Desire nodded, taking in the information. Her father'd known someone with the last name of Valentine, but it couldn't have been the same person. Maybe his daughter? She sighed irritablly and let the French girl answer.
"I am Kareena." She began. "That's Desire, and that's Donovan." She had a certain amount of affection in her voice when she said the boy's name. She winked at him saucily, but turned back to the girl stiffly.

I barley held back a laugh when Kareena practically claimed Donovan as hers.After a couple of seconds she got the humor under control and replied,"Well it's nice to meet you guys,I guess.Now since the introductions are over how about we get back to the fact that you guys are part of some anti-zombie army.Who even started the group?"I asked curiously.

Desire shrugged. "How should we know? We're only on the intermediate level. Which is pretty impressive since we joined only a couple months ago. I'm happy except I got paired with that whore." She laughed as she gestured to Kareena, who rolled her eyes with a sigh, twirling her perfect creamy blonde hair around her finger.

I smirked and said,"Don't blame you."to Desire."So are we going to stay here and wait for more zombies or...?"I asked and crossed my arms and stood in a defensive stance.

Desire rolled her eyes. "Don't be nice. That's just a weakness. If I got turned to a zombie and you actually liked me, you'd have a harder time taking me out." She sighed and glanced around before grabbing her gun and putting it back into her holster.

"Well that's you opinion."I said and waited for her to answer the other part of my question.

Desire shrugged. "It's true, though. I could shoot anyone here and not feel guilty. Well, except for maybe Don." She flashed wink at her older brother, who rolled his eyes, trying to hide the hurt. She brazened on, unaffected. "No, we leave and go back to our base." She nodded and proceeded to walk out the door, Kareena following.

"Okayyy."I said following them out,"But I'm taking my car."The rain had stopped and everything had a shiny glint to it and overhead was a rainbow.

Desire shook her head. "In case you haven't noticed, the sound attracts zombies. It's better to run. 'Sides, it's not that far. Only a couple miles." She grinned and jumped onto a nearby windowledge, swinging herself onto the roof. Kareena did the same, gracefully arching herself across the rooftops. Donovan rolled his eyes.

I looked at Donovan,"Wanna stick to the ground?"I asked.

Donovan shrugged. "The rooftops are probably safer, but I'm sure you're not all that experienced with them." He said quietly, his voice not too deep, nor too high-pitched. He sighed and glanced around. "Just gotta keep an eye out for any more unwanted visitors."

"Yeah,I never exactly made traveling by rooftops one of my ways of getting around."I said with a laugh."So what all will I learn at the base?"I asked as we started walking.

Donovan glanced around nervously, like he was expecting more zombies to appear at any instant. It was highly unlikely - most of the undead liked to groan like the rambling, demented monsters they were - but still possible. He shrugged. "Plenty of things." It was clear he didn't enjoy talking all that much. In fact, he spent so long without talking one time, Desire had to teach him some words again. 'Hello' was one of them.

"Like...?You don't have to be nervous around me if that's whats bothering you.I won't bite."I said,trying to get him to talk because the silence was a little to freaky at times.

Donovan shrugged. "I don't talk just to talk. I say what's necessary and nothing more." He sighed and quieted, as if to prove his point. He looked ahead and saw a bend in the street. Glancing up, he noticed Kareena and Desire watching the pair curiously. Desire was clearly laughing at Kareenaa's obvious jealousy. The French girl was practically green with envy.

"Fine then I'll do the talking,and you can just listen,because anymore the silence is out right freaky." I said,not noticing the girls above.I was about to say something when an unusual sound reached my ears.I stopped and looked around before looking at Donovan,"Do you hear that?"

Donovan cocked his head to the side after he stopped, listening intently. After a moment, he shook his head. No. He couldn't hear it.

I shrugged and started walking again til I heard the sound again."Okay,did you hear it that time?It's kind of like a low whiny/growly sound."I said and started looking around.

Donovan looked around again, sure that he couldn't hear anything at all. A cynical part of his mind thought she was playing a prank on him - or worse. Suddenly, he wished Desire and Kareena were with him. So he wouldn't have yo fight alone. He was almost certain he could take out this girl, but wasn't completely positive.
"No."

"Maybe,I'm hearing something then,"I said and started walking yet again.I glanced over at Donovan and saw the looks he was giving her,"I told you I'm not going to attack.I really thought I had heard something."I said starting to get a bit defensive.

And then he heard it. All thought vanished from his mind as drilled instinct took over. He pulled out a pistol and whirled around, aiming it toward the sound. A dog came from around the corner. It was a small dog - a Papillion, he could tell from the ears - and it was growling at them. Or something behind them. He spun and shot the bullet into the leg of a girl dressed in black that was sneaking up behind them with a knife.

I crossed my arms and looked at Donovan,"I'm usually not the type to say i told you so;but ya,I told you so."I said,then watched as the other girls backtracked towards them via rooftop.

The girl in black hissed and clutched her calf, but not before she sent a bullet flying at Donovan. He grunted as it struck him in the calf - probably the same place it hit the girl - and fell to the ground.

"Dammit." I hissed and pulled my gun out."You'd better not move,bitch."I said threateningly then went and kicked the gun away from her."You guys check him,I got her."I said when Desire and Kareena arrived.

The girl swore and glared at Ray when she approached. Angrily she retorted, "Leave me alone." And began to stand up. Blood began to run in a generous stream from her leg and she winced. Tearing off some of her shirt, she wrapped her leg, leaving herself with a garment that fell to her ribs.
