I giggled at his reaction,clearly oblivious to the fact that he wasn't actually joking, and switched to another song.
Leon walked away as Jeeves appeared behind me and the two talked for a few short moments. Jeeves handed Leon a tank, which he came back with and poured the fuel into petrol slot.
Thank goodness... At least we wouldn't be stuck for much longer.
Leon then came and sat beside me, and I still hadn't taken the glasses off.
I didn't care who saw me, because I felt great in them. Even if they were men's glasses.
“Right then. To the apartment!” I said brightly, turning on the engine. It roared into gear – rattling unhealthily for a few seconds as the machine got used to having so much petrol to work with – and before I knew it, we were out on the road again.
“I've got a massive urge to put my foot down again.” I mused with a grin. “I don't suppose you suffer from car sickness, do you? I hear I'm a mad driver when I want to be. Although since I don't have a license I think I'd better not.”
I thought for a moment as we drove down the highway, then changed to the top lane.
Like a race horse at the starting gate...
Since when had I become such an adrenaline junky? I'd never even dared to act like this in front of any of the teachers at school.
Oh well.
“So... What d'you want to do, tonight? I mean, I've never had a guy sleepover before, and I'm guessing your needs'll be different to Lucy's. Unless you really do want to spend three hours talking about periods, hair and boys...”
I beamed stupidly at him then, waiting to see his reaction.

"I don't get car sickness, but if you start driving like you did earlier, you'll give me a heart attack." Leon warned, only half teasing.
Leon glanced fondly at Abby, and chuckled slightly as the car began easing forward faster and faster. He did enjoy a bit of speed...

As Abby spoke again, Leon turned to her and raised an eyebrow. "Girls seriously do that stuff?" He asked with a laugh, "I honestly thought that was only in the movies. How cliche." He snickered, and shook his head. "I'm up for anything, really." He shrugged, "Except waxing."
His voice was suddenly gripped by a horror-movie tone, and a theatrical shudder ran through him.
"I am not up for waxing."

"Waxing it is." I grinned, pressing my foot down a little more just as we overtook a silver Volvo."And yes, girls do that stuff. I personally get bored of it quite early on, but it's the only thing me and Lucy can talk about comfortably without things getting to... 'Personal'. She finds it hard bringing up things to do with my family, and she feels too embarassed and guilty if wer talk about hers. So we keep the discussions simple. Did you know she's had thirteen crushes since the beginning ot the year?"

"Oh gosh, kill me now..." Leon muttered teasingly in response, rolling his eyes skywards.
Okay. Bad choice of words...
A ripple of fear ran through him as he sat dead still for a moment, hoping desperately that the Heavens wouldn't answer his joking plea.
Thank goodness.
Relieved, Leon turned his attention back to Abby.
"Hmm, that makes sense, I guess." He agreed, nodding seriously. He was silent a moment, then suddenly burst out. "Wait, thirteen crushes?! Are you serious?!" He stared at her in wide-eyed disbelief, then thought a moment and added, "Wait a minute, are you even supposed to tell me that? Isn't there some sort of girl confidentiality code?" He raised an eyebrow questioning.
Then, feeling the car slowing, he glanced out of the window.
"This it?" He asked, glancing up at the tall buildings surrounding them.
Here goes... He thought, taking a deep breath to steel himself. At least I'm used to those ridiculously adorable sunglasses now.
The thought sent another unwelcome thrill running through him.
Damn Abby - why did she have to put this idea in his head?! Maybe not on purpose, but still...
It was going to be a long night... And a long life, too, if time kept dragging by so torturingly slowly.

I rolled my eyes as we approached the oddly familiar block of flats and turned into a large garage. “Confidentiality code? Now you really have been watching too many of those movies.” I sneered, stopping the car and turning off the engine.
“Flippin' heck, you make us sound like secret agents. We're talking about guys here, not stolen diamonds. And it doesn't matter about the number. If I told you who they all were, than that would be... Against the 'unwritten code'. Or, in other words, just plain unfair.”
I took off my seat belt and slipped off the glasses. But I didn't put them back in the car.
Hell... I'd have to find some sort of inspiration for entertainment if Leon got bored of watching movies all night.
Instead, I slipped them in my pockets and got out the car. “Well, we're here. It's not glamorous, but it serves it's purpose and we won't be getting any interruptions tonight.”
Which brought to question... “By the way, what're you sleeping in? I may have something in that'll fit you, but I can't guarantee that it won't make you look a little bit gay.” I added, sticking my tongue out teasingly.

