Ready to start? Wink

My character(s).

Name: Tyson Retisant (Say: Tie-Sin Ret-EE-Saunt) ((Ty))

Age: 17 years

Appearance: Tyson has long, straight black hair with he keeps tied in a braid down his back, stretching almost to his shoulder blades. His face is casually framed by shorter, loose strands, falling in layers from just above his eyebrows to below his chin. He has a stocky build, and is slightly shorter than most boys his age. He has high, proud cheekbones and a naturally richly tanned complexion. His eyes, though seldom seen, are a bright, fiery shade of brown - seeming almost red when the sun strikes them. He generally stands with a somewhat aloof and disinterested stance, often making himself appear unapproachable. He usually walks with his hands in his pockets, partially because he likes it that way, and partially for the practical purpose of having quicker access to the pen and notepad he keeps there.

Personlity: To be RPed

Other: 1 Sibling: Lizzie

Name: Elizabeth Retisant ((Lizzie))

Age: 18 years

Appearance: Very pretty light boned and slender girl. She is a natural redhead with a fair complexion and alluring pale blue eyes.

Personality: Cheerful, spontaneous, outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, talkative, judgemental.

[yay purple skies!]

Coraline Mastison(Cora or Matty-C by her good friends)

16 years

A fair haired beauty with streaks of dark brown mixed with the blonde, and pale green eyes. She has a fair complexion, but naturally pink cheeks. Her frame is dainty, nearly fragile looking, but looks can be deceiving. She's skilled at many thongs, but there only a handful of thongs she wants to keep doing for her whole life. She's very impulsive, often times not thinking before acting. She's bubbly and fun to be around, but she can have a dark side. However, most people don't see this. She's never cried in front of anyone other than her family, and her dog. She normally wears jeans with a t-shirt and her hair is either left curlyor pulled back into a fishtail braid. She nearly always has her guitar with her(in it's case), and she always wears a guitar-pick necklace in case she needs a pick.

(yepperdoodles!)

Cora stood on the corner of a street, her arms crossed as she stared idly at the sky. She narrowed her eyes, squinting at the clouds. She finally turned and started walking, deep in thought. She paid no mind to where she was going, only her thoughts were important to her. She wrapped her coat tightly around herself, speeding up a bit. She didn't care about the weather, she always wore her coat. She wished she had her guitar case grasped in her hand. It always comforted her. She finally reached another stop. Glancing up, her pale eyes looked almost white in the sunlight. Cora looked at her wrist, which her sleeve had exposed. There was a tattoo on there of small angel wings and the letters "A.M" In Scriptina font. She felt tears fill her eyes, but she quickly blinked them back. The walking light flashed on and she dashed across, still holding herself.

Ty followed some distance behind Lizzie. Not quite walking with her, but simply heading to the same destination. He hung back in an aloof fashion, shoulders held high so his upturned collar reached his ears. His hands were thrust into the pockets of his neat, yet tattered denim jacket, and it was there that they would stay, unless there was something unexpected that he needed to do - which most of the time, there wasn't.
His slightly bony frame and ragged clothing gave the distinct impression of what he was: A street kid. Yet unlike the others, Ty kept himself well groomed, neat and clean by any means possible. It was simply his way. His glossy black hair hug in an immaculate loose braid that just reached the top of his shoulder blades - the shorter, loose strands framing his sharp, handsome features as the winds swept them gently back and forth. His expression was dull, disinterested and bored. He didn't really seem to care about anything, and simply traipsed on in his usual stride, carrying himself with pride and dignity despite the faint hunch to his shoulders. He seemed to blend in with the crowds on the sidewalk, and this was no accident. Most of the time, people walking past would look right through him - not even seeing him at all. This was because Ty had all but mastered the art of making himself appear inconspicuous. He simply went with the flow and made himself part of the scenery. It as all about attitude, and mindset. If a person truly convinced themselves that they were invisible, then they probably would not be seen. Ty understood this.
He had been well educated once, after all.
Not that it mattered now.
Not that he cared...

