Perfect Take off [ Jaynehkinz and Alpha]

Edith grinned and bit her lip. "Wow..." She whispered to herself but she knew Jake could hear it. "Thanks." She looked up at him with a small smile, but it was genuine, and somewhat childish. She could feel her cheeks grow hot but ignored it as she scratched her neck and then ran her fingers through her hair absentmindedly. "Well I'm not here for the school, I'm just here to take pictures." She told him, thinking he probably didn't know that. "I'll be gone with the wind in three days." She told him, a twinge of sadness to her soft voice.

The blush faded from his cheeks as his smile fell slightly. "How come?" He asked his heart twitching lightly in his chest. He hated when this happened, every friend he had made would always be gone in the next few days, not from their choice in leaving..it was his dad who'd scare them off. Always spreading rumors about poor Jake, got everyone to believe him..no matter how much Jake denies it.

"Can't afford to pay to stay somewhere for too long," Edith shrugged with a sigh. "I can't run away from my problems for forever...Jake." She said his name like something fragile and important. "I just have to face my fears someday, I've been running all over the world the last 2 years and I can't do that anymore." She looked at the ground before looking up at him with her emerald eyes. "Could you take me up in a plane sometime? Before I leave?" She asked him, voice soft but somewhat pleading, "I want to know what it feels like to be bigger than everyone for once in my life." Edith just stood there, tiny body feet from Jake's, holding a secret he'd never know.

((I'm thinking about making her have some life threatening disease! That would be exciting. That's why she's been running away and visiting all the different places. But she doesn't tell anyone because she doesn't want to be pitied. Andrew doesn't even know! *gasps* Do you think that's too over the top?))

Hearing the pain in her voice Jake wanted to just pull her into a hug, but restrained himself. He knew how she felt, he too had kept running from everyone, chances were that it probably wasnt for the same reason as her, but pretty close by the way she sounded. He felt his heart sink as she listened to her continue. When she asked about taking a trip up in the plane a smile then returned to his face and he handed her his helmet, "Got any plans for today?" He asked with a soft smile and watched her expression carefully

Edith bit her lip and her eyes lit up, "Not yet." She smiled, another genuine smile. She held the helmet in one hand and couldn't help smiling again. "I'm thinking, I do now?" She asked tilting her head slightly, looking somewhat like a child, especially standing in front of Jake who was so tall. Edith brushed her loose hairs out of her face and pulled the strap of her camera bag further up on her shoulder. She swore to herself she wasn't going to grow close to Jake, she would just have to leave him behind like everyone else she grew close to. She felt her heart begin to grow heavy as she stood there staring up at him, all of a sudden she felt this guilt, this horrible sadness swelling in her. She didn't want to leave.

"Well come on, lets get goin and give them a show worth watching huh?" He asked with a smile and began walking out of the room grabbing an extra helmet off the hook out side his door. As he walked towards the plane everyone was being taken outside by the runway, big heavy ear muffs in hand to protect their hearing from the take off. Of course the girl's werent too excited about it..they werent exactly in fasion at this point in time. "Dont worry i wont fly to fast, up there is a great photo op." He smiled and looked over his shoulder at her

Edith nodded and followed him almost laughing at some of the glares the other women were giving her. She smirked and continued to walk after him. It was only when she saw Andrew that her smile faded and she shrank down feeling like nothing again, whenever he gave her that glare that made her whole body go weak. She had to hold herself up as she continued to walk behind Jake putting the other helmet on her head firmly trying to ignore the mixed feelings she was having. Still she couldn't figure out why she wasn't afraid of Jake. She had to scurry along behind him to keep up because of her short legs but the way Andrew was looking at her made her legs feel like jello.

"Dont let him get to you. I actually have a surprise for you after we're done flying." He smiled and looked up at his plane and back at her. "Okay now forgive me for this but its the only way to get you to the step" He said with a chuckle and wrapped his arms around her knees lifting her up to the step waiting for her to grab onto the handle to pull herself into the cockpit.

Edith was surprised when a giggle escaped her lips. Her knees were extremely ticklish. She grabbed onto the handle and pulled herself up into the cockpit. Glad she was so tiny that he could pick her up like that. She looked back down at Jake, "What kind of surprise?" She asked curiously after getting situated. She looked out at all the jealous girls and it made her smile again, for once, she was above them.

"Cant tell you. Then it wont be a surprise" He chuckled and reached up grasping the handle he pulled himself up onto the step and got in the cockpit. He put his helmet on and before he sat down he turned around and looked at her in the seat behind his. He helped connect the oxygen tank to her helmet, "If you feel dizzy at all press the little red button on the arm of your seat, its fresh oxygen, should take the edge off, hold it down and breathe it in until it goes away, i can hear you on the radio, let me know when its too much and I'll level out. Dont be afraid to tell me" He smiled and got situated in his seat up front he switched on the camera that was below the nose of the plane. Linking it to the screen that she could see what was below us. I hooked myself up to everything i needed and signaled to taxy the jet out as i flipped the switch and the glass over the cockpit hissed closed and sealed.

