Taken aback, Tyson dropped his aggressive stance and blinked in surprise.
It was strange... He could have sworn the man had looked at Violet when he said that... But she was the reason he was here, right?
Tyson frowned in confusion.

"I'm here because my friend had an operation" Violet explained, confused aswell.

"That friend, is my son" He answered simply.

Tyson gave a bitter laugh at this statement - clearly not believing a word that left the man's lips. He made as though to reach for his pen, then jerked his hand up at the last moment, flicking up his middle finger to pull an obscene gesture. With his opinion clearly stated, Ty was content. He flopped back in his bed seeming completely satisfied with himself, arms folded stubbornly.

"That's nice, kid." He sighed heavily. "Vi, get lost" He spoke simply.

"Nope" She spoke stubbornly.

Although he did not appreciate being called a kid, Tyson did accept that he had acted immaturely, so he offered no complaints. This man was a fraud and a liar! Ty didn't care how childish he appeared - he wouldn't just sit back and let this sack of filth befoul his father's honourable name.

Looking the man directly in the eye with a harsh glare, Ty pointed toward the door.

"No" He spoke simply. "Look up your birth certificate, Tyson, i'm your named dad" He sighed eventually.

With angrily clenched teeth, Tyson grabbed his pen and wrote viciously, nearly tearing the page.

I remember my father. He was a good, honourable man who would never hurt anybody. You are not my father, now get out.

With that, he folded his arms stubbornly once more and sat back, glaring at the man.
It wasn't true.
It couldn't be true.
He had loved his father... Practically worshipped him! For he had been so flawless, he was God-like.
This man could pass for Satan himself.
There was no similarity, none at all.

"Really? I'm not your dad? Does the name Mitchell Crena mean anything?" He spoke abscentmindedly.

Ty's mouth dropped open, and he stared at the man in disbelief. This... This was his father. He could see it now, that familiar face. He recognised him... But-

What happened to you?

Ty wrote quickly, staring disbelievingly up at his father.

You were a good man. I practically worshipped you, which is why I spent all these years searching for you! No, I don't even know who you are...

Ty bit his lip, and looked away in disgust. The more he knew it to be true, the less he wanted to believe it.

"Thats a bit tough, isn't it? Violet, schooch and go see your dad. He's in this joint somewhere" Mitchell shrugged, his cigarette stained fingers dismissing her quickly. He did not smile, but looked somewhat smug. Violet watched his blood-stained knuckles, narrowing her eyes. "He came over today, didn't he?" She spoke, standing, her chin lifting as she watched Mitchell. All he did was smile that humourless smile, sitting down lazily.

Ty stared at the man, icy hatred slowly pulsing through his veins. His father had been a good man... A great man... This- This thing was merely an impostor abusing his late father's great image.
A snarl twisted Tyson's face - the cruel expression unexpectedly complimenting his sharp features.
He kicked his legs over the side of the bed, and was on his feet in an instant - ignoring the mind boggling pain that was his body's way of objecting to his actions.

He turned slowly, and stared at his father with cold indifference, then spoke two simple words - his first in years.

"F*ck you."

His voice was hoarse from lack of use, yet it was still clear that beneath the icy disappointment he filled it with - his voice was something incredible. It had a soft, melodious quality - with a sharp edge of determination. In fact, it had always been one of his most charming points - at least until he had forsaken it.
But there was no charm in it now. None at all.

Tyson left his cruel, blunt words hanging in the air, and stormed out of the room, despite his injuries - acting uncharacteristically rash and impulsive in light of his absolute fury.

"Im your father, Tyson, deal with it" Mitchell called after him. Violet had gone after him as soon as the words had left his mouth, jogging quickly to catch up. "Hey" She spoke, almost breathless.

Ty ignored Mitchell's words, and quickened his pace slightly, desperate to get away. When Violet caught up to him and fell into step beside him with a breathless word of greeting, Tyson merely nodded curtly in reply. He did not mean to act so coldly toward her, but he really couldn't help it... For no matter how much he told himself he didn't care, Tyson knew that this bothered him greatly.

Everything he had ever lived for...
A lie?
Or had it never existed in the start...?