Presently, Ty became aware of a commotion ahead of him, and he stopped walking and turned to stare along with the rest of the crowd; not because he was interested, but because it was the right thing to do, if he was to remain unnoticed. As expected, Lizzie was at the source of the commotion. She had been walking too fast, not paying attention as usual, and had inevitably ended up crashing into somebody - knocking a girl who appeared t be about his own age to the ground. Ty noted that she looked mildly upset... But somehow, he doubted that had anything to do with the collision.
She was pretty... Very pretty, not that he cared, - with that similar fair charm to Lizzie, a princess-like daintiness that most guys would kill for, quite literally. He had seen the fights break out over Lizzie a dozen times, and they always ended the same way. The street kids were like animals, feral and savage. It was survival of the fittest at its cruelest and most twisted... For in this world, the fittest were not the smartest or the strongest, but simply the ones with the biggest gangs and the biggest guns.
But that was not the point.
Ty's red-brown gaze swept briefly over the pair. The girl on the ground, and Lizzie apologising profusely with that sickening false remorse in her voice, and stooping beside her unfortunate victim to see if she was okay. Lizzie was a talented actress. With her cheerful smile, kind eyes and enchanting voice, nobody suspected her of malicious intent when she spoke to them. Ty, on the other hand, had known her long enough to see that her intentions were not always innocent. It was not because Lizzie was cruel, or evil. It was simply because, somehow, they had to get by. One could seldom survive on the streets and keep to their scruples at the same time. Even Ty was struggling...
With a soft sigh, Ty left the safety of his crowd and walked toward them, coming to a standstill beside Lizzie. With his expression unchanging, he took his right hand out of his pocket and held it out toward the girl, silently offering to help her up.
Meanwhile, Lizzie chattered in the background - going on about goodness-knows-what, apologising and making excuses. But Tyson was not interested in listening, and he blocked her out.

Cora continued running, until something rammed into her. She fell to the ground with an oof. Looking up above her, she listened to the girls relentless ramblings.
"Im fine." She said cheerily starting to stand. She then saw a boy walking towards them. Immediately she stopped and watched him curiously. Her eyes were rimmed with red, and her face was blotchy with hair plastered to it from her tears. She narrowed her eyes slightly, unsure. He was handsome, but the manner in which he walked was most odd. His gait was nonchalant and his hands were in his pockets. When he reached one out to her she took it and got up, still watchig him.
She brushed some hair off her face and nodded to him.
"Thank you." She said, before turning to the girl.
"Its fine, really." The girl seemed nice enough, but she didn't let her guard down.
"Ah, I'm Cora." She mumbled, unsure. She didn't know if she should tell them her name, or not. She could tell where they were from, which was so different from her life. She wasn't sure if it would be possible to even remotely relate to them. She shuffled nervously, and the crowd lost interest in their collision. They now just moved around them, like they were a rock in the middle of the creek, creating an unnecessary ripple. She watched the boy, even though she was speaking to the both of them. She glanced over at the girl for a moment. She had fiery red hair in contrast to the boys dark hair. It seemed odd, but they appeared to have known eachother for a while. Possibly they were siblings. She wouldn't pry to much, but she was a naturally observant person. The girl was light boned, probably quick on her feet. The boy sort of mulled along, but he seemed...stronger, in a sense. She narrowed her eyes again, thinking.

[sorry, this is mostly just my ramblings xD]

"Thank goodness!" Lizzie exclaimed with a laugh. "Me and my clumsiness..." She shook her head, tutting to herself, then responded to the girl's introduction. "It's good to meet ya, Cora. I'm Lizzie, n' this is my brother, Ty." She jerked a thumb to indicate Tyson, who stood aloofly beside her, staring into the distance with distinct nonchalance.
He threw Lizzie a glance, however, when she introduced him, and she frowned slightly before correcting herself. "Oh fine then, my brother Tyson. But you can call him Ty, honestly, it ain't like he's goin' ta complain anyways." She gave a girlish giggle and clapped Tyson playfully on the shoulder. He did not respond, but merely tolerated Lizzie's improper behaviour and waited patiently for it to stop. She ought to know better by now - he did not like being teased.
And only his friends could call him Ty, which meant that his name was now permanently what it had been when he was born: Tyson.
Finding himself bored of staring, Ty turned back to the girl - Cora - and observed her silently. She seemed a pleasant sort. More cheerful than he'd originally thought, unless it was fake. He didn't really approve of fake emotions - better to have none at all, or so he thought, which was obviously demonstrated by his demeanour.
Tyson nodded a brief greeting to Cora, before deciding that the conversation was over. He promptly turned away, and began walking off down the street.

