Polo and Scatty-Batty-Catty

Vince grunted in surprise when he felt something collide with his back, and before he could do anything he was knocked to the ground. Then Adrian was upon him, and he felt a fist glance off his jaw. With a growl of fury, Vince kicked Adrian off him, then flung himself at the other boy with a savage fury - returning his punch in full force.

Adrian grunted as he was flung back. Pain shot through his side as he slammed into the lockers, and he was sure he had another bruised rib. Maybe even broken. He groaned, but had no time to defend himself as Vince punched him in the mouth. He tasted the blood before he registered the pain, thanks to the adrenaline running through his system. He shouted angrily and stood up.
"There. Now tell me what happened."

"What happened?" Vince repeated with a vicious sneer, his fist hovering in the air - ready to land another blow.
Slowly, he let it flop back to his side.
"Well, you just got your answer, didn't you? You pissed me off." He raised his chin defensively, "So I grabbed you by the throat, and next thing I knew you'd passed out." He snorted derisively, "Wimp. You're the only person I know who could actually be hurt by that." He rolled his eyes irritably, then brushed passed Adrian and resumed walking toward the door.

Adrian froze. "What?" He was so overcome with anger at this boy he didn't even know that he couldn't move. He wanted to go over there and suffocate him until he forgot everything! That is, if what he said was true. But why wouldn't it be? It sounded plausible enough. Lack of oxygen in the brain causes the cells to die. And his memory ccells died. Or something like that. He snorted and found he could move again, but the anger had faded.
He glanced around, a few things trickling back to him. Locker B632. As he walked over to it, he tried testing out his memoory. Nothing. Strange. He could remember stuff people had taught him, but not what he'd learned himself. He frowned, but continued walking. Crap. A combination. He didn't have one. With a sigh, he decided he'd get it tomorrow. After a yawn, Adrian realized he was tired. So tired, he could fall asleep on the ground. And that was exactly what he did...

The next day, Vince arrived at school, and headed straight for his first class - walking around on his own for once. He gnawed his lip anxiously - still fretting over what had happened with Adrian. He had barely hurt the boy! How could the result be this catastrophic?! He hadn't even known he was blocking Adrian's windpipe completely... He had just intended to teach him a lesson - not this...
Now he had no idea what to do. He had never felt so guilty in his life before.

As Adrian walked from class to class, he found himself referring to his schedule again and again like he was a freshamn. That thought would have made him laugh had he not felt the affects of it. He sighed as a girl bounded up to him.
"Hey, Adrian, where were you yesterday?"
Adrian. And then it struck him.
He'd forgotten his own name.
"Adrian..." He murmured. She looked at him quizzically. "Sorry. Who are you again?"
"Um, Liberty? Are you wasted?" She asked him, wondering what was going on.

((*Got nothing* :/ ... Help me? XD *Dies* ))

[[I've got nothing either, sorry. I'm really distracted right now. Stress. Blech. *wanders off*]]

((*Pats back* ))

When Vince saw Adrian, he bit down on his lip harder - glanced nervously left and right - then made his way over to him. "Hey..." He murmured under his voice, "Adrian, can we talk?"
His gaze shifted over the people drifting mindlessly past them, and when he didn't see any of his 'friends', he relaxed slightly.
He couldn't deal with this guilt any more... He had to do something. But if his friends caught him being anything but awful toward Adrian, it would be his neck on the line.

Liberty glared at Vince. "Just who the f*ck do you thinkn you are, wanting to talk to Adrian after everything you've done to him!" She was shouting now, and people were starting to stare at the normally shy boy. He'd obviously changed.

"Whatever." Vince growled irritably, "Suit yourself."
I was just going to apologise... He added silently, but he said nothing out loud. He didn't know what to do any more. He was irritated and confused. He certainly couldn't hit a girl, even if Liberty was pissing him off. And Adrian-
Hell... He hadn't a clue what to think of Adrian any more. He just wanted to get away from it all.
Setting his jaw in a hard line, Vince turned away and began walking back the way he had come.