Edith nodded and looked out with excitement. She held onto the arms of the seat as if she was going to fly off of it during take off. She was slightly scared, but not enough to overtake her. She was desperate to see everyone looking smaller and insignificant as she soared through the air at high speed, blowing them all away. She felt like a little child again as she sat there waiting for the ride to begin.

Once out on the runway, Jake fired up the engines a thunderous roar beneath them. The cabin began to pressurize like a regular plane would and the engines whirred up and started. "You ready Edith?" He asked into the radio in his helmet and began to do checks on all parts of the plane needed for take off. The ground crew waved him out with the orange cones in both hands towards the runway

"Ready as I'll ever be." Edith replied into her radio. She felt adrenaline building up inside her as she clutched the arm rests on the seats. She looked out the window again and closed her eyes for a moment before taking a deep breath. She was excited but nervous. She had actually never been so nervous, but not scared, just nervous.

((Dude! There could be a plane crash in the mountains somewhere or something and then they can't find them and it could be some epic bonding time?! Maybe? ))

"Alrighty here we go!" He laughed into the radio and when he was given the go-ahead from the tower all eyes were on them in the plane. Jake flashed everyone on the ground a thumbs up flipped on the engines and before he knew it, they were screaming down the runway within seconds they were in the air climbing higher and higher above the land below. "You doin okay back there?" He asked into the radio with a chuckle of excitement.

"This is exhilarating!" Edith exclaimed into the headpiece, trying not to be too loud. She looked out of the plane and down at the ground as the people slowly started to disappear. She pulled out her camera and set it on the right mode before snapping several pictures from behind the glass. "Thank you Jake." She said into the mouth piece. She meant it, she meant it with all her heart. This is something she had always wanted to do.

((Ahaa, yes I know. ))

"Oh just wait, It'll get so much better" He said with a smile into the mouthpiece and leveled the plane out. They were still over Nevada but now heading towards Red Rock Canyon, but to get there they had to fly over Las Vegas, "Ever see Vegas from the sky?" He asked and watched out his window at the approaching city. "It's better at night but where i'm taking you it has to be day time"

"I've never even seen Las Vegas." Edith admitted into the mouthpiece. She watched out the window in awe of what she was seeing. "Whoa..." She muttered as she watched the world pass by beneath her. "This is amazing Jake." She said softly into the mouthpiece with a broad grin. She continued to watch and snap pictures, her eyes glued to the ground flying by below them.

Jake chuckled and it was a warm charming one. He was having fun, more fun than usual, then again it might just be that he has someone else in the cockpit. "well this could be the best way to see it" He said and banked the plane lightly as he turned to let her get better shots of the city and the tall high rise casinos. "Let me know when you want me to stop for a second to get a still picture of something so it wont blur it up" He smiled waiting to show her what this jet can really do.

"Jake," Edith started with a shake of her head, "This camera costs more than $900.00 it takes fine pictures that don't blur, no matter what." She told him with a small laugh, it was cute and somewhat childish. She continued to snap photographs glad that she had a 12G memory card in her camera as she took pictures of everything. "This is amazing Jake, just breath-taking. I've never seen anything as beautiful." She said with a slight gasp to her voice.

"Well too bad, Im just gonna stop then" He chuckled and the plane went from going three hundred miles an hour to zero and before they knew it, they were hovering over Vegas. Just sitting there in the sky, "Wanna go lower?" He asked with a smile and held the plane where it sat in the sky. The sun beating down on the city, the shadow of the plane distorted by the casinos.

"I don't care, but I think you do." Edith laughed into the mouthpiece and continued to snap pictures. She brushed her bang out of her eyes and scooted over a little more on her seat. She was so tiny that she only took up about half of it. "This is some awesome piece of metal Jake." She said tapping the inside of the plane. Edith looked around in wonder as a smile was glued on her face. For once, she was towering over the world and they couldn't do anything about it.

"This is just part of my life. And one that i love" He said and slowly let the plane lower so more detail could be seen out the windows, "Im still waiting for the day i can fly down the streets scarin the life out of some of those people down there" He chuckled which turned into a laugh at the thought of people having a near heart attack when they see a fighter scream by. He let the plane drift forward and they were headed to the canyon where they had permits to fly through.

Edith smiled and then sat back taking a break on taking pictures until they got to the next place he had planned. "How old were you when you started to fly?" She asked him curiously as she tucked her camera safely away in it's protective case. "Oh, maybe we shouldn't talk while you're flying?" She asked biting her lip and leaning back in her seat, closing her eyes. When she opened them everything was swirling, "J-Jake what do I do i-if I get dizzy?" She asked squeezing her eyes shut again.

"Press the red button on the arm of you chair, hold it down until you feel better, deep breaths" He told her and did it a few times with his to keep him awake. "And you can talk while i fly, I mean i can multitask when its just a leisure flight" He said with a shrug and chuckled hoping the oxygen will help her

Edith nodded and did as he said a few times until she started to feel better. She sucked in the air with a slight wheeze. She hadn't taken her asthma medication this morning. She'd be fine though, she told herself. It never got too bad unless she had forgotten to take it multiple days in a row. Shaking her head to clear it from thoughts she looked back up to where Jake was, "That's good because, it's good to multi-task." She told him with a smile.