"Oops, the Grinch is on the move!" Lizzie said brightly, a bubbly laugh escaping her lips. "I'd better make sure he don't get lost or beat up." She winked, then headed off after Ty with a wave of her hand, calling over her shoulder, "See ya 'round, Cora!"

A minute or so later, Lizzie caught up with Ty. He watched her suspiciously from the corner of his eye. She ignored him with firm determination, but under Ty's intent gaze, she could not help but feel nervous, and colour slowly began creeping into her cheeks.
This was the sign Ty had been waiting for, and he lunged suddenly at her. She gave a furious yell of surprise, but was not quick enough to deflect his fingers.
He whipped the wallet from her pocket and held it up, swinging it back and forth with his eyebrows raised.
"I do what I gotta do so we don't starve, Tyson!" Lizzie snapped harshly, trying to grab the wallet back from him.
Ty shook his head in cold disappointment, then turned on his heel and jogged back toward Cora. He skidded to a stop as he reached her, and slapped the wallet into her hand.

She smiled at the girl, then glanced back over at the boy. Ty...son She said over in her head. The girl was Lizzie. Lizzie and Tyson She didn't feel it necessary to say anything about his name. He didn't really talk to her, so what was the point of talking to him? She narrowed her eyes at the ground again, mulling this over. Why didn't he talk? Was there something important in his pockets? Were they actual siblings? They didn't look like it. She had so many questions, but she didn't dare ask a single one.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you." She noted the girls crude grammar, which to her was like nails on a chalk board, but out of pure politeness she just put on her signature smile and nodded. She noticed the boy...Tyson looking at her. She shuffled uncomfortably under his gaze. Then he just turned and walked away.

"Well bye then." She muttered, watching them leave. She put her hood up and started walking. Then Tyson came back, slapping her wallet in her hand. She stared at him in disbelief.
"Uh...thank you." She didn't understand. Had she dropped it? She hadn't thought so. Maybe...no. She didn't think they would have taken it. She furrowed her eyebrows together.

Ty shrugged off the girl’s thanks, leaning back on his heels and hovering around awkwardly. He couldn’t quite decide if he should just walk away, or if he was required to stay… He couldn’t see a reason to, so eventually Ty decided that he must be dismissed.
He nodded briefly to the girl, feeling a faint spark of pride at the thought that he had got the wallet back to her. Lizzie was good at what she did. Oh yes, nobody could deny that… But Ty was somewhat ashamed of his sister’s unscrupulous methods. To steal was one thing – to put on a falsely friendly face and steal through undeserved trust was another entirely.

She was right in saying that they had to get by… But at what cost? Trying to throw others into the same situation they were in, with no money and no choice but to steal?
No, there were limits. That was the way Ty saw it…
Ty shrugged off his thought, then stuffed his hands back into his pockets and turned away, strolling comfortably along with the crowd, soon blending in with the crowd.

She studied him carefully, trying to see through his aloof facade. However, it appeared the she couldn't. Cora narrowed her eyes, mulling this over. Why did he act like this? There must be some emotions in his heart. But where were they? She sighed, deep in thought. She began mouthing words to herself, completely forgetting he was there. Finally she looked up, but he was gone. "Whered he go?" She said aloud, searching the crowd. But he was gone. She decided to start walking in the direction she assumed he had taken. Cora searched the crowd, but she couldn't find him. Well, he was probably someone who preferred to blend into the crowd, rather stand out. She maneuvered skillfully through the mass of people, still searching.

She finallystopped and pulled her hood up, a wave of sadness taking over. She closed her eyes and hugged herself. Although she was in a crowd, she had never felt more alone. Cora opened her eyes and stood there for a moment, staring off into space. Why her? It made no sense. She never did anything horrible. Sure, Cora had never been perfect. No one was, but she didn't drink. She never smoked. She didn't do drugs. So why her? She didn't deserve to be left alone. Now she had no one.

