her sketch. Once the back of the page was white again she began to block out the beginnings of a pegasus flying ontop of a forest fire.

"It makes more sense the way you explain it." Laiko commented with a chuckle, sitting back down in his seat and smiling slightly at Ria. As the teacher had said, she seemed bright. Laiko was glad - it would be nice to have somebody intelligent to talk to. He had Kevin, but Kevin was not really the 'talking' type - and as for Mike, if Laiko used any word longer than about 6 letters, Mike was certain to stop listening. He smiled vaguely at the thought - tapping his pen thoughtfully against his desk.

Ria nodded her head and managed a tiny smile. "Thanks..." she murmered, looking at him before going back to her drawing. She had already gone over Shakespeare in her homeschooling, so it was really no wonder that she was the only one that really got it. Again, her mind slipped back into her drawing, allowing her wrist to flick against the paper bringing each little detail back to life.

(Time skipping now to afterschool.)

Ria slipped out of the school quietly. The last class had been the only class that his schedule couldn't work with considering how it was Advanced Art III something even a sophmore shouldn't be in. All of her class was seniors and as she sat in the corner on her own she saw that they couldn't help but glance back at here. Everytime one person did, the next did also. A few of their faces going into a stunned recognition. That was the girl from the news but two years before. The girl who had been kidnapped. Immediately, their stunned recognition turned into sympathetic and depressed faces. The news hadn't reported anything more than brutal treatment and the two month kidnapping, due to her parents wishes to keep the rape portion from the public. It was bad enough that her story had to be told to the world, but that was something Ria couldn't deal with. Not the fact that everyone in the world would know her past without her consent and that some people might use it against her. Shuddering quitely at the thought her heels clacked against the concrete heading towards her car slightly absentminded.

Post  Polo trapped in an inkpot Mon May 02, 2011 10:33 am

When the school day ended, Laiko set off in search of Ria. He had not wanted to leave her – not in the slightest – but even Principal Hayden had been unwilling to let him transfer to her art class. And no wonder – art was the one subject he utterly failed at. He just didn’t have an artistic personality, no matter how hard he tried. The only aspect of art he could manage was making accurate sketches of objects right in front of him. Aside from that, his mind failed to grasp the concept. He was more academic, so the teachers said.
When he first exited the school building, Laiko could find Ria. This, of course, alarmed him greatly.
She was his responsibility! If anything had happened to her…

Meanwhile, Dean Kingsley – a young man by age, but a boy by nature – watched Ria’s progress from inside his car. His slit-like brown eyes tracked her greedily, and there was a faint sneer on his lip as he watched her.
She was pretty… Very pretty.
He glanced down, fingering the tattered piece of card that he held in his hand. As he raised it to his face, the light struck the photograph, and Ria’s pretty eyes stared back at him. He wondered what they would look like when glistening with tears…

As Ria came gradually nearer, Dean slipped the photo into his pocket, then got out of his car and jogged over to meet her.
“Hey.” He greeted her with a friendly smile. “My name’s Dean Kingsley – I’m with the ETU.” He took out his wallet, flipping it open to find his ETU identity card, and showing it to Ria. “I’m supposed to escort you home.” He explained, a gentle, kindly smile on his fox-like face.
