Rhys noticed her lagging behind and paused to stop, panting for breath because he had beeen talking non-stop for the past 15 minutes. He could really use a glass of water right now... Keep dreaming, Rhys, he thought to himself.
He turned to face Ria and saw her limping. Overcome with pity, he rushed over and immideatly placed his arm under her shoulders to help take some of the weight off her leg.
"We should probably rest..." He murmured, looking around before spotting a bench.

"Well, I think it makes up for your lack of talking." Rhys teased right back. "We really should put something heavier on that leg. It looks like it's starting to bleed again..." He trailed off as he set her down on the bench. Kneeling down in front of her, he pulled some guaze wraps out of her backpack and pressed them down on her calf. The strain from all the walking had made her blood pressure increase, thus resulting in more bleeding. He sighed as he held the bandage there, wondering what exactly she'd gone through that made her like this...

Rhys rolled his eyes. "Still, you need to talk. You have a pretty voice and I like hearing your opinions." He smiled at her encouragingly, then continued to work on her bandage. "And I wouldn't have fainted. This does need to be wrapped up though. Keep out infection and such."
He rolled his eyes and patted her knee gently before rising and sitting next to her, keeping a good 5 inches between them.

"Yes you do." Rhys insisted. "And infection could be spread by paticles in the air and... you're falling asleep on me." He said with a wry smirk. "C'mon, you can't fall asleep on a park bench. I'll take you home." He ruffled her hair and stood up, offering his hand again. Night had fallen, and the street lamps lit up Rhys with a soft glow and reflected off his shiny blonde head. His blue eyes sparkled with amusement as he waited.

"It's okay. Just fall asleep. Well, not before you give me directions." Rhys grinned and stumbled in the direction of his car, but ended up tripping and falling. It just wasn't going to work out with Ria only half-walking.
"Can I carry you?" He asked tentatively. "It's not really working out like this..." He trailed off hesitantly, not sure where her boundaries were.

Rhys rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't. I'm actually one of the only ones that don't You don't need to be scared of me."
She didn't, right? It wasn't like he was going to hurt her on purpose. But what if she had a flashback and saw him as a threat? What if something else cam eup and he fell and hurt her? And did she mean physically or emotionally? Probably both...
Rhys sighed and picked her up, cradling her to his chest to make it easier to walk. He picked up a steady jog as he moved towards his vehicle.

Rhys smiled down at her before focusing his attention on his car up ahead. He could see its sleek blue paintjob shining faintly in the streetlight and he smiled. He loved his car a lot. As he approached it, though, something felt wrong. He dropped down behind a bush and set Ria down. "Stay here, I'll be right back. Any chance I can have your knife?"
He looked up and saw the figure standing over his car, trying to crack a window.

((Imma go and take a quick shower... o.o))

"There's a guy breaking into my car. Stay down and shut up." Rhys said with a smirk. "He'll wish he never did."
He stood up and stealthily crept down the sidewalk toward his car. The thief was opened the window and was rummaging around inside, picking up various objects putting them back carefully so as snot to be detected. The figure was small and curvy; Rhys wondered what kind of person looking like that had any business breaking into a car. They looked like they belonged in a health magazine being the skinny, muscular form they were.
He was about five yards away when his foot stepped on a branch that snapped loudly. The thief spun around, observant eyes analyzing the situation before him. His face was covered with a bandana, but his eyes showed obvious fear when he spotted the knife. He tried running away, but Rhys easily caught the fleeing criminal.
Pinning the person on his back, he slowly removed his bandana. Her bandana, he automatically correected himself.
Wait! Her?!
Yes, it was definately a her. She smiled cruelly, bright green eyes flashing as her feminine lips curved upward into a smirk.
"Hello, Rhys." She whispered.
"Shaelynn?!" He yelped, completely taken aback.
Shaelynn was one of the 'popular' girls. She didn't even have to try to fit in there. Her long red hair flowed down her back in a cascade of perfect curls, and her feline-like green eyes were captivating to any male that looked at her. She strutted around with an air of superiority and seductiveness. Rhys always tried to avoid her, which wasn't too difficult. He hung around with anyone but Shaelynn's crowd.
"Call me Shae." She said with a saucy wink. "I think you deserve the right to call me that."
Rhys snorted angrily. "Tell me what the hell you were doing in my car!" He demanded.
Shae shrunk back a little, and he immideatly felt like apologizing. "Sorry." He muttered.
She sighed. "Seeing what exactly you had in there. Some of you..." she searched for the right term, knowing that calling him what she really thought of him - a freak, loser, nerd, geek, jerk - would only anger him and result in calling the police. "people have very interesting objects of interest." She continued, hinting that she knew what he had hidden behind the bush.

Rhys narrowed his eyes and Shelynn grinned triumphantly.
"I know you have the girl, and I know what you were planning on doing to her. Just like all the other ones."
He began to tremble in fear. Someone had finally figured out his dirty little secret. Well, someone was bound to eventually, but he'd hoped it was after he left high school. Or maybe after he left college... Heck, he hoped no one ever did!
But it seemed as though Shaelynn did. Rhys narrowed his eyes and stood up, keeping a foot on her arm. Her eyes widened.
"Don't even think about doing that to me!" She hissed.
"I won't," said Rhys, "and I won't tell about you and all your friends being the thieves that keep breaking into people's dorms and cars." He had completely guessed on this part - there had been articles all over the school newspaper about it - but he knew he was right as soon as her eyes widened.
"If you don't tell anyone my secret." Shae pursed her lips tightly, but nodded anyway.
"On one condition." She said with a grin.
"What?"
"I don't like that girl. Beat the crap out of her."
"I am not doing that to her!" Rhys exclaimed in anger. "I'm driving her home!"
He lifted his leg and stormed away to the bush where he left Ria.
"Ria, are you still here?" He asked gently.

Ria slowly pulled herself to her feet. "...and I know what you are planning on doing to her..." rang in her mind over and over again even though that girl was done talking. Only problem was, Rhys was back here now. Her body trembling horribly she nodded her head, whimpering slightly. Why had she given him the knife in the first place? "Just. Just. Dont hurt me...." she whimpered, backing up against a tree when she felt her leg trying to give out. There was no way she could make it to her car, not in this condition. What did he do to the otber ones that this thief had been talking about? And was it bad enough that he really would beat her to keep it hidden. She took in a shaky breath, her eyes wide with fear, feeling trapped again as she had during the kidnapping.

"Never planned on it." Rhys murmured, taken aback by her frightened state. She must have heard him talking to Shae about it...
Suddenly he was overcome with the sudden desire to fall to the ground and sleep. He was weary and tired, and just wanted tot go home and be surrounded by familiarity.
"I've done that before in the past," Rhys suddenly blurted out, "and I've tried to make up for it and move on. Only I can't." His eyes were wide, full of need for someone to understand him, eeven if they were deathly afraid of him.
"And that's part of the reason I'm helping you. I'm hoping it will help me get over what I did..." He trailed off and glanced up quickly. "Don't get me wrong, I really do want to help you, but..."

"I'm just saying I'm not doing all this for you." Rhys said. "I'm not that selfless." He added with a teasing smirk.
"C'mon, let's get you home." He let his hand reach out - for what seemed like the thousandth time that day. The street lamps reflected their light off his skin, showing the thin sheen of sweat that had developed on his arm.
He heard Shae quietly get up and dash away - after carefully making sure Rhys was absorbed in his little situation. He sighed and glanced over his shoulder wearily only to see her bright red ponytail disappear around a corner.
He turned back and lifted the corner of his mouth in a half attempt at a smile.