"Being gay would be easier..." Leon commented, tapping his chin thoughtfully - as though he was honestly considering it. "And as you pointed out before, I do love the chick flicks." He flashed a dazzling grin, then laughed and shook his head. "Ah, I'll think of something." He shrugged, "Though I intend to avoid gay clothes if at all possible. The hospital gown was bad enough." Shuddering dramatically, Leon pulled a face, then hopped out of the car after Abby.
He couldn't deny that part of him did wish he was gay... It would certainly make interacting with Abby a Hell of a lot easier.
It's going to be a long night...
"Well, come on!" He said eagerly, jerking himself out of his thoughts, and flashing a brief grin before jogging up to the front door.
The short run took more out of him than he expected, and he was annoyed to find himself feeling a little breathless.
He hated the constant reminders that his life was drawing to a close... He actually just wanted to forget about it, and live in the moment. He had never been the sort to worry about what was up ahead...
Then again, judging by the situation he had landed himself in, maybe that was a bad thing.

“Who said we'd be watching chick flicks?” I asked, locking the door behind me. Noticing he'd already set off to the front door of the block of flats, I quickly jogged on after him.
“I don't know about you, but I'm in the mood for A-Team, Fast and Furious Five and The Exorcist(I think that's how you spell it... I've never actually seen the film o.0). You'll find the only thing anywhere near chick-flicky in that apartment is Eclipse, and that's still in sealed packaging.”
I grinned as we reached the buzzer and pressed in the number – my birthday: 0610. After the quiet, out-of-tuned beep the door opened freely and we entered the flats.
“I'm on the second floor, but it's not that much of a trek up the stairs.” I turned to him, then realised how abnormally tired her was.
God... e really wasn't well.
“Or... We could always take the lift.”

"Works for me." Leon responded with a chuckle, irritation flashing through him again as his words came out breathlessly. "At my place, you'd be more likely to find 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen', or 'The Princess Diaries'." He laughed, "Honestly, sometimes I think I'm more of a girl than you are."
With a teasing wink, he hurried over to the elevator - annoyed that Abby had picked up on his exhaustion, and not wanting to draw any more attention to it. Though of course, he didn't want to climb the stairs, either.

I shook my head in amusement, watching him rush towards the elevator despite his desperate gasps for breath. "Why're you acting so eager to get upstairs?" I asked. "These blocks are as quiet as caves (don't know where that expression came from o.0), and no one knows us. Why the rush?"
Shrugging to myself I slid my hands in my pockets and strolled on calmly after him, just reaching the elevator before the doors closed. "But yeah, the girl thing..,. I get that a lot. It is kinda true, in a way. It was one of the reasons Peach dumped me in a care home. Would you believe I was, a long time ago, one of those pretty little girls in frilly, pink dresses and high heels?"

((Haha! Ditto, I haven't watched it yet... But I have it on my PC, and I'm planning to watch it soon. ))

"Just excited I guess." Leon responded with a smile. This was true, of course - but he could not deny that his 'eagerness' also had something to do with over compensating for the fact that he clearly was not well... "I don't-" He broke off suddenly, frowning, "Wait..." Suddenly, the rest of Abby's words his him. "Wait... Are you serious? Frilly, pink..." He trailed off into silence, eyes widening in horror. "You?! Ha! I'm sorry, I just can't imagine that." A loud bark of laughter emphasized his words - though inwardly, an image of Abby in a frilly pink dress crept unbidden into his mind.
And although it wasn't real, it was so pathetically cute that he almost blushed.
Suddenly, that tormenting feeling of shy awkwardness returned, and Leon felt his heart quicken.
It was useless trying to convince himself otherwise now; he was crazy about Abby.
Sighing softly, he glanced away - suddenly so lost in thought that he didn't even notice when the elevator doors slid open, and it announced its arrival with a 'ting'.
How was he supposed to keep his stupid feelings a secret from Abby when she kept tempting him like this? He feared he wasn't strong enough to do it...
What have I gotten myself into here...?