Ty had been waking only a short while longer, when through the sea of faces before him, he picked out some familiar ones. Some faces he’d have been keen never to see again.
For there, walking toward him as if they owned the world, were Stix – the gang leader – and a couple of his favourite cronies. Ty had tried terribly hard not to stand out in that gang, but Stix had noticed him right away. He had felt intimidated, because Ty was different – and difficult to read. As with al powerful people, Stix feared what he could not understand. And as with all ‘tough guys’ he had no problem with ‘accidentally’ destroying what he feared. This was why Tyson had made it a regular habit to avoid Stix whenever possible.

Right now, he could tell, Stix was on the hunt for a victim. Perhaps he’d mug some snotty rich kid – maybe he’d kick a homeless guy around… Whatever tickled his fancy. Recently, however, Stix’s targets had mostly been girls. Not young girls, but not women. Teenagers – usually around his own age. Not quite old enough to fight back… Just old enough to understand. Tyson didn’t know what Stix did with these girls, but he supposed he probably would not want to know in any case. It had nothing to do with him… Therefore he was not obliged to care.

Shaking off his thoughts, Ty turned briskly on his heel and headed the other way. He hitched his collar up a little, letting his dark braid slide down his back inside the denim jacket – making him less recognizable. He strolled along in his usual casual gait, blending effortlessly, and after a short while of walking he came across that girl from before – Cora, she’d said her name was – standing like a lone iceberg in the flow of passers-by surrounding her.
As he was nearing her, Ty snatched a pen and notebook from his pocket, and scrawled a quick note in his neat, curvy handwriting. He thrust the pen and notebook back into his pocket, then pressed the note into Cora’s hand as he passed, digging the corners firmly into her palm so she couldn’t miss it.

Don’t talk. Just walk.

Just as it seemed he was about to pass her, Ty hooked his arm through hers and continued walking casually along, merging with the crowd as though nothing were out of the ordinary. He understood how people like Stix thought... If he and Cora could just merge for a while, they would not notice her at all. They went for those girls who stood out the most. Those who looked alone and vulnerable… So easy to pick on – like a baby gazelle to a lion.
But if Cora made a scene and got him noticed, Ty would most certainly not be impressed. In fact, he would probably side with Stix. He wasn’t a good guy, after all… He just didn’t like being a bad guy either, if he could help it. He simply did what he had to in order to survive.

Cora looked at the note, then just shrugged and walked with him, not saying a word. She barely dared to breathe. What was going on? Why did he give that note to her? So many unanswered questions. She glanced behind them, but didn't see anything to unusual. Cora looked back at Ty, wanting to ask him what was happening, but she didn't. She knew very well that she shouldn't, she was smarter than That.

After a while of walking, she stopped, pulling him with her. "Whats going on?" She demanded, wanting to finally have some answers. "And you had better give me a straight answer, or I'll...I'll.." She didn't finish because she wasn't sure how to, so she just balled her hand up in a fist.

[Sorry it's so short and pokey, my brain is dead todayxD]

Ty suddenly felt himself jerked to a stop, which caused instant annoyance to flare up within him. His expression twitched toward a frown, but he hid his irritation well.
Thinking on his feet, Tyson bent down as if to check a shoelace - thus explaining the cease of his and Cora's motion - and scanned the legs of the crowd for Sitx and the gang at the same time. They had a distinct style of walking that he knew like the back of his hand. He wouldn't miss it.

Much to his relief, Stix was nowhere in sight.
Still ignoring Cora's question, Ty straightened in a dignified fashion, then stepped away from her, gesturing subtly with his head for her to follow. There was no longer any need for him to link arms with her, and he was glad. He never really enjoyed physical contact of any sort. He merely tolerated it, and only when necessary.
Once he was a little to the side - out of sight, but not suspiciously so - Tyson turned his attention to Cora's question. He did not appreciate being threatened, but he supposed he did probably have to explain to her...
With a weary sigh, Tyson retrieved his notebook and pen from his pocket, and jotted down a few words in his tidy scrawl.

