I shrugged. "We weren't running for that long." I grumbled, watching my feet. It was kind of weird though, because if I were a normal person, I would be breathing heavier. Next time i'll work on that. "Hey look, there's the steak house!" I said, pointing to the house, changing the subject. I looked both ways before stepping into the quiet street.

He shrugged. "I'm not." he said. "It's just something I don't believe, like the Devil, or, or... Santa." He said, and shrugged, taking another bite.

He followed beside her, smiling. He could use a nice, iced drink. He wondered a bit how she wasn't sweating at all, but figured it was because she worked out a lot.

I watched him eat, smiling. I decided I would show him.. After all, if he decided to tell anyone..

I walked in, and got a table, sitting in the booth gently. I rested my hands in my lap, looking out the window. It was already dark, but I wasn't surprised. I looked back over at Riley, before taking the menu that was in front of me.

He looked up at her to see her smiling, and he smile gently back.

He smiled, and took the menu. "I'll get the regular." He said, pointing at the special on the front of it, setting it down as the waitress brought the drinks, him taking a refreshing sip.

I sighed, noticing it was dark. "Can I show you something? I swear to God if you told anyone, things would be bad, but I feel like you should know." I said quietly.

I looked at the waitress, waiting for me to order. "Oh, i'll have extra, super duper, extremely rare steak with no seasoning." I said with a smile, and closed the menu, sliding it to her. I looked over at Riley, and smiled a bit for a second.

He looked at her, and cocked an eyebrow, before nodding slightly. "Yeah." he said.

He smiled a bit, raising his eyebrow before shrugging it off. "Extra rare, isn't that.. Dangerous?" He asked, sliding his menu to the waitress.

I stood up. "Let's go. I'll let you eat something later if you're hungry." I said, just as the bill came. I quickly paid, and walked over to him. "We're going for a walk.. To the woods." I said, smiling gently.

I looked at the waitress and handed her the menu, and she walked away. I turned my head to look at him, and smiled a bit. "Well, I guess you could say dangerous is my middle name." I said, leaning forward a bit over the table, my hands holding each other as the spread in front of me a bit. I grinned, my smile showing all my bright, sharp, white teeth. My head was tilted slightly, and my eyes shown a red/amber that had a mysterious glint to them, showing none of my past. It was fun scaring people.

He nodded slowly, really confused. "The woods..? But it's dark... and late." He stammered, but stood and followed her. He felt drawn to her.

He jumped a bit, his body quivering slightly. She looked a bit.. Frightening, yet she was absolutely gorgeous. He couldn't place it, but she looked rather magical. He smiled a bit, showing his own teeth, noticing hers were extremely sharp.

I walked in front of him. "Yes the woods, and yeah I know. That's why we're going there, and now." I said, stepping outside.

I laughed a bit as I leaned back, crossing my arms. I looked at him, my smile not fading along with the glint in my eyes. I honestly wondering what he thought of me, but at the same time I didn't care. I just kind of wanted to suck his blood. Trust me, just his blood.

He nodded slowly, staying a distance from her so he could get away easily if he needed to. He followed her outside, rubbing his arms and putting his hood up from the chill and the ice cold rain.

He smiled at her. "You have very pretty eyes. They're unique." He said, looking into them, the colors seeming to sort of hypnotize him, in a sense.

I looked over my shoulder at him. "You'll be safe as long as you don't act like I have B.O. and you're avoiding me." I rolled my eyes, turning my attention ahead as I walked down the sidewalk heading to the woods, oblivious to the cold other than he was shivering.

My smiled faded, and I looked away. "Oh, thanks." I said, and closed them, letting the hair fall in my face. I opened them and shoved my bangs away when the waitress stopped by, and they turned bright red at the steak. I cut it, and took a bite, sucking the blood and closing my eyes. I swallowed down the chunk of meat, my nose scrunching a bit.

He cocked an eyebrow, and looked down as he walked, tucking his hands in his jacket pockets as the heavy rain hit his covered neck, yet it still gave him chills.

He looked at his plate of well-done steak, turning his eyes to her steak that was oozing with red liquid: blood. He smiled at her, and took a bite as he cut a tiny piece off, watching her eat it. "And you're sure you won't get salmonella?" He asked, studying it.

I stopped when we reached the woods. "Walk with me." I demanded, knowing it wasn't safe for him to be even feet away from me at night, or anytime really.