Adrian waved a hand to Liberty. "It's okay. We do need to talk." He sighed and followed the other boy, strutting confidently. When the surprised heads turned to watch him walk so confidently, he wondered who he'd been before. The thought intrigued him. It was like a little mystery almost. He chuckled at that but continued forward.
"What?" He said as he caught up to Vince, walking a good distance away.

"In here." Vince muttered, nodding toward an empty room. He shouldered the door open, waiting for Adrian to step inside, then clicked it shut again.
"Okay, listen up, because I'm not saying this twice." Vince began irritably, a harsh frown on his face - aggression covering the underlying guilt and indecision he felt.
"I'm sorry." He muttered grudgingly, inclining his head shamefully.

Adrian arched an eyebrow. "I'm not sure why you're saying that. I don't really remember who I was, but I get the impression I was a lot different." He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair, tapping his feet nervously. He glanced around, examining the empty room. Not much space to run...

When Adrian ran a hand through his hair, Vince felt a subtle stirring of unwelcome feelings within him, and looked away instantly - anger building up in him. Had this been the 'old' Adrian, he probably would have beat him to a pulp - but now...
"You can say that again..." Vince mumbled in response. Slowly looking up at the boy, he added, "Just as long as you haven't lost your maths skills. I'm gonna crash n' burn if I don't have you to teach me..." He offered a hopeful half-smile - though a voice in his head was raging desperately at him.
What was he doing?! That almost sounded like flirting - which was impossible, because he wasn't gay... He couldn't be gay... His life would be over.

Adrian arched an eyebrow at Vince. The guy was acting strange. He knew it was normal for him to like other guys, but this boy was acting the same way. He sighed and looked out the window. Even if Vince turned out to be gay, he knew they'd probably never end up in a relationship. He and the big homophobe just had nothing in common!
"I also get the impression you don't usually act this way - but I'll take it." And he turned on his heel and made for the door, wondering what exactly - if anything - Vince would do.

Vince stared dumbly after Adrian as he turned to leave, then he glanced away, shuddering slightly, and muttered under his breath, "Damn right... This whole guilt thing has thrown me for a loop." He flashed an irritable glare at Adrian, as though it was all his fault.

Adrian chuckled and turned around to face Vince. "Fine, I'll make you a deal. I'll pretend to be the same and let you bully me in school, but you leave me alone out of school."

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Vince snapped angrily - instantly firing up and taking an aggressive. " Leave you alone out of school... What are you implying, huh?" He stepped forward, fists clenched at his sides, and an angry snarl on his face.
"Forget it. You go your way, and I'll go mine. I can find a new faggot to pick on. You'll be useless for proving any points now you've gone and grown a backbone."

((Food. *Offers Chuckles*))

[[Chuckle?]]

Adrian rolled his eyes. "You don't need to be so defensive. Unless..." It dawned on him what Vince was really being defensive about. Interesting. Although he wasn't the kind of guy to go around doing that. No, the bitch girls can take care of that.
"I'm just saying don't harass me out of school."

((They're little balls of shortcake covered in chocolate. ))

At the word 'unless', Vince felt a shock of fear ripple through him. How could Adrian be catching on to what he had only guessed himself?! He shuddered slightly, gulped back his fear, and resolved just to play it cool.
"Whatever. Have it your way, man." He muttered irritably, shouldering past Adrian into the corridor outside.

[[*drools* Yum.]]

Adrian laughed. "Relax, man." And followed Vince into the hallway. He went to his next class, trying to ignore the stares of people as they watched him.

A few weeks later, Vince headed to the science lab after school again to meet with Adrian for his maths tutoring. He had been doing better since their last session, but still not well enough.

Considering what had happened last time, he found himself feeling nervous and guilty as he stood there in the middle of the room, watching the clock tick. Why the Hell had he taken it so far?!
It was lucky for him Adrian hadn't told anybody what he'd done. He could have gone to prison...