Gangs are about. I needed a cover, as did you. This brief pairing was a mutually beneficial disguise. They won't notice us now.

He kept the notebook out for just long enough for Cora to read what he had written, then flipped it closed and glanced toward her with a somewhat bored expression, clearly awaiting his dismissal. He had things to do, after all.
Ha.
It was pathetic, how far from true that thought was.

She watched him bend down, utterly confused. She then read the note and narrowed her eyes. She made a scoffing sound then looked at him. Cora crossed her arms and puffed out her cheeks, which she did whenever she was angry. She watched as he straightened up, then realized he was waiting for dismissal.
"Oh no, no no no. You're going to answer some more of my questions." She grabbed his arm and pulled him along to a cafe on the corner. She sat down then pointed to the chair across from her.
"Sit." It wasn't a suggestion, more of a demand.

Tyson heaved a weary sigh, then followed Cora with exaggerated patience as she lead him to the cafe. He did not like cafes, so he really wished she would just leave him be... Though he supposed he didn't mind all that much. Not really.

When they entered the cafe, Ty sat as commanded - not approving of being ordered around, but certainly not considering it worth making a scene out of.

So he relaxed and leaned back in his seat, then raised his eyebrows questioningly toward Cora, waiting for her to get on with whatever she wanted to say, so that he could get back to his boring and pointless everyday life.

Cora clasped her hands together and propped her chin up on them. She studied him carefully, choosing carefully where to begin. She decided to start with the beginning.

"Where'd you find my wallet?" She asked, keeping her voice even. Then curiousity got the better of her.
"And who was the gang? Why did we need cover? Were they coming after you? And where's your sister? Where do you guys live?" On and on and on she went, and she had a million more, but then she decided to let him answer those ones. She waited patiently for him to answer her. She enjoyed the sound of other peoples voices, and really only enjoyed hers when she had a question. She hated speaking in front of a crowd with all eyes on her, but when she was alone or with her friends she could talk all day and night. But only if she was comfortable.

Tyson listened to Cora for a while, but as she droned on and on - he soon got bored, and decided to turn and stare blankly out of the window, scanning the crowds for Stix and his delightful little cronies.
Unable to see them, Ty finally turned back to Cora once she had ceased speaking - expecting that he was supposed to answer her questions now. So he thought back to what few he could remember, and answered with blunt, direct honesty. Euphemism was for the weak - or so he thought anyway.

So he whipped out his pen and notepad - glad to have the table to press on - and scribbled a series of neat notes in black ink.

Lizzie nicked the wallet. She's pretty crafty. I thought it was somewhat unscrupulous though, so I brought it back. The gang are Stix and his guys. They're our gang, but I don't trust them, since they don't trust me - so I prefer to keep out of their way.
Lizzie will be around somewhere. She'll find me when she needs something. And we don't exactly live anywhere, but we get by.
Is that enough of an answer?
Can I go now? I'm bored.

He turned and stared impatiently at her, tapping his pen irritatingly against the table top. Clearly, Tyson had no intention of sugarcoating anything. He was no Mr. Nice Guy. (Razz)

Cora read over it for a minute. Then she sat there for a moment pondering this.
"No. I have more questions. Why don't you just talk, rather than write? I haven't really heard you speak once since we met." She stopped, then started again.
"And why would she be so nice and then take my wallet? That's just wrong. On so many levels." She was sad about that. It was obvious in her eyes. She had really hoped they could be friends, but friends trusted eachother and she did not trust that Lizzie girl. She rested her chin on her clasped hands. She stared at him, her head unconciously tilting to the side.
"You two are very different. Are you really siblings? Because...well you don't look like it. At all." Her voice was guarded. She didn't want to offend him, but if he started getting angry she had a quick tongue. It would be easy for her to think of witty comebacks. Though she hated doing it. She tried never to get into fights, but trouble always seemed to find her. She lowered her eyes in sadness. She would really like to have more friends. Nothing ever seemed okay for her. And now....no. She wouldn't think about it. This guy, Ty, got her mind off of her issues. She liked him. He was nice. Yeah...she liked him. Not in a boyfriend way. Well..he was cute. Very cute. She shook her head in dismissal of the thought.