"I know, I know. Don't rub it in." I mumbled with a sneer, watching the doors slide open. "It didn't last long, because I realised how much easier being a tomboy actually is. You don't have to worry about clothes, or make up, or looks..." Well, that last one was kind of a lie. I still cared about my looks, just perhaps not as much as Leon did.
"And it's so much easier to socialise with everyone, ya know?"
i strolledo ut of the elevator and walked the short journey to my flat. It didn't take long, there were only four apartments in this floor.
I pulled out my key and opened the door. I was greeted by a plain, empty room filled with nothing much more than a bed, TV, controls and a small, crippled desk chair from the previous owner of the flat abandoned in the corner. The only natural source of light was a tiny pigion-hole-sized window by the foot of the bed and a naked, unprotected light bulb hung by a thick wire loosely from the cieling.
"Well, this is it. As I said, it ain't much. But hey, make yourself at hime."
I kicked off my shoes and plonked myself on the foot of the bed causing the springs to bounce noisily up and down.
I just hoped Leon wouldn't take this the wrong way like he had done last time...

Leon jumped when the sound of Abby's voice droning in his ears vanished, and he realised that she had left. He managed to leap from the elevator just in time before the doors closed - and then he hurried after Abby, falling into step beside her before she could notice his absence. He had to hold his breath, too, for fear she noticed his heavy breathing. But when he began to feel light-headed, Leon decided that this was a terribly stupid plan, and abandoned it at once.
He stumbled into the little flat behind Abby, and gazed around in fascination.
"Wow..." He murmured in disbelief. "It's so... Normal." Realising how celebrity-like that comment made him sound, Leon rolled his eyes - then followed Abby's example and kicked off his shoes.
The sound of the bed's springs squeaking beneath Abby's weight niggled in the back of his mind, but he refused to be mislead by whatever memories the sound conjured.
"So..." He asked through a yawn - desperate for a conversation to distract himself. "What do we do now?"
Exhaustion was tugging at him now. It was amazing just how much exertion it took to pretend not to love somebody. It had left him emotionally drained - which in turn left him so tired overall that the edges of his vision were tinted with tantalising darkness, inviting him to sleep.
A sudden lethargy gripped him, and as he felt his knees buckle, Leon slid down to sit on the floor, leaning back against the wall and looking up at Abby with a tired smile.
Naturally, he didn't dare sit beside her.

"What do we do now?" I echoed, thinking the question through in my head.
He had ap oint. What did we do, now? I didn't know what guys wanted to do at sleepovers, since I'd never actually had a guy sleepover before.
Hmm...
"Well, we could always..." I turned to him, noticing he'd just slid to the floor. How tired was he? He couldn't even make it to the top of the mattress.
Well, he was, ya know, dying...
Forcing the thought to the back of my head I stood up. "We can do whatever you want. I'll turn on the TV, and I'll look around in the drawes for something that might fit you. But don't get your hopes up." I winked at him as I wandered over to my little 'kitchen corner' and retrieved two mugs from the small cupboard below the sink.
"Do you want a drink?" I asked, keeping my back to him.

"Thanks." Leon replied with a nod, smiling gratefully. "I'm just gonna rest a moment - all this pretending has taken a lot out of me."
Unaware of his little slip-up (('Pretending' ^^ XD )), since he was now so tired he could barely think. Leon yawned and added, "If I fall asleep, just throw something at me."
With that, he let his eyes flicker closed for a moment, though he kept a fragile grip on consciousness.
All he needed was a few moments' rest, and he'd be fine. He was just unfit, that was all...
Despite his best efforts, Leon did find himself on the border of sleep. He felt bad, because he knew that he and Abby were supposed to be having fun - but the truth was that he couldn't have fun until he had replenished at least a little energy.

