Alpha-Pie and I!

He was quiet for a moment, and finally he sighed. "He has a crush on you" He mumbled finally about ready to come out and say what he feels.

I smiled a little. "Well you know what? I would never go out with that jerk, even in a million years, even if he was the last person on earth."

A small smile worked its way through, "That's good to know. And another thing..I get jealous of him" He said quietly and averted his eyes from her.

"Don't be. He's got nothing on you." I looked up at him, and slipped my hand through his. "Don't pay any attention to him."

He felt his heart jump and the heat rush to his face at the touch of her hand. "Okay," He whispered and looked up at her with a soft smile

I smiled back, before averting my eyes and taking my hand away, feeling like a fool. "I better get going. Dad needs me to take the horses out before it gets dark." I found my keys and hurriedly got into my car.

"Alright, see you tomorrow" He said softly and watched her leave before getting to his Mustang Cobra GT and driving home to face his next opponent...his dad.

As I drove home my mind wandered back to the events at school. I was annoyed at myself. Why had I held his hand? I liked him but...I sighed. Did I like him? Of course I did...
Before I knew it I was home, and I pulled up in my driveway in front of our house.
Getting out and locking my car, I walked inside and changed into my riding gear, jodhpurs, boots, grabbing my helmet as I walked out the door. "See you later!" I called through the house, walking down the lane through some trees to the stables, which was situated in amongst a wood.

Gary drove home and to his surprise, the house was empty. He sighed in relief and pulled into the garage. When he got in the house he let his dog, Alazar outside to do his business in the safety of the backyard that was fenced in.

I tacked up Montague (Monty for short) and lead him out to the woods, before mounting up and heading through the trees at a swift trot. The air was cool and clear, and birds were singing in the trees. But other things were on my mind...Today's events still stuck clear in my mind as I headed down the well used woodland path.

"Alazar! Come on boy!"He called out to the yard and his striking black and white husky barreled towards him and came inside. "Its bathtime stinker" he smiled and led him to the bathtub. Willingly he got in but now it was all games for him. As he put water in the tub, Alazar tried to catch the water as it fell snapping at the stream of water.

I spurred Monty onwards, the trees flashing past in a blind fury of wind and branches as Monty passed into a gallop. The gentle rhythmic thuds of hoof beats on dirt was all I could hear as I thundered through the forest. So much was going through my head that I still wasn't concentrating...And suddenly Monty spooked. A large black shape flew across the path inches from his hooves, and he skidded to a halt, rearing in fear, dirt scattering everywhere. My feet left the stirrups as he reared to his full height, and I lost grip of the reins, falling on my back behind him with a dull thud. My head hit a large rock, but luckily my helmet prevented any injury. Before I could recover, Monty bolted, disappearing into a flurry of dust as he galloped away, leaving me lying on the ground.

Being around all this water, his powers started up. Not only did he make the water the perfect temperature for Alazar but he felt a sudden disturbance nearby in the earth. He could just feel it, he heard the thuds of a horse running through the woods, then a sudden stop. Then the Clack! of a helmet on a rock. Someone had fallen. After he let Alazar dry off on his own in the bathroom like the way he liked it he went outside. Honing in on his skills, he tried to find where the disturbance came from. He began to follow it.

I lay on the ground for a few more seconds, before I got to my feet, brushing off the dirt off of my back. Luckily I hadn't hurt myself too badly, maybe a few bruises but I was generally okay. Monty on the other hand..."Monty?" I called through the forest. "Monty!" After a few moments of listening, it suddenly occurred to me that everything was silent. No birds...I climbed on top of a tree stump to see over the ferns, because there was something there, I knew it. That black figure that had spooked him, it had been too big to be a fox or a rabbit...It was larger....Much larger.

He heard her voice and picked up a jog but before he knew it he was met by a horse with no rider. "Whoa easy boy" He said as the equine was panicking and caught in vines. He had a soothing voice and with a wave of his hand the vines untangled themselves from his legs and set him free. "Come on boy." He said then recognized him. "Monty? Wheres Alex?" He asked now panicking slightly, now he knew who fell. He climbed up on his back and let Monty and the Earth lead the way to her. "Alex!" he called out.

I jumped as I heard my name being called by someone. Making my way back to the path, I noticed Monty cantering back to me, with Gary on his back. "Gary!" I ran up to them and patted Monty gently. "Something spooked him, he threw me off."

Gary climbed down and ran over to her. "Are you hurt? Are you okay?" He asked quickly holding her face checking for any sign of injury. "I was just takin a walk and found him in the vines." He said softly letting her go and took Monty's reins to keep him from spooking again.

I smiled. "I'm fine, I'm fine. I'm just more concerned about what spooked him." I said truthfully, resting one hand on Monty's neck. "It was huge, Gary, you should have seen it!"

He looked out to the darkened woods. "Come on, i'll take you home before it comes back." He said and up on Monty before helping her up. "He's fine now, we'll just have to walk back" He said and brought him up to a walk towards his house and to the back pasture where he used to have his horse at.

I sat on Monty with him and bit my lip. "But..." I stared, but decided to leave it. It was probably gone now anyway..."Thanks for getting him back. I don't know what I'd have done if he got hurt." I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder.

He looked over and smiled. "Well i wouldnt know what to do if you got hurt" He said with a light chuckle. "Im glad I was out when I was" He added and helped her down off Monty. "I was thinking about getting a horse again." He thought aloud as they walked into the big empty barn to untack him.

I hopped off Monty and took off his saddle and bridle, slinging them over a low stable door. "Well you know me. I'll probably yell em' down before they can get close to me." I laughed. "You should get a horse. It's good exercise, and it clears your head." I laughed again. "Which is ironic. I hit my head on a low branch out riding when I was seven. Spent 2 weeks in bed with a migrane."

"I remember that" He chuckled and let Monty go in the field and he began to look for a spot to graze under the stars. "Come on inside, you can call your house if you want, or you can stay over. I dont have anything going on other than--ALAZAR!" He was interrupted by seeing what was his big clean dog now rolling in a puddle of mud after his bath. "Okay well my plans changed...you need another bath" He said with a laugh.

I laughed, running over to him and dragging him out of the puddle by his collar. Once he was out, he shook his coat vigorously, and I jumped back as mud splattered everywhere. I gasped as mud splattered my shirt, jodhpurs and face, and once he was done he trotted back to Gary, completely unaware of the messiness he had caused. I looked at Gary, a smile plastered to my face among flecks of mud.

Gary shielded himself from the flying mud and saw that she got all muddy too. "Hmm" HE said with a sly smile and cocked an eyebrow with a mischievous grin and with that he playfully tackled her into the mud puddle and the mud caked all over them laughing.