Tyson drew in a deep breath, then released it in an exaggerated sigh – doing nothing to conceal his impatience.

With dramatic actions, he picked up his pen again, and began answering the avalanche of questions that continuously spewed from Cora’s lips.

I made a pact of silence, so I don’t speak.

He paused a moment, wondering if he should explain more, then decided against it and moved on to the next question, flipping to a clean page before continuing.

I know it’s wrong, what she did… He hesitated a moment, frowning thoughtfully, then resumed writing. But that’s just one of Lizzie’s ways to keep herself alive. Everybody has their methods, and in a life like ours they can’t always be… ‘Right’. Think about it, you’ll understand.

Then he flipped the page again, and answered the final question, feeling relieved that it was over.

We’re half siblings. Same mother, different father. But you’re right, we’re pretty different. It’s best that way, right?

He sighed and flipped his notebook shut, then leaned back in his chair – clearly resigning himself to staying where he was despite his desire to leave.

Cora read over it.

"Oh. Well why'd you do that? Make a pact of silence, I mean. You don't really strike me as someone who wants to be a mime." She grinned to show she was only teasing.

"I understand that your life is hard but you have to draw a line somewhere." She said, her voice on the verge of anger. There was something that just really bugged her about that. It was so.....not okay.

"I guess it is. But I would imagine that it would get frustrating. I'm sure it would get frustrating...since I'm pretty sure you guys don't agree on much."

Ty responded with a tight smile, then sketched his response.

Indeed not... I simply swore not to speak until I'd accomplished my goal. He glanced at her briefly, his smouldering gaze searching hers defiantly, as though daring her to mock his decision.

And as for Lizzie, I already explained that, for me, what she did 'crossed a line', as you say. Her lines simply lie in different places to mine, as with everybody. I accept that, as does she, so we don't need to agree. Not that it matters to you, anyway.

He looked up again and stared blankly up at her - still seeming completely bored, yet inwardly beginning to feel a little more comfortable in the conversation, and even grateful to be 'speaking' with somebody of a slightly higher class than most he was forced to associate with. It made him feel slightly more at home.
He pursed his lips in consideration.
He didn't mind the conversation, really...

You seemed upset earlier. He sketched suddenly, remembering the fake smile on her lips when he had Lizzie had first 'met' her. If you don't mind my asking - why was that? Not that I care...

He dropped his pencil with a sigh and turned to stare aloofly out of the window, clearly disgusted by the prospect of anybody mistakenly thinking he might 'care'.

Cora pursed her lips, thinking.

"Well, what's your goal then?" She asked, truly curious.

She thought about their different lines....
"Where does she draw hers, then? Since there is somewhere...I'd like to know where. Just in case."

Cora watched him watch her. Despite his aloof and careless manner, when she looked closer something inside of him seemed to loosen up. She smiled. That made her happy. She felt better when those around her were content. So long as everyone around her was happy, she would be. Sort of, at least.

She read the last thing. She frowned and furrowed her eyebrows.

Lowering her voice, she told him what had been troubling her.
"Well..ah...today...10 years ago, my parents died. They were murdered. Some sort of gang thing, the police said. It's a cold case. I wasn't home when it happened. I was...at a birthday party. I didn't want to go, but my mom made me. Thinking back I think she knew they would be killed that night but....I jut wish I had been there." She lowered her eyes. She sighed. He probably didn't even
really want to hear her sob story. She was even pretty sick of it herself.

Ty listened with exaggerated patience to everything that Cora had to say, then clicked his pen, one opened with a blunt, impolite command.

Talk less, in future. I can’t afford writing cramps in my lifestyle.

He took a deep breath, flexed his fingers, then began scribbling furiously.

My goal is to find my father. Lizzie’s ‘lines’ are her own business, and something you’d need to discuss with her, not me.

He finished in as few words as he could, then paused slightly – breathing in quietly before going on, more slow and thoughtful now.

As for your parents… I’m sorry, honestly… He glanced at her for a moment, letting a hint of sympathy enter his eyes, then went on. It must have been hard to lose them… I understand. You’ve done well to keep a smile.

He paused, letting a faint humorless smile twitch his own lips.

Even if it isn’t a real one.
