I raised my eyebrows.
"Don't inquire? That is near imposs-Ow!" I said, tripping over the fallen log, which caused me to slam my head into the overhanging branch. I pulled myself off the ground, rolling my eyes at my being a complete klutz, then arose and continued, laughing quietly.

Acheron chuckled quietly at Aiyonna's clumsyness, before deciding to carry her the rest of the way. He bent and picked her up, bridal-style, continuing down the path.
"If I left you be, love, we would take hours to get there," he teased.

"True, true. Hey, at least I'm not in stilettos," I said teasingly.

"Ah, that would be much worse," he said, setting her down as they arrived. They were in a clearing, a river running through it.
"Happy birthday," he said.

I looked around as he set me on my feet, taking in everything.
"Wow... How did you find this?" I asked, wide eyed, as I still looked around.

"I was wandering," Acheron replied, daring not to step inside the clearing, "resulting in the discovery of this area. It's yours," he said, gesturing to it, "Yours and yours alone. A haven, of sorts. Should you so grant me the pleasure of joining you here, I would accept, but narry should I carry on to visit this area. Only with your permission shall I enter," he finished.

I rolled my eyes sarcastically at his lecture using outdated vocabulary; something we both shared in common, though I dropped the habit more often than he.
"You know I'm going to say that it's fine, that you can come here anytime you want," I teased, taking his hand and dragging him inside with me.

Acheron followed after, seating himself on the soft grass.
"Happy birthday, love," he said.

I sat opposite of him, crossing my legs.
"Je vous remercie," I said, sincerely, and quietly.

"Vous êtes tout à fait bienvenue," he replied, reaching for her hand. He stroked the back of it with his thumb gently.

I flinched involuntarily as he touched me... again. It wasn't until today... or tomorrow... that I realized how much he liked to carress me and such.

Acheron dropped her hand instantly.
"Are you sure that you're all right?" he pressed. There was something definitely wrong with her; she had been acting strange all ay long.

My eyes widened a bit as I glanced away.
"Memories... of the near future..."

Acheron reached out and gently placed his fingers underneath Aiyonna's chin, pulling her face toward him. Memories... of the near future? How was that possible?
"What are you talking about?"