"Wait a minute, sleepy head." What did he just say? "Pretending?"
I stopped.
Pretending...? Pretending to do what? What wasn't he telling me?
I rolled my eyes, deciding it was best to make the drinks before I demanded anything from him. He wasn't going to tell me anything useful in the state he was in.
I poured him a cold glass of water and made myself some hot tea. Then I turned the TV on and sat cross legged on the bed, just behind him.
"Pretending, eh?" I asked slyly, wondering vaguely whether he was 'pretending' to be tired just so that he wouldn't have to put up with the horrors of having a 'girly' sleepover.
I sneered to myself, ignoring the droning voices of the news reporters blasting through the television speakers and poured the glass of water over Leon's head.
Well, let's see how well he could pretend with that all over his clothes.
"Leon?" I asked innocently. "Are you awake yet?"

Leon yelped and jumped when he suddenly felt a splash of something icy on his head. Cold water trickled from his hair down his spine, and Leon found himself on his feet without any recollection whatsoever of ever having stood up.
He blinked at Abby in bewildered disbelief from behind his wet fringe, then he brushed it out of his face, and shook the water from his hair - making sure to splash Abby in the process. "You know." He said, hands perched indignantly on hips, "You could have just thrown a pillow at me or something. Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" He rolled his eyes and laughed, then brushed his dripping fringe out of his eyes again.
"I'm awake. And I'm wet." He answered finally, narrowing his eyes in playful irritation.
But of course, he wasn't really annoyed. That had been just what he needed.

“I could have used a pillow, yes.” I sneered, leaning back on the bed, holding my heels playfully like a baby trying to amuse itself. “But the reaction wouldn't have been nearly as amusing as that.” My face lit up into a huge, beaming grin. “You looked like you'd peed yourself.”
I let out an amused, high-pitched squeak escape through my lips and straight away regretted it.
That made me sound like such a... Girl.
Colour rushed to my cheeks. I cleared my throat awkwardly. It was time to go back to why I'd thrown the water over his head in the first place.
However, I began to feel a slight breeze on my cheeks and brought my palm to my cheek to see what it was. A single droplet of water trickled onto my fingers.
What? What the hell was that?
Then I remembered. Of course, Leon's hair! I should have see that coming.
Feeling slightly at ease as the past few moments replayed like a jammed video tape through my head, I gazed up at Leon with a calm, yet slightly curious stare. “So what is it you were pretending?”

"Fair enough." Leon replied, his mouth twisting into an amused smirk. "I guess I walked into that one..." He shook his wet hair again, then tilted his head slightly to one side, and regarded Abby with a curious expression.
"Pretending?" He asked, fixing a convincing expression of innocent confusion on his face. "Whatever do you mean?"
Oh crap, I said that out loud...? Crap, crap, crap, crap...
Desperate for a lie, any lie, Leon began inventing wildly in the back of his mind - but nothing came to him. His mind was too full of Abby to have room for anything else.

((Sorry I was late logging on today - mother got kicked and had to go in to hospital. She's okay, though. ))

((Kicked? Wait, you do mean by one of the horses, right? Not that makes it any better, but it sounds less like she got attacked by some randomer off the street... Good to know she's okay, though. ))

My eyes rolled in annoyance to the sky as he replied to my question, and I could tell straight away that he was lying. For one, I knew exactly what he'd said before he dozed off. He knew it, too.
So why was he denying it? Wouldn't it be much easier for him to just confess and explain himself?
But obviously, I wasn't going to get through to him just by repeating what he'd said and giving him an excuse to just reply with an innocent 'Who, me? I never said that'. I'd have to do this the old fashioned way.
Smiling sweetly I shiftd to the edge of the bed, uncrossed my legs and let them hang loosely towards the floor. I wasn't letting him get away with that. If he was hiding something, I would know about it. He would tell me sooner or later.
"You know, the boiler isn't turned on yet. The water that comes from that sink is ice cold. All of it. And if you think about it, since it comes from a reservoir not too far out in the countryside, it would take around fifty elite swimming pools to get rid of all that water and more is pouring in through the pipes all the time. Just think how many mug-fulls of water I could pour over you before the reservoir runs out." I stood up, my eyes narrowing threatening, although my mouth was still smiling with a hint of cheekiness twinkling in my eyes.
"Ice..."
I took a step towards him.
"Cold..."
We were only around a foot or so away from each other.
"Water..."
The gap was closing in...
"D'you get my point?" Well even if he didn't, I'd get a good laugh out of it, that's for sure.