Violet sighed softly. "Ok" She spoke on a gently sigh, before heading to see her real father. She rarely saw him these days, due to Mitchell's merciless violence towards him.

Ty turned and watched Violet leave - fury with himself building with each step she took away from him.
Great! Now he had chased her away, too? Was he completely useless?
He huffed a frustrated sigh, and stalked over to the nearest window, sticking his head out of it into the cold air outside, and staring down to the ground four storeys below.
It was high.
Very high...
A sharp breeze sung through the open window, whipping the leather tie from Tyson's dark hair and releasing it into a thick, glossy curtain that swung wildly in the breeze.
This time, he made no move to tame it. He relished the release...

Violet sighed heavily, going to his room. Fresh tears prickling her ears as it was empty, the nurse looking dull. No...he couldn't be.....her mother's gentle, crying frame in the room made it obvious. That..monster...had killed her dad. Her hand moved to her pocket, feeling the knife. An idea reached her mind, and she headed back to Mitchell...This time, it was revenge...

Ty stared out of the window a while longer, watching the people go about their everyday lives as though everything was normal. As though the world hadn't just fallen apart... How could they be so ignorant?!
He turned away with a frustrated sigh, and his first thought was of Violet. This wasn't her fault... He had to apologise.

Much as that would dent his pride... Ty ran his fingers through his hair and sighed resignedly. He left his hair loose, and the icy wind flapped it about his high cheekbones as he turned his back on the window and walked away - back the way he had come. Back for Violet.

A few minutes of searching later, he found her - only he did not like what he saw. Her eyes glistened with tears, and it did not take a genius to work out that something was terribly wrong.

Frowning in concern, Ty entered the room and stepped hesitantly toward her, finally coming to a standstill beside her and wordlessly wrapping an arm around her shoulders. He gave her a gentle squeeze, and dropped his eyes to the ground.

"H-He k-killed him" Violet stuttered, the tears she'd held at bay sliding down her cheeks. Putting an arm around him, gently resting her head in his shoulder.

No explanation was needed, for Ty understood what had happened the second Violet's words had left her lips. He pushed all thoughts of vengeance and anger aside, focusing instead on what mattered most: Comforting Violet. The rest could, and would, come later. He would make sure of it...

Brushing aside his thoughts, Ty slipped both arms around Violet and pulled her gently into a comforting embrace, rubbing her back in long, soothing strokes. "I'm sorry." He whispered quietly, his hoarse voice barely audible in the silence.

Her tears fell silently - Atleast she cried with dignity. She held onto him, not bothered about anything but him right now. He felt safe, consistent...Someone she knew didn't hide anything.

Ty stood still, his eyes downcast, and allowed Violet to cling to him. Just this once, he didn't mind. He needed the comfort as much as she did, anyway... Of course, there had to be a selfish motive in everything he did. Tyson was simply like that...
He stood there a while, rhythmically stroking Violet's back, until the emotional onslaught gradually began to wear off, and Ty become aware of something else... The fact that he had stormed out of his room when he had so obviously not yet recovered. He frowned slightly as an unpleasant sensation of weakness coursed through him, and he felt tension creeping into his muscles as he struggled to hide it from Violet. He didn't think his pride could handle him collapsing on the floor at that moment... So he clenched his teeth, and convinced himself that the pain was all in his head. He knew he should rest. He knew it well... Yet he simply didn't want to let Violet go.

"You ok?" She asked softly. Only a gentle hint of sadness in her voice - She hid everything well. She was unselfish like that - Her father had just died, and she asked someone else if they were ok. The thought made her smile weakly.

Ty nodded, then pulled back - feeling slightly awkward, not to mention weak and dizzy. He gnawed on his lip, his eyes on the ground, and shuffled his feet slightly - then turned his head and stared over his shoulder, contemplating the possibility of somebody coming in to drag him back to his room. He didn't want to go...
With a faint shudder, Tyson turned back to Violet, watching her for a moment - then holding out his hand, his earnest expression offering to go with her... Out of the hospital and far away. To anywhere, any place, any time. Just far away from here.
