Description:
From the day she was born, she shone like a summer’s sun. Her dark palomino coat soon turned to a medium palomino color. Her mother was a beautiful grey named Alexis and her father named Cyclone had a dark black pelt.

Summer was elegant she had big strides and covered ground quickly. Her star that forever would show on her forehead was always pure white along with her mane and tail that flowed in the wind. Her tail tickled the ground and her mane touched her knees. She had little white socks on the bottom of her legs. Then her scars that were on her shoulder. They were claws from a mountain lion that attacked her.

I sat in the tavern my feet upon the wooden table. Still in shadow spare the glass of water brightly shining in the light from the torch before i grasped it with my russet paw [hand] and brought it into the shadows and finished it. My spurs digging into the soft wood, which didnt matter, many spurs made their marks. Mine were just an addition to the collection

I put my hand out grasping for the tavern door, it opened with the door squeaking loudly. My dress tickled the floor and started to glow in the bright candlelight of the tavern. My eyes started to sparkle under the candlelight and I stood by the fire waiting for my father.

I looked on from the shadows at the girl who walked in. I twirled the last centimeter or so of water in the bottom of the glass at my side. My face half lit now by a torch that a body was previously blocking

I looked over slightly to see that there was somebody looking at me. I rolled my eyes, but, then I looked at his face and knew who it was, Jake. Father told me to stay clear of him, but, then again Father isn't here. I snickered. I started to walk over to him hoping maybe to try to talk.

A soft smile grew on my face letting my white teeth sparkle in the light on the half of my face, Out of courtesy i removed my feet from the table and removed my hat revealing the shaggy hair beneath it

I grinned back at him. He didn't seem like everybody says. He seemed sweet and charming.
Next to him I smiled again and said softly "Hi, may I sit here?" My eyes sparkled even more and chaged from a dark green to a blue and I pushed the brown curls off of my faceand behind me.

"Who am i to tell you not to?" I smiled motioning for her to sit. "You must be the keeper's daughter?" I asked

I giggled then looked down. "Very true." I looked back up again looking at him, "Yes, unfourtunetley" I gave a sigh of sadness then grinned again when I saw his face.

"You dont sound too happy about that" I said putting my hat on the table and looking back into her eyes

"I'm not. I hate it. Especially since I'm the only child. I'm not really allowed to do things because it might "ruin Father's business"
I muttered angrily to myself about it and looked back into Jake's eyes.

"Better off than I" I smiled leaning back slightly, "I mean as far as my father goes. And my Reputation"

"How so?" I asked half smiling.

"Well, when people see me they see my father." I muttered,

I thought for a seocond and remebered, "Your father is the Highwayman correct? Why do they always think of your father when they see you, your not him..." My voice trailed off in the squeaking of the tavern door. I let out a sigh of relief, it wasn't Father.

"Yes, he is actually my step father. but even that doesnt change their minds. I do everything i can to make them see that i am in no way shape or form like him" I said softly

I softly put my hand on his shoulder, "I'll tell you this, I don't think your like your step father at all." I whispered to him and grinned. The candlelight kept flickering on the other half of my fice and my eyes changed to a shade of grey.

"Thanks" I smiled and leaned forward to close the awkward space between us

I smiled and giggled, "No problem, anytime" I smiled sweetly. "I don't mean to be rude but I should go, I'll see you around?"

"I hope to see you soon" I smiled and kissed the back of her hand, I stood after she did, "If im still in town"

I looked back and gave him the biggest grin I could and looked at him sweetly.
"I will see you around again. Make sure you stay in town." I said softly back, then I turned around and walked up the stairs happily, hoping Father didn't see that. I came upon the door where I lived and sighed happily.

I looked up at her one last time and i couldnt help but smile up her way and i put my hat back on and walked out to Hidalgo outside waiting by the trough. I didnt bother to tie him up. I never felt the need. I trusted him enough to stay within hearing range

That night I tried to sleep, all I could think about Jake. I sighed. I muttered to myself, "I want to sleep" I always remebered what help me sleep, a ride on Summer. I sneakily got out of bed out of my room and down the tavern stairs with my candle flickering about. I silentley opened the tavern door hearing a faint sqeak and I walked up to Summer and gave her a quick pet.

I heard hurried footsteps and saw the girl i was talking with earlier and shook my head. Hopefully she wouldnt be out long. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was going to happen....or show up