Leon stared blankly at Abby as she approached, his eyes slowly widening in mock horror. "You'll never make me talk!" He exclaimed dramatically, raising his hands to fend her off. "Besides, you wouldn't dare freeze a sick guy." He flashed a challenging grin, and stumbled backwards slightly away from Abby.
She wouldn't have to threaten to torture him much longer... If she kept walking closer like that, he would probably end up just giving in and kissing her, as the voice in his head kept insisting he do.
His willpower really wasn't that strong...

My eyes narrowed further, but just when I thought I was going to shove past him and thrown yet more water on him, I stopped and shrugged. "Fine." I said, raising my hands in defeat. I'd get him later. When he wasn't expecting it...
Perhaps maybe if he was sleeping again...
Ah, yes! That would be most amusing.
"But there'll be no Ben and Jerry's icecream for you, pal!" I strolled past him, rubbing his hair playfully as I went. It was such a boyish gesture I almost forget I was supposed to be acting like a girl.
Screw that. Peach wasn't hear. I didn't have to act like anyone other than myself. That goodness.
I wandered back to the kitchen corner and opened a cabinet above the sink. Canned food was stacked neatly in rows, seemingly untouched for weeks... Maybe even months.
"Okay, we've got tinned chicken, tinned beans, tinned tuna, tinnes soup..." I rolled my eyes, swinging back round to face him. "In fact, whatever you want, name it. I'll probably have it there, somewhere. But if you want anything fresh, other than bread, then you'll have to go to the shop and get it yourself."

"Hey, now I'm not complaining, but since when do you give up so easily?" Leon asked curiously as he trotted after Abby. Usually he would have taunted her about it, but as it were, he was slightly worried. It seemed so out-of-character for her...
Shaking aside his thoughts, Leon quickly focused on the selection of food.
None of it looked very good... But hey, he had been living off hospital food recently.
"Tinned soup sounds good." He replied with a smile.

((Ugh, I'm really sucking. -.- ))

((You're allowed to be. Mine are hardly masterpieces.))

"I've not given up." I said simply, turning back to the cupboard and retrieving a can of soup onto the work top. It was true. Of course I hadn't given up. I just wasn't going to tell him what I was planning to do.
I brought out a pan from the cupboaard below the sink and poured the soup into it.
Then I noticed I was holding something in my left hand and glanced at it curiously. Without realising, I noticed I'd carried the little white mug now empty of water and brought it all the way over to the sink. It was as if my mind was telling me: Use it. Use it...
Grinning to myself, I quickly filled up the mug, spun round and poured it over Leon's head once more.
"'Nough said." I said with a sweet smile. "Now sit on the bed like a good little boy and watch TV whilst mummy makes you some tea." I said mockingly, cocking my head to one side looking as innocent as a week old puppy.

Leon closed his eyes as the mug of water was thrown directly into his face. Unfortunately, it was so sudden that he had no time to duck.
"Pffft." He blew the water from his lips, then shook his head again, and flipped his thick fringe away from his eyes so it stuck upwards - making him look like an absolutely ridiculous version of Elvis Presley. "You know you're pure evil, right?" Leon asked, imitating Abby's innocent tone. He shivered dramatically, then trotted obediently over to the couch and sat down, trying to rub the chill from his arms.
"If I catch the flu from this, I'm taking you out of my will." Leon teased threateningly, as yet another shiver ran through him.

"Oh, stop it." I teased, waving him off with a flick of my hand. "You are such a drama queen, d'you know that? Here." I reached around the sink and pulled out a tea-towel from the hanger on the wall. I chucked it roughly at his face and got back to cooking the food.
"Now put a sock in it whilst I get this dinner sorted."
I turnedo n the gas and began heating up the soup. Before long it had began to bubble and I could tell from the steam coming from the sides that it was pretty much ready. I got out two plates and poured in the colourful slop, turned off the gas and dumped the pan in the sink.
I'd wash it up later. At some point...
"Right. One vegetable soup." I said weith a happy sigh, handing him the bowl and curling up next to him.
"So what's on TV?"
