"We are not having this discussion." He said forcefeully, standing up. "Claire, I love you. You're worth ten thousand of me!" He pulled her up and hugged her fiercly, glacing around to see if there were any other tributes. He kissed the top of her head and murmured. "You are so beautiful."

She hugged him back. "I love you too, but Rhys. Be realistic. You're the one that should go home." She put her hand on his cheek, and looked straight into his eyes. "You know that's the truth." Claire raised her eyebrows, watching him carefully. Then she glanced around to see if anyone else was there. She didn't see anybody..

I am the one to go home, his mind laughed at him. "C'mon." He said, tugging on Claire's hand. "Let's go find water."

She gave a slight nod, and followed after him. She was a little worried that someone would see through their act. It seemed fairly real, but she knew they were just acting. But when it came down to it, which one of them was really going home? She was being honest when she had said he should be the one to go home.

Rhys squeezed her hand when he saw the worry on her face. "It's okay, love, nothing will touch you. I promise." He smiled - somewhat deviously - and crossed mental fingers in his head. He pulled her into a tight embrace, smelling the fruity scent of her hair. He sighed in happiness - or what would look like happiness.

She stood there, limply. Then she slowly wrapped her arms around him. She didn't know if she could do this anymore. She pulled away, and looked right into his eyes. Hoepfully he'd get the message that she didn't want to lie anymore. She held him at an arms length away, searching his gaze for any sign that he understood.

Rhys gave the barest hint of a nod, his eyes suddenly filling to the brim with sadness. "C'mon." He said gently, tugging her hand. "We have to make camp." He swung her into his arms and cradled her while walking. He smiled down at her but his eyes were still full of unashamed hurt.

She refused to look him in the eye for fear he'd do something to change her mind. "I think it's time..." She hopped down from his arms and waited for him to say something.

Rhys sighed. "Yeah, I guess it is." He found a small cluster of crab-apple trees which were covered in the prettiest white and pink blossoms. "I guess it's spring." He murmured, running a hand over one.

"Pretty." She said half heartedly, looking rather solemn.

"C'mon, Claire-Bear, don't be so sad." Rhys pulled her into a hug and whispered fiercly in her ear, "People are starting wonder now."

"You know perfectly well why I'm sad." She pulled away, angrily. She put her hands on her stomach, much like a pregnant mother would. Then a thought occurred to her.

Rhys arched an eyebrow slightly and understood. "I know." He whispered, placing his hands on top of hers. "Which is why you're living."

She shook her head. "No. No. No!" She shut her eyes tight and shook her head with each no.

"I won't have this argument with you now." Rhys said firmly and picked here up gently, setting her in a tree. He quietly made a wreath for her out of the flowers and placed it around her neck with a smile. "Climb, Claire."

"The tree? But Im no good at climbing." She said, looking at him worriedly. If she fell she'd die...could that be his plan all along? To make sure she never made it back? Her eyebrows furrowed in concentration.

"I'll help you." He whispered, ignoring her look of confusion. "We have to stay high and quiet." Silently, he pulled himself up, around, and over her. He held out his had with a smile.

She took it and smiled back, but her eyes were distrustful as she took it. She pulled herself up quietly, then sat down on another branch.

Rhys's face fell, as if he was in actual sorrow, not even acting, but his head was filled with angry thoughts at himself. How did she found out?! You did something, didn't you... The Careers are going to kill you now. You had a deal...

She pulled away, slowly as possible. She turned away from him. "Rhys?" She looked at the sky, and said his name quietly as possible.

"Yes?" He whispered, a look of concern filling his face.

"Why are we up here?" She looked at him with arched eyebrows. She wasn't going to let on anymore about her suspicions of him, just was going to see what happened. If he tried to kill her...well all of Panem would see.

"Keep away from the hungry animals." He laughed and poked her in the stomach. "They'ed eat you first cause you're the sweetest." He offered a genuine smile, unaware of how corny it was.

"Hm, gross. But sweet." She nudged his shoulder gently and gave him a small smile.

Rhys laughed and leaned forward, kissing her head gently. "Get somem rest." He put his and on her stomach and rubbed it gently.