I looked up at him. "I have my ways, and it's none of your business looking at my food." I said, my chin held high as I pulled the plate closer to me and took another bite, sucking the blood and forcing the piece of foul food down my throat.

He looked around, before speeding up to walk beside her. He looked at the ground, not wanting her to see his fright. Yet, he didn't want to leave her because unusually, he liked her. She was gorgeous and somewhat mysterious, and very different.

He nodded, his face turning red. "Sorry." He said, poking at his meat with his fork, before putting it gingerly in his mouth, focusing on chewing carefully, not wanting to say anything to offend her even more.

Smiling as I realized we were alone, I turned to face him. "What do you think about me? Be honest." I refrained from saying 'I don't bite.'

I looked at my drippy steak, my eyes red and my mouth watering as I took another bite. I played around with it, before opening my mouth. "You weren't offending me, by the way." I grumbled, and took another bite as I looked back up at him.

He looked at her, and opened his mouth. "Well, I think your beautiful, your very sweet, and honestly I think there's something missing from you... But I don't know what. I mean, iv'e never met anyone as pale as you, and your dad is so cold, along with you... I just don't know." He finished, and looked up a bit.

He nodded. "Good. I don't mean to when I say stuff, you know." He said quietly as he put another piece in his mouth, chewing and swallowing. He took a drink, the cool liquid coursing down his throat.

I nodded. "You're right.. Well, maybe not the first part, but the last part.. You're right. That's not my real Dad, by the way. My real dad died.. about 50 years ago." I said, staring into his eyes, him probably only being able to see my bright red eyes shining through the darkness.

I nodded slowly and took my last bite, wiping my face with a napkin. "Ready?" I asked, and the waitress handing us the bill. I paid before he could, and stood up, not caring if he wasn't finished.

He cocked his eyebrows, his eyes widening. "Wait, what?" He asked, a bit of hesitant humor in his voice. Maybe he heard her wrong or she was kidding or something, because that's not possible.

He nodded. He had actually just finished as he stood up, following her out of the restaurant, frowning that she had paid. "I could've paid!" Knowing it was the gentlemen way of eating out, he looked back, trying to mentally count up how much was sitting on the table, hoping he could pay her back later.

"My real parents died back in the 60's/70's." I said, detecting that he thought it was a joke. "Which at that time I was 17."

I shrugged as I walked out beside him. "Don't worry about it, please. You need money more than I do." I said, and walked outside. I stayed a bit close to him, oblivious that I was as I walked down the side walk we had used to get here.

He looked at her. "What? Ashlyn, what the hell are you talking about?" He asked, his hand coming out of his pockets. Was she crazy or something? Thoughts ran through his mind.

He shrugged. "Still, I could've paid, you know." He said, smiling down at her. "But thanks." Walking close to her made him feel secure, like he had a friend.

"I'm cold, my teeth are sharp, I don't eat food, my skin is frighteningly pale, the Sun has strange effects on me, my eyes change from bright red to gold, I can go forever without breathing.. I'm not human, Emmett." I said calmly, looking in his eyes, grabbing his wrist to keep him from running.

I nodded. "Whatever." I grumbled, looking ahead as we walked. I tucked my hands in my pockets, nearing closer to my house, excited to be alone and away from him. Rain hit my head, and I pulled my hood up so I wouldn't get wet.

He struggled to pull his arm away, but her grasp was to tight. "What are you saying, Ashlyn? Your a freaking vampire?" He asked, his eyes wide with fright and his voice panicky and trembling.

He walked beside her. "Would you like me to escort you to your house? Well I'm going to, so I shouldn't have asked." He said, winking to show he was kidding.. Or maybe he was.

"Stop pulling, I won't hurt you." I rolled my eyes. "I'm a vampire, yes.." I said, quieter. "And I'm not crazy, I'm dead serious."

I rolled my eyes. "Well, you kind of have too since your car is parked in front of it, ding dong." I muttered, shaking my head at his own stupidity.

He looked at her, and tried to run, but stopped. "Are you going to eat me?" He asked, his voice small and trembling.

He laughed under his breath. "I could just get it tomorrow, or come after you pretending you don't know me. But I'd rather not." He said, shaking his head as he walked.

"No! No, nothing like that." I assured him, loosening the grip on his wrist before completely letting go. "Run. Leave me if you want. If you tell me to, I'll make sure you never see my face again, and you'll live a normal life here." I said, my eyes locked to his.
